Was that the Eastleigh chant to the Yaya Toure song? Or the "we're the Eastleigh boys, making all the noise" etc song? Tbf, when we played them, they had incredible support both games in the league. Despite what has been said about them, they're up there with the best fans, noise wise, I've seen all season. FGR fans barely made a noise all game, but tbf, they didn't have much to sing about, so I can't really run them down for that. I saw a few of them singing at the beginning but because of the wind and being the other end behind the goal, it was too hard to hear.

I didn't realise there had been 8000 tickets sold! At a max potential we could get; 40,000 Rovers, 25,000 Grimsby and 8,000 neutrals. Imagine if there was 73,000 for a conference play off final fixture, that would be immense.

Even 60k+ would be amazing for non-league status in the country and I think it would only be these two clubs who could give figures that high.

I would like to see Grimsby do it, they've suffered for long enough (would say the same for Lincoln, Wrexham etc too) in the Conference and secretly, I think Rovers would be a damn strong team if they got up. I rate the current team they have highly and if they could improve on it (imagine them signing LDV, Lines permanently, Harrison continuing his form, plus other strengthenings). Grimsby are good but Rovers offer far more strength next season.

He has officially just become my all time favourite Rovers manager

I love how the Grimsby lads did their lap of honour with beers in their hands!

You mean legend, right?

Title won, 8-2 victory today, still talking about little ol' Bristol Rovers.
I was only joking.

Fair play to him - shows more passion and connection with the fans than that miserable dinosaur Ward that got you in this mess in the first place.

Enjoy Wembley lads - should be a cracking day.

(unless you lose, of course ;))

Fair enough JJH. For about five or six years now there has been a huge disconnection between the club (board, management, players.) and the fans. Miles apart. Clarke has well and truly bridged the divide this year. Whatever happens, he'll always have my respect.

He'll go on to bigger and better things than us. I've not heard a figure in football talk badly about him.

He was always going to get the job - and rightly so.

The timing of it was exceptionally poor, and he just got John Ward's mess dumped upon his feet, with little time to turn it around.

He's proved himself this year - and as you said, I'm sure he'll go onto big things.

I'm a big fan of young coaches who are willing to play attacking football and take risks - and Darrell Clarke fits that criteria.

Regardless of whether you win at Wembley or not - it's been a good season for everyone involved, and an instant return would be a massive achievement.

I hope our fans have now calmed down a bit after yesterdays celebrations. I've nothing against people celebrating like they did yesterday BUT we have won nothing yet.

The big game is a week on Sunday, lose that and yesterday will have all been for nothing.

I would say that the game v Bristol Rovers is THE BIGGEST GAME IN OUR HISTORY. Some might say that was Burton, but that game was out of our hands and even if we had won that day, we would have still gone down. This time around destiny is in our hands, win and we'll be back in the Football League and dreaming of trips to Accrington, Dagenham and Hartlepool.

There's been 2 very tight games between the 2 clubs this season so I don't think that there will be too many goals in it (Rovers being the only team that we haven't scored against this season and the goal they scored against us a bit controversial) but I'm sure PH will have the players well prepared for the game and even though I would think we will probably be outnumbered 2 to 1 by Rovers fans on the day, I hope we turn up in our numbers to spoil their day and send them back home to the West Country miserable,

UTM. GTID.

The two best defences in the league at Wembley, and both sides free scoring with us scoring 8 goals in the last three games and Bristol scoring 10 in the last three games. As Les says two very tight games between us in the league with arguably nothing between us on the day.

Should be a great game with a massive crowd, however one set of fans are going to be walking away very disappointed, just hope its not us. It would be nice to replace Cheltenham in the league after they beat us in our last play-off final, its gone downhill for us since.

Should be a good game between you. Both great clubs, decent sets of fans and should do pretty alright in league 2 - it is pretty shit tbh.

If Bristol do come back up, I hope you won't be too hostile to us at your place!

The last 4 sides to go up have adapted pretty well - us and cambridge didn't have great seasons but have been safe, Luton and Newport were top half - both sides would be looking at a top half finish IMO - though Grimsby wouldn't really be wanting to keep Palmer if you did go up.

I know, we don't want him to be scoring any more goals like his first yesterday do we. :conf:

Maybe he could come good for you - hope it does - he is a nice lad. Just didn't quite make it with us as the defenders worked him out quite quickly, if you come up it'd be nice to see him do well in a settled side

I don't think Mansfield fans are in a position to call L2 shit when you finished on 48 points

I think we would be more than able to call it shit - when you've got sides like us last season being abysmal - not reaching the 50 point mark and still comfortably staying up. If anything we should be the first ones calling it that - as league 2, like us, is shit

To be honest Stag, I don't think people really blame Mansfield (despite the few knobheads who went towards the away end on that day), so I doubt there'd be much hostility.

Should be a good game as the Grimsby fans have said, tight game but a good one hopefully. Looking forward to it, Wembley pitch should suit both sides, which couldn't be said for either of the other semi-finalists.

I'd say a good pitch suits you more than it does Grimsby. Perhaps it was just a deliberate ploy against Eastleigh but Grimsby seemed very direct.

Palmer has been a revelation for us, some players just click at certain clubs, looks like
he hasn't done that at Mansfield, but he certainly has here!
If we go up, without doubt, we would love to keep him here, not really sure what your problem is with him to be honest? :dk::dk:

We tryed playing a high line v Grimsby all four games. 0 wins shows it didn't work

Didn't help with our silly song yesterday as 5 mins later he scored. Having played for Havant. He was allways gonna get some. Trouble is 4 goals in 4 games this season. Shows who had the last laugh. Good luck in the final

It's not that he couldn't make the step up, it's just Mansfield are woeful at man management, and play horrendous football.

Even Messi would struggle playing under Adam Murray with his tactics.

You saw it twice, I saw it 31 times, trust me, I know.

Even so, a side as woeful as us (with a capital W) can stay up backs up my point exactly about how the league was shit

So you've just contradicted yourself then?

"Palmer would get found out in L2" to then say "back up my point exactly about how the league was shit"

He did get found out - his problem was though he tried and put in lots of effort, he wasn't fast enough to be "pacy forward" nor was he built enough to be a "holding player" he was a kinda mix between both.

Again, I would know about him being found out, as I saw him play - lots. So in short even though the league is/was crap, he wasn't good enough at the time. I don't think he would have made it regardless of whether he played for us, or Shrewsbury at the time. Maybe if Grimsby come up with a settled side and system it might work for him a second time round - I bloody hope it does - he's a decent lad.

I hope that simplifies it enough for you.
