Fair play to Carlisle, being relegated in August three years in a row to making the play-offs

HG may finally crack his first ever smile tonight

Both games today incredibly tight, no suprise when the legs are tired in extra time for both games theres a few goals which settle the game. Home advantage in the second legs has proved to be decisive............

Best of luck to Stockport and Carlisle in the final, I would say Stockport are favourites, but we can't have a season when ourselves and Carlisle aren't in the same league - its only happened 6 times I think in the last 28 years we've not played in the same league together...........

Congrats Carlisle & Stockport. Both sides finished higher and went for it today so seems fair they are the teams going to Wembley.

Should be a cracking final.

Someone explain to me the Hughes logic.

Crap all game, going oit, finally start playing and score………..instantly take off and attacking player for a defender and kill any momentum dead…….then watch the extra defenders all mark fresh air as other team re take lead.

Would have been going nuts if a Bradford fan

We are. Don't worry.

We've had 5/6 real crunch games this year (getting into top 3 - which we never managed and today). Bottled every single one of them. Disgraceful performance after the first 25 mins of the first leg.

We are fucked next year. Harder league with Wrexham and County coming up and you'd expect Gillingham, Mansfield and Salford to spend again. Stockport too if they don't go up. Lewis and Cook will leave too, the only reasons we made the playoffs in the first place.

Home advantage in the second legs has proved to be decisive............

Certainly the case, not just League Two as well. Only Coventry progressed to the final as the away side in the second leg. Interestingly all 4 sides that led from the first leg failed to progress.

I thought both Stockport and definitely Carlisle deserved it today. After the triple sub Stockport were far better than the previous 150 minutes, capitalised on Salford's general wastefulness.

Carlisle were the better side for me across the two games, was impressed by Moxon, not sure what Lewis was up to for the third Carlisle goal. We struggled against both Salford and Bradford this season so probably best we're not playing either of them next season.

Yeah the worst thing about promotion is losing the BT coverage. Sky is shite even when it works.

This football here is er somewhat agricultural. It’ll be a big shock when the Vanarama Galacticos turn up.

Great to see an old fashioned terrace full though.

Ha!

Wrexham will obviously have something about them with all the money they have, but what exactly will County do?

Any half decent L2 team could get 100+ points if they played in the piss poor league below.

That’s the problem with clubs that get in the POs but don’t win them. Any decent player will either be poached or become Billy Big Bollocks and want a move.

Glad to get over the line today. A combination of injuries to key players and some odd choices from DC made this tie extremely difficult.

We were 5 players short of what I think is our best 11 with today’s starting team. Nothing we can do about missing our player of the season in Wootton but hopefully looks like everybody else except for MSH is going to be available so hoping DC won’t be so foolish next week.

Nonsense. The prize for winning the playoff final should be to stay down so you get to see Williamstotaalvoetbal in real life.

Think we deserved it over the 2 games.
We looked on it today, we’ve stepped up the performances over these 2 games compared to recent displays. What a shift, what ups and downs.

Couldn’t for the life of me work out why Hughes took Banks off right after the goal.

2 really entertaining games though.

I woke up this morning and saw it coming to be fair. There was just something in the Carlisle air today
I know I predicted defeat, but I’m feeling strangely confident now. Have a feeling we’re going to win this in extra time or pens.

I feel a bit sorry for Salford losing like that.

Said absolutely fucking nobody. :woot:

I wish they had got through.

Debating going to final, live in Manchester, had Salford got through I could have gone down with the 1,000 other fans on their cheap subsidised coaches……alas not now.

We deserve that and think so far we have played best of the four play off sides (amazingly since we were the worst going into it)

The large Wembley pitch should suit the tactics also with our direct out wide play.

Because Simmo finally dropped Dennis. If you look at our form prior to Garner being dropped for Dennis, it was top 3 form. Then we dropped like a stone when Dennis came back into the side.

I wanted Salford because
1) we could play Barclay
2) we've looked better against them this season
3) them only bringing about 30 fans would be an advantage for us

He's done that a few times and the "success" ratio shows he is too old to learn from his mistakes. Any team that subs an attacker for a defender deserves to lose. The final result was the right outcome. Good luck in the final but I fear you won't be potent enough to outscore Stocky who are far superior to us.

Have that Salford you sack of shit, our team of reserves and cripples have done ya.

Carlisle next week, good final that. Hope we can do it but two proper teams who's fans will be there next season win, lose or draw.
