It seems Fellaini refuses to extend his contract and is eyeing a China move. Any United fan in here who actually wants to keep him? It is reported that Mourinho is mad at the prospect of losing him.

I'm a united fan and I'll be glad to see him go. It's been a long time coming if he does leave.

LVG and Mourinho love him, he's proven himself a useful battering ram and helping to herald the end of the 'Utd way'. :hypo:

You can read a lot into the fact the majority of United fans don't want Fellaini yet Mourinho is desperate not to lose him due to what he offers to his style of management.

He's almost Adam Lallana levels of wank.

Fellaini is not good enough to be playing in Manchester, although he's useful as a substitute. However, he's not the kind of player you would expect at a team that aspires to win the PL.
Yeah he can be useful and he occasionally has a good game but overall he's just not good enough for us.

Actually he is good for us as he has proved himself in the crucial times and he is the one who has won many aerial duels and has also scored when we needed the goals.

I agree, he definitely has his good games and is best at aerial duels (minus when he elbows opponents in the face), but he has more bad games than he does good.

9 years, damn! Serves him right if he committed it, women shouldn't have to put up with that nonsense these days.

Will he actually go to prison though? He lives in Brazil, but it was the Italian court that sentenced him.

Would have to apply for extradition. America does it with us all the time for Britons who've committed crimes or other misdemeanours over there.

But you have an extradition deal with the United States, whereas Italy and Brazil do not. They can't even almost be compared. Not to say it definitely saves Robinho from prison (see Nicolas Leoz to U.S. last week), but it does make it significantly less likely. A general rule of thumb is that countries don't send their citizens abroad to go to prison unless they absolutely have to, or in the case of middle eastern immigrants, absolutely want to.

Fair enough, I'm not an expert on international law, I thought those were a given amongst most first-world countries. Obviously not.

i dunno about all that beelo mate, how effective goalkeepers are at keeping goals out arguably gives a decent indication as to how good they are at keeping goal and that. ofc there's more to it, just like hendersons shocking pass % the other night does't mean he wasn't effective in other ways, like running about a bit and pointing at things. he is up there as one of the games greatest ever pointers, no one is denying that. but regardless, it doesn't look too great for someone my very good and loyal friend salty mate has lauded as a great shot stopper and "100 times the player lloris will ever be" beelo mate.

I'm not backing Salts because he's wrong, I'm just saying that you can't pick a stat that suits your agenda and say "lol look he's shit". Especially for goalkeepers.

I looked it up, Nick Pope is top of the league in save percentage but imo nowhere near the best shot stopper in the league. Again, you can't use stats like this regarding goalkeepers in football because they are way too dependent on how the team plays. Burnley are extremely good at funneling shots straight at the goalkeeper by blocking the wide lanes (their cbs+Cork are all in the top 10 for blocks this season), which means most of the shots they concede come straight at the goalkeeper. I'd definitely back Mignolet to top the league in save percentage in that system, as I would almost every other PL goalkeeper. This wouldn't make Mignolet a better goalkeeper.

Most of the shots we concede, however, are premium chances. This is because we pressure very well outside our own box so we pretty much never concede long shots. Instead, when the opposition actually takes a shot, it's usually having beaten most of our defenders. Only Man City concede less shots than we do (Burnley are top). The correlation between conceding many shots and the goalkeeper having a good save percentage is quite strong, but again, funneling shots like Burnley does help, never conceding long shots but often getting beaten by deep balls does not help.

If you twist your thinking the other way around; we concede second least shots in the league. Do you genuinely believe that if we got any of the GK's at the top of the save percentage list, that we would actually start conceding the second least in the league? With Lovren, Moreno, Henderson? Of course not. You just want to pummel Salt's dumb opinion using stats that you don't even know how to use. In regards to save percentage, I'd recommend not at all.

Simon Luc Hildebert Mignolet has been shit at goalkeeping in one hundred percent of the football matches I have seen him play.
