Looks like David Unsworth is going to be our new manager...

No he isn't as according to the Liverpool Echo who claim he has turned it down. Although Darryl Eales (our owner) confirmed we had spoken to him in amongst others BUT they haven't offered anyone the job yet as they are still going through the process.

Based on impressing in the summer when interviewed, Matthew Upson might get a chance this time.

It's getting stupid now, Sky Sports claiming we've talked to Sol Campbell. Is there any other TV pundits/ex pundits the media have missed yet?

I await Rio Ferdinand and Alan Shearer being linked next week!

That article can’t be real?

I think even that would be a step too far for the Oxford Mail. It is taken from an interview on Talksport. It is fantastic and after it any lower league club would be nuts to employ him.

‘Greatest minds in football’, eh? Sounds like a bit of a bellend, to be sure.

Trying to be neutral here, but wouldn’t a more experienced fella be what you’re looking for?

Don’t suppose there’s too many available, tbh.

I don't think there is any good experienced out of work managers available who fit our model. Uwe Rosler possibly but I'm not sure if he is good or not, probably too late in our process and according to some on here he won't leave the north west.

I'm growing on the idea of it being Craig Bellamy as he certainly has passion and a bit of charisma. Alongside that, how he has spoken about what he wants to do, he comes across as being intelligent with it as well (unlike Sol Campbell). He knows how to work with youngsters which with our squad will be necessary whilst having the character to not be bothered by upset senior players.

He might be able to explain to Jon Obika how to head the ball in from 2 yards as well. :gr:

Unfortunately, I fear that Campbell article is legit.

He was on Soccer AM a few weeks back and was talking exactly the same. How he’s waiting for the right opportunity and how he would be open to an assistant role at the top level but not in the lower leagues because he couldn’t work under someone who knows less than him etc.

The arrogance of the man is despicable.

Just because you happen to have been good at playing football doesn’t make you any more knowledgeable about the game than other coaches out there. Most good managers were below average footballers, and rated players like Ray Wilkins for example, haven’t got a fucking clue what they’re talking about.

This is the same guy that quit Notts County after a couple of games because he couldn't handle it. Absolute nutjob

Ideally we want someone who had a miserable time at Blackburn, Blackpool and Portsmouth who looks like a cage fighter and has Chris Maguire on speed dial.

That ship has sailed. Russell Slade is available, I believe.

I believe the delay in appointing the new manager has now been explained:

http://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/news/16...tes_deal_to_replace_Darryl_Eales_as_chairman/

We have a new owner. I don't know what Tiger is like (or if he is just the front man) although I believe his wife likes a self written club song. Good that Darryl Eales will still be involved. Also, good about the investment in the training ground.

I wouldn't be surprised if Craig Bellamy is announced as the new manager tomorrow.

The worst thing about having a new manager is that I'm worried they might not get the automatic victories against Swindon that we have enjoyed the last 16 years. No doubt Clotet would have bottled such a game this year if given a chance - he was terrible against lower league opposition.

Let’s hope your new owner keeps up the tradition of ‘successful’ Thai owners in this country.

Is that Thai fella at Birmingham still at large or has he been banged up yet?

Are you suggesting their nationality is linked to their ability or intentions?

Apparently we are the most famous team in Thailand so its a completely natural move.

Lady boy!

Asian owners don’t have the best track record, do they. Genuine question. What is the attraction in buying a club, any club, that doesn’t include the ground?

We are facing similar at the moment with both Lee Power and the Supporter’s Trust battling to buy the CG off the council. We all know what happened/is happening with Uncle Firoz.

I'm hoping Darryl Eales stays properly involved and we have a newish managing director (albeit part time) who so far seems reasonable, based on a meeting with the Supporters Trust and small actions since.

I would like to say Darryl Eales has been a good owner. Whilst he has made mistakes, he has been given us some successful, entertaining seasons whilst changing the culture in the club.

That said, he can't asset strip as there isn't any as the new training grounds will be leased whilst the ground is well documented. Tiger has spoken positively about the Academy set up and there has been real investment in that in the last month or so which I suspect he has authorised. As with any new owner it will depend on how he acts in the future obviously. I'm not for or against and will see how it goes.

Although I was amused by the comment he has higher ambitions than the supporters' ambitions. When I'm certain there is no coherent ambition other than to stay up this season and to be involved in the promotion race next season.

I'm looking forward to hearing the new club anthem as I'm sure it will be wonderful just like the Reading one. :gr:

Why don’t Oxford appoint someone like Billy Davies? He would get them into the play offs at least

Does he like working with and developing young players as that is our model?

Didn't Thai owners win the PL just 2 years back.

Carson Yeung at Brum was Hong Kong not Thai....

Yes. Gave Karl Darlow, Olivier Burke and Jamaal Lascelles a chance. Perfect fit.
Burke didn't play until after Davies had left and Lascelles made his debut under Cotterill.

What does making a debut under another manager have to do with anything? He played majority of his Forest games under Billy Davies.

Just being factual...

He made more appearances for Forest under other managers than he did Davies in total.

Incorrect.

Made 34 appearances in 2013/14 season where Davies manager until March.

It’s all over for you.
