I think yellow is right. Can't say for absolute certain that it was on target so the ref can't say a clear goal scoring opportunity has been denied.

From a neutral's perspective I'm glad he wasn't sent off but I do think it was a red. The defender wasn't getting there to stop it if it was on target.

I honestly think they would do better with Mildenhall in goal and being down to 10, so Grimsby should be thanking the ref if anything.

This is going rather well at the moment. Keeper should have gone though.
C'mon the Mariners! :bravo:

How could you tell in that split second from either the referee or the assistant's angle that it definitely was NOT on target?

I can't, so therefore it follows that equally I can't say it was on target. Therefore I'd have to guess hence not clear.

No he's through on goal and has a shot. No difference from a shot where the keeper handles it outside the area or a last man taking him out. It was a clear goal scoring opportunity. The ref's bottled it.

He's not been denied the opportunity to shoot, he had the shot. It's simply then down to whether it is going in. If it was clearly going wide and a player handled it, everyone would say yellow.

It was a shot at goal! How much clearer a goalscoring opportunity can you get?

Read what you've just written. It has to be on target or it's not clear is it.

You can't send someone off in a final over a decision you can never be sure about

If there's doubt, you can't give it.

Why hasn't Taylor squared that, the selfish reprobate.
