I think people ought to be able to recognise why employing a racial stereotype in a chant might offend and/or make people feel uncomfortable. And yes, I know people might perceive having a gigantic schlong to be something rather positive, but KIO are still right to regard it as a "racist stereotype" (seemingly harmless examples are often accompanied by altogether more negative ones). Think it would be appropriate for stewards to have a word.

It's also a really cringeworthy chant so that's probs as good a reason as any to knock it on the head.

Why would anyone reference the size of Lukaku's penis in a chant other than because he's black? You can't be that naive. No, supporters are not just as likely to make a chant about the size of ANY white player's penis. It's one of the most widely known racial stereotypes there is. Like like rich Jew or the Asian maths wizard.

The prevalence of "positive" stereotypes only helps to preserve the prevalence of negative stereotypes. Yes, the supporters in question may not be racist, but the chant can still be harmful. If people hold onto positive stereotypes, they are probably likely to hold onto negative ones also. Not criticising the chant normalises the stereotyping.

I can't say I'm that confident that these guys have done the research into Lukaku's family heritage, or the physiology of West Africans. Let's reverse the situation to use a negative stereotype. Using your logic - if statistically West African men have a lower IQ than average, then how are we committing a sin of racial stereotyping if we sing a song about Lukaku being stupid? Romelu should not be offended, nor should anyone from the West African community because the statistics back it up, fact.

The 'sin of racial stereotyping' comes by presuming an individual adheres to a generalisation, whether positive or negative.
