Tough conditions on the Fylde coast, strong winds and rain, lousy to play and probably watch.
One goal to decide the 2 leg affair which will go to.........

Yeah I saw that. Doesn’t bode well for our hoofs getting anywhere near Akinfenwa’s bonce, sadly.

Following our usual play-off tactics. Draw at home, lose away. Hopefully it's enough this time.

Horrible sense of deja vu right now. Could have had 3 (maybe 4?) pens too. Ackkk

Could have had a pen or two in that game but generally a drab showing after such a promising start. No doubt we'll blow it in the away leg.

As I was saying, one goal to decide...Wycombe much the better team , never a penalty for Fleetwood, shocking tackle by Coyle, some iffy keeping by Cairns -redeemed somewhat by a superb penalty save. God knows what the second half will bring

Fleetwood 'keeper has had a shocker here, should have done better with all 4 goals.

Suppose Barton will probably blame the ref for the red card/penalty (which was missed) though.

All that money Fleetwood, it’s nice to see them struggle, especially with a thug like Barton in charge. Cod army? Embarrassing

Another red card for dissent - not often you see that.

well, we're totally capable of screwing this up, even now, but you wouldn't think that missing 2 of your established first teamers (and an L1 top scorer) is a plus point to take into a second leg.

Time will tell though.

Its quite extraordinary, before Covid Fleetwood were on a fantastic run and Wycombe's form particularly on the road was dire. Tonight everything went out the window, an evening Cairns will want to forget ( he is a very good keeper for us ) 2 red cards and not a shot to trouble their goalie all the game. You Wycombe fans must be over the moon and rightly so. You looked good throughout the game and were never really threatened by us
Barring a miracle of biblical proportions Wycombe will be in the final and I wish the team, Gareth Ainsworth and all their fans all the best

The Fleetwood keeper had an absolute shocker, remember last season he had a bit of a shocker against us at there place bit tonight was dreadful. Directly responsible for at least 2 goals and for me should have done better with the other 2. Fully expecting him to be on the Fleetwood “released” list in 5 days time, especially with Barton around!

That’s Wycombe in the final I think, no way are an Ainsworth side letting the second leg be open enough for Fleetwood to get back in the tie

yeah, to be fair I really wasn't expecting that result (was anyone?) but other than the penalty decision which Evans converted, everything went our way pretty much (as in we got the rub of the green, helped by some poor decisions by key FTFC players, I don't mean "omg we were amazeballs and the best team evaaaaah"...because obviously not).

It looked like horrible conditions to play in in terms of the wind and the rain, which maybe accounted for at least one Cairns error.

I kind of feel that Madden not getting anything in the preamble to his sending off may have been the ref evening up his earlier dodgy call.

i'm not gloating because I have no rivalry whatsoever with Fleetwood Town, and I know how this tie could still come round to bite us on the arse, but this headline does seem a little funny in retrospect.

Wycombe are going to get promoted aren't they? They are going to get slaughtered in the Championship.

the first sentence is the furthest thing from a foregone conclusion.

the second (should the first come true) is very much a foregone conclusion.

what can you do though, not try?

If they do go up wouldn’t surprise me if they do at least better than us or can scrape up.

There football could allow them to grind out points I think.

We aren’t necessarily playing a Wycombe way at the moment but since we started being a bit more conservative and playing on the break a bit we’ve picked up far more points.

You aren’t going to put football most teams in the division and since we stopped trying to do that we have done better, Wycombe seem far better placed to play that style than we have been.

We'll come back stronger from this, its all about how you bounce back and character and Barton and especially the Chairman will look at this way. The club can still be proud of what has been achieved this season, the manager enters his final year of a 3 year contract, he has done an excellent job and I expect him to move on to a Championship club, one things for certain it wont be your lot

No doubt, the enigmatic genius is too good for us. On the other hand, I don't think the local police would want him in Lincoln, the 6000 season ticket holders certainly wouldn't. A degenerate thug is not what a well run community conscious club would look for in a manager.

A bit hoof ball isn't it?
I thought they played 'football' in League One?

it’s only us that doesn’t, everyone else plays like Barcelona and their players all get fined if they hit a pass that goes more than an inch off the ground.

But if we stay down next season I’m sure we can have lots of fun playing hoofball battleship, thumping it to one another’s keeper for 90 mins (although to be fair 30 of those minutes will be taken up by our goalie taking his time).

And another 50 mins by the rest of the team

Don't forget that all Wycombe games must have minimum of 10 minutes added time.

True. This one I think is kind of counterproductive to say the least...if we’re winning but sodding about, all the time just gets added back on at the end anyway.

Not talking about running the ball into the corner near the end (which everyone does), but “convenient” injuries, substituting the bloke who happens to be at the furthest corner of the pitch and has to stop to do up his shoelaces before walking off the pitch, etc.

Wouldn't mind seeing Oxford go up,not because I like them.I just find some of there supporters to be arrogant thinking they are a big club.. when there not. They also have a twat of a manager so I'd be pleased to see them gone !!!

What a well balanced chap you are. A chip on both shoulders.

I've used science to predict the result of our second leg vs Oxford.

Our previous away leg play off results:
L 0-1 86th minute goal
L 0-1 91st minute goal
L 0-1 63rd minute goal

Averaging this out we will lose 0-1 with a goal in the 80th minute. Can't wait.

There's no doubt that we were under par on Friday. We can, and usually do, play much more fluidly. I think the conditions suited Portsmouth's style of play and enabled them to dictate the pattern of play for the first 25 minutes or so. Although we then had a reasonable spell (and scored) I still feel there is much much more to come from us on Monday.

Cautiously optimistic, based on the fact that we are much better than Friday's performance and we've now got the cobwebs out of our system. I'm not sure the same is true of Portsmouth.

Going to peer over the fence for this one?
