I really don't get fanboyism when it comes to consoles.

Especially when gaming pcs absolutely piss all over them.

PC's aren't the master race everyone thinks they are.

Where is Arkham Knight, Bloodborne, Halo 5 on the PC??

kind of agree, I love pc gaming for certain types FM obviously, the strategy games work far better on pc, Civ 5 etc

but rpgs I find a lot better on consoles, no idea why I just prefer the controls (i'm aware you can buy xbox joypads etc)

Yes but then you're talking about the litany of other titles that aren't available on console, as well as the console exclusives that have PC ports and the argument falls down. There are downsides to PC gaming, namely system requirements and local multiplayer functionality, but choice isn't one of them. If I had the space and money I'd definitely hock my PS4 and invest in a gaming PC.

can't believe you're a 31 year old Xbox fanboi that still thinks Halo is really good. Grow up.

Tried becoming too much like CoD with power-ups/special abilities. Halo 3 was amazing. That and CoD4 released at similar times, what a time to be alive. Many a school night was devoted to those two games.

It makes me sad that COD and Halo are going to be the childhood highlights of the sub-generation below me. BACK IN MY DAY we were playing Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Mario, Zelda, PES when it was really, really good and a smattering of adult-only games like MGS, Final Fantasy and the good GTA games. Where is the charm, creativity, imagination in your standard Halo title? FUCKIN NOWHERE THAT'S WHERE.

Played Crash Bandicoot, Spyro and PES loads when I was really young. It's the same generation of people as the CoD4/Halo one. Oh, and LMA Manager! :)

I remember playing the likes of Mario Bros 3 on the NES, Alex Kidd on the Master system, MegaMan 3, Altered Beast, Joe n Mac Caveman Ninjas - when games were all about gameplay and were genuinely difficult to complete. Then Crash Bandicoot, Spyro and the new generation of Mario came along and pah! It was all down the toilet from there....
The generation below me missed out I tell thee!

Fucking hell. I grew up playing Maziacs, Manic Miner, Jet Set Willy etc on the Speccy, before moving to an Atari ST (Premier Manager!!! What a game) and Megadrive, then onto PS.

These youngsters know less than Jon Snow about gaming, I'll tell thee.

Maziacs was awesome. As we're probably alienating the rest of them now we might as well get onto the subject of the Dragon32 and Chuckie Egg!

Do you remember when games came in cassette form? It must have been Christmas 1987 and I got a Commodore 64 as my present from Father Christmas. I spent most of the morning loading and then rewinding games. Don't know they're born youngsters these days.

Haha, yeah remember the blue and yellow loading lines at the side of the screen on the Spectrum then, the picture would populate line by line by bloody line!!
Those cassettes used to take ages to load.

I loved Maziacs as well JimJams, that little stick guy was a legend!!
Remember Dragon32 and Chuckie Egg well too, used to enjoy the Dizzy games, speaking of eggs.

These pesky kids, they've never had it so good.

The dizzy games were epic and fucking hard. Nothing ever made sense and if you died that was it. Rewind, load and start again. I could be wrong ( it was a long time ago) but I think you had to complete those games back then in one go. Never had it so good these young uns :bg:

That's nothing - Hideo Kojima was planning to release a game where you had to buy the cartridge again every time you died.

Imagine that!

Luxury.

Back in my day we 'ad to draw our games int' sand with a sharp stick and use rocks as the floor for the levels. Then we 'ad to grab a little beetle and make him run around as the player character.

Still got my old Atari and one of my Speccy's. Just wish I'd kept my old Star Wars collection!

With CENTIPEDE! And a joystick that could literally only be moved by an adult gorilla.

Doesn't sound like the 2600 or XE then.

Me and my mate made a couple of gash games for the ST though when in our teens. Graphics always done on Degas Elite!!

More than likely the ST KEV!!!

Amiga owners back then were the equivalent of the current PC Master Race.... Always harping on about games being superior on the Amiga. Graphically there was little to choose, bar the Amiga having a greater colour pallete, which was noticeable in a few games like Sensible Soccer and Kick Off.

ST was far superior in terms of audio though and was the go to computer of it's time for Synth players because of its MIDI capabilities.

My ST made me happy :)

The 2600 with the dildo joystick. :D

Loved my Amiga's afterwards also. Good times.
I had an Amiga 600. I remember the games being fantastic. Jaguar XJ and shadowlands. Did you have them salty? ( this thread really has been sabotaged by the old git brigade) apologies youngsters:bg1:

No I never had an ST, Jaguar, Megadrive (regret that a bit) or Nintendo consoles.

If I remember correctly I've had an Atari 2600, Sinclair 48k and 128k, Amiga 500 and 1200, Playstation, a few gaming pc's, xbox 360 and just bought a PS4 the other day which I'm enjoying.

I've had a 2600, a rubber key 48k Speccy, 128k Speccy, Atari ST 520 and later 1040(Llamatron, a shareware game was fucking amazing) , Megadrive, Gameboy, Sega Game Gear, Atari Lynx, Atari Jaguar (Briefly, loved Tempest 2000, Syndicate, Myst and Zool 2 on the Jag), Playstations 1-4.

Never owned a gaming PC though.

Us old guys who were about in the halcyon days are the lucky ones IMO. Nothing anymore really makes you go wow like it used to.

Did anyone watch "That's So Last Century" last night? They had a couple of old computers on there. Brought back some memories.
