Im surprised your lot missed out. Along with Coventry two of the best teams we have played against.
We were far too inconsistent and took way too long to replace Marquis, if we had completed the season I still feel we would have finished outside the top six

Oh don't, can you imagine, Wycombe in the Championship?

Wouldn't be so bad if the knock on effect was similar to Yeovil's sharp fall from grace
Wycombe Wanderers: A team that thrives off of acts of god.

I would love to hear Champ fans whining over Wycombe’s time wasting from minute one antics

It'd be even more dramatic in the second tier.

We don't have a competitive wage budget for L1, god knows what the mismatch would be like in the Championship. So we'd have to crank up the shithousery even more to compensate.

Anyway, I think it's unlikely we'll make it, our best CB is a cotton-wool Ledley King type who probably won't be able to play 3 games in quick session (as in the 2 semis plus the final) and we fare noticeably worse without him.

There are a few clubs who do a bit of the old Wycombe routine already in the championship. Don’t think Forrest have won a game all season where they have had the majority of possession (they might have by now mind), Cardiff and a few others.

We haven’t been averse to it at times this season either and might have done us better than what we tried to do for the majority of the season, our Croatian keeper loves a bit of time wasting. Its a reasonable way to compete with the ridiculous money being spent. You can’t compete with Leeds et al playing on there terms.

I just cannot get my head around the fact that my pub team are potentially only 3 games away from playing in the Championship. I can still clearly recall games both home and away that I had the stand to myself. Given various permutations I and my fellow 150+ travelling Cods could be rocking up to West Ham et el.

What the f*** are their players and more interestingly their fans going to think about it all. It may be, well done pluckly little Fleetwood, but more likely it will be the general response when we got into League 2 then 1, "how low has MY club sunk having to play the likes of Fleetwood (wherever the f*** that is in the country).

One thing that does pee me off about my club, how the hell can they dig up the pitch re-seed and having it look immaculate in under 4 weeks, meanwhile I spend a ton of time and money and love on my little lawn and it still looks dogshite.

Enjoy it Pug.
It happens to most of us to a certain extent.
When we beat the likes of Ipswich, Sunderland, Wolves, Sheffield United, West Ham etc. over the years we always get the same response “how the fuck can we be losing to shit like Gillingham?”.
Makes it even sweeter.

I'm hoping Oxford go up, never been, I reckon it would be a good away day.

Even if Karl Robinson is a complete and utter cock.

We went to Oxford in January, it's a great weekend away and obviously it has many attractions in the city centre, but there are no pubs near the ground.
We finished up in the bowling alley pre-match, but it's probably best to stay in the city then get a taxi up to the ground which is 5 miles away.

The Kassam has the atmosphere of an abandoned warehouse. The old Manor Ground was much better, good times going there!!!

A typical out of town stadium with no pubs and the added benefit of being a wind tunnel.

It’s far from brilliant. A soulless ground that is typical of a ground done on a budget. The lease expires shortly and there is talk of a new ground as an option... the lease agreed was a horrible one and has held the club back in many ways.

Before we played in January I went on the Oxford Forum to see what was being said about the forthcoming match. I got looking at the posts about the ground so I'm aware about the problems you have had with the Landlords.
I seem to remember there are a couple of alternative sites but not near the city centre, which is a pity but then getting enough room for a football stadium in a popular tourist centre is probably impossible without the council being involved.

When we were first muted as having a new ground after we left Millmoor there was initial talk of moving out to an industrial estate at Hellaby near the M18 which is 5 or 6 miles out of town. Also at the Retail Park at Parkgate which is about a mile from the town centre so was a better prospect but the traffic on a match day would have been horrendous.

Luckily for us the town council were very supportive and found some spare land 5 minutes walk from the town centre. It's not a huge site but gave us just enough room to build the stadium we have which is far better than I could ever have imagined.
It's only 12000 capacity and police never allow it to be totally full but it's big enough for us given the fact we are so close to the Sheffield clubs, plus with sharing borders with Barnsley and Doncaster doesn't give us a huge catchment area.

The Manor was great, but a typically compact ground built to fit the space available in amongst a bowls green, a petrol station and some houses albeit centrally! I would anticipate any new ground would be outside of the city centre. To be honest it’s probably going to be everyone’s sixth choice... Land in Oxfordshire to stick a new football stadium would be more than challenging. It just simply is not available. Land that has been muted as a potential site thus far is Kidlington/Bicester direction which could be a problem as it is that little bit further away for supporters traditionally OUFC supporters, but needs must I suppose.

All of our players whose contracts ended (bar McGee and a couple of youths) have had them extended for the play-offs. Good news for us as it was looking dodgy regarding Raggett and Burgess' deals. At least we should be at full strength now.

Burgess is leaving us for the Belgian second division afterwards so I'm hoping for the best send off possible.

Seems a bit of a random move? Won't that be on par with a L1 side?

Yeah but Burgess is very pro-EU and this team were willing to give him a 3-year-deal at the age of 28 whilst we wouldn't match terms. I get the feeling he wants to play in Europe and now is the best chance before Boris' buffoonery leads this country into a no-deal Brexit.

He has probably been our most consistent performer this season yet I don't think he's got the nous for the Championship.

Gonna be an interesting one. Having watched the games that have been on sky its very likely to be the side who plays the best football rather than the team who has setup to last longer at 100%.. This plays into Oxfords hands as they are probably the best footballing side. However --- When we played them at Fratton Park apart from our shocking finishing we murdered them. They had one decent long cross to Taylor in the 90th minute for their only decent shot in the whole game to make it 1-1. I just have no clue which Pompey are going to turn up, as I expect thats the same for everyone for their own teams. At least the champ and the prem get a few games to get into the swing of things. Our record in the playoffs isn't good reading. We have failed to win any playoff game ever!!!

The nerves are building.. the playoffs are always complete one offs, but the four month break really ups the uncertainty of it all. Absolutely no idea what to expect, I'm just praying we turn up better than we did last year

I'm predicting 1-0 to Fleetwood.

Obviously I'm hoping for a win (well duh), but would take a draw and even a narrow defeat would be OK.

As long as we turn up (and whatever opposition fans may think of Ainsworth, it's incredibly rare that I've not seen an Ainsworth side up for it and scrapping), and we're still in it for the second leg, I think I'm OK.

Good luck to all four!

I suspect most Imps will be behind Sir Gareth Ainsworth.

I just hope we win today as I don't fancy us in the return leg. We have to break our duck at some point, don't we?

I think I'm supporting Pompey in the early game, although they gave us a proper (and deserved) shoeing at theirs we've got a better recent record against them than we have against OUFC. So "play up" and all that jazz.

Krazy motherf***** Ken is back to his old tricks and decided that our club captain should step aside for Bryn Morris, who hasn't played for (I think) over a year..

Happy to see Bryn get a chance but that is a massive call.

Tough conditions on the Fylde coast, strong winds and rain, lousy to play and probably watch.
One goal to decide the 2 leg affair which will go to.........

Wouldn't mind seeing Oxford go up,not because I like them.I just find some of there supporters to be arrogant thinking they are a big club.. when there not. They also have a twat of a manager so I'd be pleased to see them gone !!!
