Sky's statement did not say how long Carragher's suspension would last and, on his future as a pundit with the company, the 40-year-old said "it remains to be seen and it's Sky's decision".

"What I would say is there is no doubt what I have done is disgusting and I apologise for it," added Carragher.

However, he has been pulled from their coverage as they investigate the spitting incident, with MTG Sport executive vice-president Peter Norrelund saying they had sent an employee to speak to Carragher before deciding what further action to take.

"I want to listen to his version. With the impact of story there was no need to send him to Old Trafford for the game," said Norrelund.

They're right now trying to gauge what kind of impact this has on Jamie Carragher's public image, and how this in turn will affect Sky's. This will then be weighed against how valuable he is in actual numbers. The ONLY thing that matters is what comes out on top, how it affects Sky's image vs what he's worth.

I've only just seen the full video, with sound. It takes nothing away from how dirty and vile Carragher was but the first thing I noticed after the incident itself was how strangely happy the dad appeared to be, despite his daughter clearly being distressed after being hit by spit. Even setting aside the fact he was recording with his phone when driving, what a dick. You could almost hear the pound signs in his voice.

This is not something normal people do, Carragher is not a first offender. He deserves absolutely no sympathy.
