Happens to the champions too just ask FGR
Indeed it did, we lost Wilson, Cadden and Adams...pluse Matty Stevens with an ACL injury...didn't really replace any of them, which is where our problems started.

As for the play-offs, in the last nine seasons I think we finished in them on five occasions...the four seasons we didn't finish in them include our first season in the Football League (we stayed up by a point), the one abandoned because of the Pandemic, last season when we went up as Champions and the one just finished when we were relegated...we don't do boring seasons with nothing to play for!

An afternoon of despair, torture, embarrassment, and regret. Three hours drive and I have to listen to my dad's music collection of Simply Red and Genesis. Twat.

Anyway, well done, Carlisle. The better team over two ties. They have the type of players that we've lacked since we lost Wright in Jan - Pacy and not afraid of moving past the halfway line. I still don't think there's actually too much difference in terms of actual ability, but they were head and shoulders above us in terms of endeavor and fight. First to every second ball and always looking forwards. Think Simpson is a much better manager than Hughes too, certainly in terms of approach.

As for us...no defending such a negative approach. Absolutely criminal by Hughes if we're being honest. The best opportunity to go up in years and he absolutely shits it. Like others mentioned above, the subbing of Banks for Platt was absolutely unforgivable. Not sure what we were doing on our left side; Ridehalgh on his own on the left for the first half pretty much...what is he supposed to do? Midfield of Gilly, Tinywood, and Clayton far too slow and static. Walker the only real threat outside of Cook. I really like Stubbs but he's way too slow and could get turned by a dead sloth. We must have the slowest team in the entire ELF!

Oh well. It's only a game. We go again and all that cliched bollocks.

Should be a good final, I reckon. Not sure who I would fancy but I think it'll be close. Two good sides. Selfishly want Stockport to do it because then it's one of the bigger spenders gone.

Gotta laugh at the Bradford fans, salty that we didn't give them as many tickets in our 18000 capacity mostly terraced stadium as they gave us in their 500,000 all seater stadium saying they'd rather save their money to spend going to Wembley.

Where have Bradford City fans said that?

Someone explain to me the Hughes logic.

Crap all game, going oit, finally start playing and score………..instantly take off and attacking player for a defender and kill any momentum dead…….then watch the extra defenders all mark fresh air as other team re take lead.

Would have been going nuts if a Bradford fan

The decision to take off Banks straight after his best passage of play leading to the goal was a sackable offence.

I genuinely thought we were going to go on and snatch a winner, but no, but the strangest logic which Hughes has bumbled over with his post match interview, he decided to see out the game without our most creative outlet and try and settle for penalties.

Carlisle definitely deserved to win overall and good luck to them next weekend.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
Considering the highlights of previous games show Carlisle have a back line and goalie prone to mistakes under pressure it just seemed a bizarre decision to frankly sit back nearly the entire match apart from 5 minutes when you were losing the tie.

Now I may be harsh on Carlisle they worked so hard on off the ball play maybe Bradford couldn’t keep it enough to get going but it just seemed strange.

I do find sometimes having the lead first leg is a nightmare because the other side develops a win or bust approach from the get go.

Bradford desperately need some movement in that team

Yeah I was both baffled and relieved when Hughes took off Banks. He was the threat. Cook had done nothing, Walker had done nothing, it was Banks. And to put a defender on? I mean if they’d gone ahead I could have understood it a bit, but the tie was level with 15 to go. It was a strange strange decision.

Carlisle in the playoff final leaving hellogregory's reputation hanging in the balance is what you might be forgiven for thinking but in reality he's pulled a blinder. Carlisle go up and he's obviously buzzing, Carlisle stay down and it's the biggest told you so of all time. Either way, he's absolutely on the pitch. Well played.

Time for the first complaining about Wembley ticketing; I see Carlisle are selling their allocation in two halves, putting 19,700 up first so all their support will be grouped up together. And they're selling today.

Whereas we're sticking all 39,000 on offer from the beginning, so everyone will be all spread apart as some will pay extra for the view, others taking cheaper options. That sort of thing ruined the atmosphere in our 2008 game v Rochdale so it could be another echo chamber again. And our's only go on sale on Tuesday.

Obligatory "they should have played it at Old Trafford/Sid James Park" complaint goes here, as well

A strange thing to post, to be honest. Having a go at our fans for nothing comments, especially after the behavior of their fans at the full-time whistle.

Some of their fans on social media have been pathetic, can’t say I’ve seen anything but well wishes from our lot and an admission that we got what we deserved . Not very gracious in victory, quite pathetic at times.

Not just verbal stuff, but a young lady sustained facial injuries after Carlisle fans started throwing stuff yesterday.. Their fans are a good bunch on here for the most part but in the flesh? Some absolute troglodytes.

Well, that was something...

Brunton Park was absolutely bouncing yesterday, with all blues on all four sides doing their part to generate an atmosphere. Credit to the City fans, they managed to make plenty of noise themselves - albeit largely drowned out by the cacophony of 13,500 home fans. The result was about right, and what a moment for Ben Barclay. He must have mixed emotions about next Sunday.

A few moments have come to light in the aftermath. Some idiot throwing a vape into the city fans has left a nasty gash on one poor soul's face. Hope the muppet gets a ban if and when he's identified. He wasn't the only one lobbing stuff, by the sounds of things. And on the other side, a bunch of City fans seem to have managed to kick through the segregation wall in the East Stand. I hope they're also identified and giving a banning order - pensioners and kids don't need that stuff, from either side.

Still, it's a minority on both sides - perhaps the occasion got to them. The rest of the day will live long in my memory!

I saw some of our's chucking stuff at away fans after the pitch invasion, every club's got a handful of bellends; reckon even some of the Harrogate lot might throw haircurlers

I'd imagine we'd both take more to Old Trafford than to Wembley.

Can't see us getting to 20k this time round (we took 28k in 1995 and similar in 97, but our last couple of visits have been well under that), no trains and just one weeks notice on a bank holiday weekend. Not sure how I'm going to justify this to the Mrs, but there's always divorce...

Harrogate's are a bunch of menaces. Last time they were here they were throwing teabags at the Costa drive-thru next to the ground.

The kick-off time is a joke. If you're going to force everyone to go to London then you can't make it earlier than 3pm

Wouldn't hold it against him if he wasn't torn and was firmly in your camp; he's barely had a look in here, under either Rusk or Challinor (which is strange because it sounds like he'd slot in nicely in our back three), would surely have built up a better relationship with the Carlisle camp, no-one would begrudge him a move this summer. But if you pay the wages, you can set the terms.

Silly question but I assume he can't play in the final for Stockport as he's on loan to Carlisle until a certain date I'm guessing?

Every club seems to have it creeping back in again. We have our own Stone island chavs who would have run a mile crying to their mums if they had have been around in the 70's and 80"s when it kicked off.

Good luck on Sunday

Not registered in our squad by the end of the winter window, so we can't use him again.

Think we could if he was younger (like Ethan Pye, whom we had to recall from Gateshead) he'd have been elligible

Would have been a helluva internal conflict for Barclay if he were allowed to play!

Can't you lot do something more productive, like troll Gary Neville about how he'll have to sack another manager?
