So you give a penalty. Do you still book Taylor? It's simulation, it's cheating. Players should not be rewarded for cheating. No penalty, yellow card for Taylor. Right call.
If we started picking on all things we would never end with examples. Mark McChrystal's shirt was completely torn, but received no free kick. A Grimsby player was cheating so much, he managed to rip his shirt, surely a bookable offence?

But what you have also said is that McKeown has fouled Taylor. If there is no penalty, then McKeown has also been rewarded. Either way, he made a very tough call. One i believe is wrong, one your believe is right. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree

To be fair, when they showed the replay of that, McChrystal had more of the Grimsby player's shirt than the other way around, but McChrystal's shirt just ripped. I think Errea just make better quality shirts. :P1:

Blimey, I thought we still had Errea as our shirt makers. I don't even know who makes them!

Christ.

I've found the fans to be top notch in victory in the most part. Though that's two things that have come from the staff today that make them look a little bit stupid.

Two? The DC singing part?

I agree with this photo though. Although the club did formally post an apology. Still though, not great.

I haven't said he has fouled him. But then fouling and diving are not the same thing. It would be daft to suggest otherwise. Football is a contact sport and fouling is part of the game; it is up to the referee and his assistants to spot it and adjudge accordingly. Diving is cheating and has no place in the game. I would say the very same if it was a Grimsby player too.

So my mate who is a ref assessor has watched the two replays and thinks it a blatent red card for Puddy and also thinks its a pen for Taylor. However the actual assessor on the day also thinks it was a red for Puddy but agreed with the ref for Taylor on it being a dive.

Just shows how difficult a decision it was for the pen even after replays, but its anyones guess why he didn't give a red card for Puddy.

Oh well as I said that one decision didn't cost us promotion so we move on, lets just hope we don't get Joyce in an important match again next year like we have the last two seasons.

Got home late last night having stayed down there at my brothers in Surrey. Absolutely gutted, for all the hard work of the 48 games of the season previously to lose in on 1 kick of the ball is so, so cruel.

Plenty of controversial incidents in the first half. Their keeper could have walked for handling outside the area, as could have Matty Taylor for kicking McKeown in the head. On the other hand though we could well have had 2 players sent off in the first half too. Carl Magnay would have been booked for his challenge on the half way line if he hadn't been booked a few minutes earlier and McKeown did make slight contact when the ref booked Taylor for diving.

Despite the result I was proud of my team who for long spells of the game were the better side and our fans who despite being outnumbered by over 2 to 1 outsung the "one song" Rovers fans.

Anyway, whether we can keep the nucleus of this squad together we'll find out soon but whatever happens, we'll pick ourselves up and go again.

Now then, which way is Boreham Wood?

It's a straight swap, Boreham wood play in Borehamwood which is 2 miles from Barnet. It's a strange situation that a team in the Conference plays it's home games closer to Barnet than Barnet FC.

The interesting thing for me, the commentators before the game said it was only his 17th Conference National game this year. Why they gave a game of this magnitude to a guy only reffing this level every three weeks is beyond me.

Annoying thing is, when he was appointed there was a thread on the fishy bemoaning the appointment as the wrong one and hoping he'd not make a game changing decision.

Totally unsurprising that he did.

Goodbye Conference. It was only ever a short term loan ;)

Didn't play anywhere near our best, think the occasion got to the players a bit. However, Puddy didn't really have a save to make thanks to our rock solid defence and the best chance apart from the goals fell to Taylor. If he wasn't fouled by the keeper he should definitely have scored when clean through on goal. I still think he got clipped!

The Puddy hand ball was right in front of me and although I'm probably biased I think the ref got it right. The incident was very wide of goal and there were covering defenders. Not a clear goal scoring opportunity because had it not hit Puddys arm it would still have been cleared.

On the day Grimsby edged a very tight match but over the course of the season we deserved to go up. Pushed Barnet all the way and probably should have won the league had we not fluffed our lines in the last minute at Dover on the penultimate weekend.

49 matches played in the Conference, just 5 defeats and 3 of those were in the first 7 games. So 2 defeats in our last 42 games and only Barnet finished withn a better goal difference.

DC has done a fantastic job at turning our club around and I see no reason we can't push for promotion again next season.

Just read that See Tickets made more this weekend than either of the clubs did.

Robbing bastards.

Yeah, shocking that. Thing is, they'll continue to do it until football fans somehow make a stand against them and apart from boycotting ticket sales, which I can't see any club doing, they've got us by the balls.

Perversely, I had to watch that as I'd not seen it since the day. Wish I hadn't now. Really feel for JPP.

I have to say, I was impressed by some most of your fans on your forum regarding him. I think the thread started off slating him in which many backed JPP up and stoody up for him and his balls to take the actual thing. Fair play. I really hope you boys win the league next year, loved my trip away this season.

When I went away, I can honestly say I had the song "when I was young *clap clap clap clap* bla bla bla bla *clap clap clap clap* so pround to be *clap clap clap clap* GTFC *clap clap clap clap* Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" stuck in my head for actual weeks. When I finally got it out of my head, I annoyingly saw this video online which made matters worse (skip to 2:32):

Now when I heard this at Wembley, and saw the entire end bouncing to this, I found myself bouncing a little and actually said to my old man, "I bloody love this song". But PLEASE! Tell me, what are the blablablabla lyrics?!

At Blundell Park, since I was young, so proud to be...GTFC...derrr der derr der der der der

This is probably the best video of it...

Loads of teams are doing it nowadays, I think. Not exclusively a Grimsby tune!

Tis one of the generic ones that a lot of clubs sing, including ourselves with locally relevant lyrics
