Hard luck Grimsby, horrible way to lose, will be fighting for promotion again next season whilst we'll be fighting at the wrong end no doubt.

Safe trip home.

Unlucky Grimsby - a fantastic effort and season.

You'll be back where you belong soon enough.

The noise from the Rovers' fans when the deciding penalty went in was incredible.
Hard luck to Grimsby who more than matched Rovers for all 120 minutes and all but one of the penalties.
Hurst has to aim for the title from the off next season IMO.

Congratulations Bristol Rovers. Deserved. Loved my trip to the MEM and it was plain to see you ae too big for this league

However Commiserations Grimsby. Must be gut wrenching. Really feel for you and to make matters a little worse you havent got your obligatory 6 points against us!

Absolutely gutted.

Terrible Final, as suspected.

Hard luck Cods, well done Rovers.

I thought the first half was quality. Except the bits were Harrison had the ball. They were terrifying. Thank fuck for cramp. 2nd half was dire, other than the odd flash of a chance. I think I blacked out or went into some weird trance like state in extra time because I can't remember anything about it.
Before I congratulate the Brizzle lot two things...
1. Puddy should have been sent off.
2. Taylor is a wanker.
Gutted for Pittman, he's always tried hard whenever I've seen him but he was off the pace today when he came on and capped it all off miserably.
Fair play to Brizzle though, your back line is as solid a defence as I've seen down here and better than most defences I saw in League Two. You've been a sound lot on here and on TFF too, so you'll be missed. Good luck next season, please beat Luton twice.

Devastated.

Keeper and Taylor should've gone and after his abortion of a performance pitman shouldn't had even considered running up for a penalty.

Agreed SOC and Lew. Keeper should have walked, though I'm not sure about Taylor. The ref made the correct decision not giving Taylor a pen, but got it wrong not showing the red card to Puddy. An early dismissal would have been a massive game changer, and I think that was the only reason the ref only gave him a yellow.

Well, Taylor should have been booked for his part in the fracas with McKeown and Pearson as well as the dive, in my opinion. Pearson should have seen a yellow there, too.

Completely forgot about that little incident. Yes, you're right. Rovers should consider themselves very lucky today, and yourselves unlucky. Just like last year in that infamous Gateshead match.

Well thought we had the better chances during the game but it was still very even and had draw all over it becuase as has been the story of our season we can't finish chances.

Nothing seperated the two sides today but well done Bristol.

Hope we keep most of this team together but we need to find a proper goalscorer for next season

You could say Pearson should have been sent off for grabbing Taylor around the throat during that incident.

First of all, let me get this out they way:

GET THE FUCK IN!

Personally, I think we more than deserved to go up this year.

That being said, massive commiserations to Grimsby fans. Great set of fans, better atmosphere than us today and I thought they were very unlucky to lose that. Massively hope they go up next year.

The real losers of course are Torquay.

Yup, I'm annoyed.

More serious note though, fair play, decent achievement. I imagine you'll need a lot to do though - Mansell (for example) is not a FL player anymore so if you are relying on him to play regularly then you'll be struggling again.

Enjoy the day though!

That was a nothing incident until Pearson started acting the knob for no reason and making it all kick off.

Feel for all the Grimsby folk, it's hell to get to that final and then have it snatched away from you, I was absolutely gutted when Oxford kept us down here. It sucks, but re-group and come again, unlike us you seem to challenge most years, hopefully sooner rather than later you'll be back up with Wrexham and Lincoln and the rest of the guys who've served their time.

But equally I can remember the jubilation of escaping ourselves, so congratulations to all the Rover's fans.

Can see Wrexham being much stronger next season with a decent manager, as for us think we are here for the seriously long haul. Cannot see anything changing anytime soon, only if we go even lower and join Stocky in the North.

Grimsby will definitely be up there next. Not sure who else will challenge though.

A very good game to watch. I couldn't get over how good my seat was in the neutral end. Grimsby deserved it on the day. I don't know why Grimsby took off Palmer, their best player. Its a cruel game losing on penalties. Grimsbys fans were class - didn't stop singing all game. The same cant be said for Rovers though - they sang the same song every 20 minutes or so and then the rest of the time they were silent.

Anyway, congratulations Rovers. Seems fair as the top 2 went up. Good luck and see you next season.

Seems to be some obsessed City fans about Rovers going by this thread.

Feel sorry for Grimsby. Welcome back Brizzle.

Sturrock did the goalie swap before LVG. 3-3 and we won on penalties.

Rovers are in the shit if the Sainsburys court case goes against them i heard, good! Their fans are a throwback to football in the 70's.
