The best comment on our forum by far about the McClaren/Kluivert rumours:

"I think McClaren will be manager with Kluivert brought in as his Dutch to English translator".

Dan seems surprisingly chipper - Heard on a football podcast that the Swindon manager joined Mansfield Town. Said he felt the "warmth" from the fans during their game with Swindon. That is proper funny and it's great to see Swindon becoming a laughing stock on a show with international reach
Laughing stock? Blimey, pot, kettle, black.

Wars have been won and lost quicker than it is taking you lot to find a new chump

I mean, the podcast hasn't been laughing at us. Granted they mentioned Sol Campbell, but they focussed on his comments rather than our decision not to hire him.

The Flitcroft thing is proper funny as well. Taking your time to appoint a manager during a takeover makes more sense than losing your boss to Mansfield

Didn't lose him. I think, almost to a man, everyone wanted him out.

Happy days!

Was that the Football Ramble podcast? Best footballing podcast bar none in my opinion. The Town Fan that emailed that comment got rinsed and rightly so.

We lost cos we were utter garbage. We would have been/were utter garbage under Flitcroft. That and the squad being decimated with injuries with all 3 CBs out til season’s end.

And, yes, it’s still happy days as far as Im concerned.

Why are your dismal shower determined to get relegated?

That's the one. I like FW too but there's far too many coming out these days.

Dan the last time we discussed your miserable bunch didn't you say that promotion, under Flitcroft, was assured?

I very much doubt it. You can try and dig one out if you like.

I must admit, though, I do post while drunk after a game occasionally!

I listen to FW and the Totally Football show (which is my least favourite) but agree there are too many. There is one I listen to called not the top 20 which is two toffs talking about the lower leagues. One is an Oxford fan funnily enough.

On an Oxford theme Phil Brown has been appointed our manager until the end of season and Brian Horton is his assistant.

Makes sense.

I do have the totally football show subscribed but it's always the one I'm least likely to listen to.

Glad we aren't getting Phil Brown to be honest. Might well know his stuff (might not, I have no idea) but seems pretty hard to like.

Agree with you about Brown. I have to hold my hands up to being completely wrong about Sherwood, his arrival and departure was a nightmare from start to finish.

Hull and Southend fans generally have good things to say about Brown, and his record seems to be ok. (I haven't done too much background checks to confirm or deny that) He has 10 games in charge so all we can do is see what he can do (with a squad of pretty mediocre players and injuries to key defenders it will be an uphill battle).

Out of interest, is your new chairman going all out on attracting a 'Big Name' to the Kassam? Hence why the appointment is dragging on. I have a mate who is an Oxford fan who isn't too happy with the length of time its taking. He fears the delays are dragging the team slowly into a relegation dogfight.

Our new owner reckons it will be a "wow" appointment so I would assume it must be a big name. We've had so many linked it is ridiculous with the likes of Patrick Kluivert and Steven Gerrard mentioned.

The joke one going around is Sven Goran Eriksson to reunite the England dreamteam with Derek Fazackerley.

Yep, some sort of big name seems in order. I think we had to start the process afresh after the takeover.

Nothing that's happened so far is really filling anyone with confidence or even optimism, and we are absolutely in a relegation battle.

I haven't a clue if it is true, or not, but any media claims may be picking up on wild speculation and joke comments on our forum.
It is strange where some of the names come from. Looking on, I reckon you need a steady Eddie type that knows lower league English football.

Unfortunately, I can’t see you for the drop.

Steven Gerrard is the latest name appearing on our forum so expect his betting odds to shorten rapidly.

We are definitely in the relegation mix.

Foreign manager rarely work in lower leagues as i keep saying unless they played in england for a few year. Didn't swen fail miserably at notts county. Seems as much a risk as a young new to the game mamager but also a much higher salary to top up his pension pot

Sven for Oxford?

At least we would get plenty of mentions on your favourite podcast!

That sort of thing might play in your dreary Swindon backwaters but it won't carry much weight at Oxelona.

These things often get settled but what’s the news on OUFC being issued a winding up order by HMRC?

Imitating a football club, I heard.

No wonder they have no manager. I know it’s hardly a rare occurrence for football clubs, but all the same, it’s fucking funny.
