Still quite can't believe that happened today, still hasn't sunk in!

Even though it's no consolation I thought that the Grimsby fans were absolutely fantastic, a real credit to your club. The constant chanting and drumming it was like we were playing an Eastern European team, absolutely epic. Best wishes for next season, you lot really deserve to be in the football league!

Commiserations, Grimsby.

You'll be up there again next season but there comes a time when the PO's just ruin you. Did to Wrexham I think?

I see Rovers manager has covered himself in dignity.

For having a laugh at the Grimsby paper? They were trying all week to make a big deal of his video and he just pointed it out.

He was very respectful to Grimsby as a club, their manager, their fans and their performance against us. Having a little dig at your newspaper isn't the same as having a dig at the club.

I understand it's a dig at the newspaper but it's still a massively undignified and entirely unprofessional thing to do imo.

Reading the Grimsby forum also wants me to sign up and rub it right in. Talk about bitter.

However, I shall refrain, I respect the Grimsby fans on here.
I can't see much bitterness on there at all? I see a lot of people proud of the club.

I do see a lot a bit pissed off that a referee who almost certainly cost us a play off final place last season has quite possibly cost us a place in the football league this season. Don't care who you are, every fan in the country would be aggrieved at that.

Oh and one more thing, just had flashbacks of the 'Fish' chant, hopefully there will be a video going round, gave me ghoosebumps at the time.

Come on fella, the decisions evened themselves out.

Arguably they went in favour of you. A free kick and a red wouldn't have been as bad as a penalty and a red. Also, Blissett was through 1 on 1 in the last minute and was miles onside yet incorrectly called offside.

I can't really agree with that, Mckeown has barely touched Taylor's leg hairs and he's made the most of it to try and get a fellow pro sent off at Wembley. The same Taylor who should've been booked for kicking Mckeown on the ground before that, suddenly you have two players who should've walked.

As has been said enough times, congratulations to Rovers, over the course of 46 games they deserved it. However, we've every right to think decisions out of our control are a a big reason we're playing Boreham Wood next season.

Am I the only one who thought McKeown punched the ball away before Taylor went down? I was dead centre with it and my initial reaction was that it was excellent goalkeeping. Hard to judge in real time and you lot would've had the benefit of replays. I don't think refereeing decisions have cost us promotion but I do think we were harder done by with their red not given.

Not the only reason for us going shit, but it was a big factor. Such a massive kick in the bollocks. Alan Alger put the stats on twitter. Out of the 12 play off final losers, only Exeter have won promotion the following season. Only 4 have made the playoffs, including Exeter. The average finish of teams is 9th.

Wrexham - 10th, 11th, playoffs, playoffs, defeat in final, 17th, 11th, ???.
Grimsby - 11th, 11th, playoffs, playoffs, defeat in final, ???, ???, ???.

Was ready to take the piss but actually do feel for the Grimsby fans. It's horrible to lose in extra time especially after the massive effort put in all season. (Apart from against us). From a purely selfish point of view I'm glad we're keeping the derby.

I'm surprised how many Lincoln fans have said that actually, given the poor away followings and cancelling our Boxing Day dates.

Attendances were up I think(?), so irrelevant. It proved a good move despite scepticism.

Only natural you want to keep your local games. Had we lost you but still had York, Mansfield, Alfreton, or even the days in L2 with Donny, Notts, Chesterfield, Scunny etc then losing one team wouldn't have made much of a difference.

Okay Macca didn't get the ball as I first thought, understandably from the angle I was at it looked extremely close and still does even from the replays. Very little in it though. Probably was just a penalty but it serves him right for being cheating tosser and goes a little way to making up for the lack of red for Puddy.

Our average is indeed up Luke aroud 200-300, would have been more but for the awful results in the 3 months of the season.

Who cares what Clarke has said abut the GT, the GT isn't exactly that great of a paper anyway. Besides him and Hurst are good friends, numerous times yesterday I saw Hurst and Clarke chatting to each other during the game, 4th official kept trying to get Hurst back in his own area, but they were just chatting to each other not arguing or anything.

As for the ref decisions yes I think we can feel hard done by, but its not the reason we lost, we lost because we can't finish when on top of a game, the story of our season. Its easy to blame one or two decisions for losing, and much harder to blame it on your own players not putting the ball in the net, or poor defending, not only yesterday but throughout the season.

Could have gone either way in real time, and at the time I wondered why Taylor would dive when he has gone past the keeper, but from the slow mo there that wasn't a pen for me, Mckeown has barely touched the heel of his trailing leg and the ball has run away from Taylor so he has gone down.

Just because we don't go to Blundell doesn't mean we don't enjoy beating you. Whenever I've been it's been nasty.

I meant just the midweek Grimsby game and the Boxing Day one.

When I saw the Taylor/McKeown penalty incident in real-time at the stadium, it looked like a penalty to me.
Watching that BT replay shows that the referee got it absolutely right.

Yeah but had Puddy been sent off then the Taylor incident would never have happened so no 'evening-up' to be diplomatic about. As someone else said, Puddy would have been sent off at Braintree on a Tuesday night. But going on about it won't change it. I'm just as aggrieved by our players' reluctance to let fly from near the 18 yard box. We passed up so many opportunities by trying to be clever on the edge of the box. Our crossing and pull-backs were hope-for-the-best crap yesterday. That's not to mention the woeful set pieces. Can't fault their effort, just wish we'd shot on sight a bit more.

I wished we'd not spent the second half hoofing the ball up, when Disley finally realised he was in a football match at around the 80th minute mark we played some lovely stuff.

Right, thought I'd post now that the dust has settled.

Commiserations again to Grimsby. Thought you edged the game if I'm honest. Support was louder than ours also (although aided with the help of that bloody drum, God I hate drums.) I do genuinely feel bad, I really like your club, your fans, your manager seems a nice bloke, you've got Craig Disley. Would love for you to go up next season. Partner LJL with a more consistent scorer throughout the season, wether that's Palmer or not, and I feel you'll go up.

As for the rest of you, I've got to say it's been a pleasure. I enjoyed this season more than I thought I ever could. I thought it would be hell and I ended up actually rather enjoying it. It's been good chatting to (most) of you this year. Best of luck with all of your clubs. I hope we only ever see the ones of you who get promoted though.

Grew a new found respect for the Conference. Never before really took much notice. Will always keep an eye out now. Got a feeling relegation could have been one of the best things for our club.

Massive well done to Bristol Rovers, great achievement to bounce back out of such a difficult league at the first attempt and I'd expect this to make them far stronger when they start in the Football League again. Got to feel for Grimsby though, must be wondering if they'll ever get out of this division after 3 play-off losses.

I didn't read all of it, I got annoyed after a while, but I saw a few fans mentioned how "we only stood up when the ball went in the net" and "s**t club s**t fans who deserve nothing". There was more, and it had tempted me to react. In fairness, all the fans on here are top notch.

Seeing the penalty again, its still a penalty. Taylor made a meal of it yes, and if he had just tripped more naturally, the ref wound have given it. He's done himself in there. Either way, its a foul inside the box. That's a penalty, for sure.

So you give a penalty. Do you still book Taylor? It's simulation, it's cheating. Players should not be rewarded for cheating. No penalty, yellow card for Taylor. Right call.
