You're all doing this competition a massive disservice. We've seen a dramatic rise in the fortunes of the England national team over the last 3-4 years, which is also around the same time B/youth teams were introduced in this competition. Coincidence? I think not. I mean, that was it's purpose after all. Those 3-4 games a season that PL youth players play against disinterested L1/L2 teams has clearly had a huge effect. :bang:

You could also factor in the covid year where we weren't allowed to do anything by the powers at be. I certainly said i'll make more effort to go to games away from home, especially the ones i've not been to before. Luckily I've done about 80% of the grounds in this league from years gone by.

I've decided i'm not doing the home tie v Newcastle as this is a piss take game, but will go to the crewe away game and vale at home for the trophy.

Port Vale are trying to do a deal £20 for both league Cup and Pizza cup game the week after. Otherwise its £15 and £10. I think it's safe to say most will be just paying the £15.

This issue has never been regarding the benefits of the England setup though. It's always been about opening up the door for B-teams and youth teams to play in the EFL. If you don't think that that's a possibility then you're naive. Prem managers constantly whinging about fixture congestion and backlog has already applied enough pressure to do away with FA Cup replays which is a massive slap in the face to lower league clubs and proves that long standing traditions in the English professional game are very much there to be torn apart by those that have the money and power to get what they want.

You can have the EFL competition, very much in favour of it. Gives players coming back from injury a chance to get closer to being match fit, gives youngsters an opportunity to step up BUT playing Fulham/Chelsea/Man City’s youth team is, and will remain, wrong.
I travel the country watching my team, probably 80% of away games but would never support the competition in its current guise!
Do you take the same stance for League Cup ties when premier league teams play basically the same team in the early rounds as they do in the pizza cup.

I thought no one cared about the football in this sack of shit?

Just had to check that we aren’t playing tonight. Thankfully not although maybe we were scheduled to play but have had it moved due to our 142 injures
Mr Clough was at our game last night decent bloke had some banter with the fans and is not the dour bloke he comes across as at all in person.

Wrexham sold out for this apparently surprise, surprise. What is it with bandwaggoners and the Leyland Daf or whatever it’s called now? I thought no one really gave a fuck about the league cup and fa cup anymore let alone this pile of bollocks.

Theres lots of embarrassing things about Lincoln but the fact that they and their fans took it seriously the year they got back in the league is the worst of the lot.

No I don’t. Last season we played a Premier League side in the League Cup. They fielded, as most Prem sides do in my experience, a shadow squad. They played a full side of players with Prem squad numbers but not necessarily those that had started their Prem games. We certainly did not face a team made up of 18-19 year olds with squad numbers like 78 or 87. They sold out their allocation, Prem sides barely bring a 100 fans to watch their Under 21’s.

You support the competition if you wish but in my humble opinion it is totally wrong and a smack in the face for your and mine historical clubs. I 100% would not attend Wembley even if my team made the final.

standards & principles!

The haters of this competition should give Wrexham a pass. They can't of been following the shenanigans of this competition from their position in the 5th tier.

Everything is shiny and new for them although moment.

Yeah. All we've had for years is the FA Trophy and the Tunnocks Teacake challenge cup

Aye but since the changes the FA Trophy is a better more competitive competition that the EFL trophy, which tells you all you need to know about this shite competition that should be scrapped.

Was always going to be a big attendance for ours because these tinpot games are the only games a lot can easily some get tickets for.

Because we are just that massive.

Pretty embarrassing really.

It was always going to be that way considering we have thousands who would never understand the problems behind B teams.

I hope we go out this cup quickly so I don't have to boycott some potential big final game.

Damn, my sarcasm was too subtle. Thought I'd made it obvious enough, but guess not.

I don’t even know what under 21 side is in our mini league.

If you go to these games you aren’t a proper fan and should slap yourself accordingly.

And no. i wouldn’t go to wembley to watch it, if we got there.

Wembley is a rubbish day out anyway. Overpriced booze, ballache to get to and you're much further from the action that you're used to (unless you support West Ham).

Also we almost always lose there.
