A lot of Vale fans are playing down the importance of this one. I certainly think it’s a massive game and the result could have a big say in which teams eventually fill the bottom 2 places of the basement division.

It’s near enough a must win game for both sides; although I’d be content if we didn’t lose as we lose no ground and games are running out.

Expecting Chesterfield to have some confidence after a good win yesterday. Hopefully we can build on some better performances in the last few games and get 3 points.

This is without doubt 10 times more important than Monday in my view. If you look up relegation 6 pointer in the dictionary it'll point to this fixture.

Haven't seen any Vale fans play it down since yesterday in fairness. Losing is unthinkable and arguably our biggest game in decades such is what is riding on it.

Chesterfield seem to have a dire away record and we have only lost once in four months at home (and how we lost that is still baffling)... we need to put the level of performance in that we have in recent weeks and hope we can start putting the chances away.

Don't think we will lose this but not sure if we will win it either! Hoping the return of the Pontiff, could be a ding dong Good Friday tie... like the Cheltenham one in our promotion season with the Pope inspiring a sneaky 1 goal win.

Id rather win this than Monday because then we take points of Chesterfield.

Draw please
You are safe as houses
As for the match it is huge, defeat and i;d say we are down. Chesterfield would be 2 points behind with 2 in hand and i can see Grimsby beating an awful Stevenage, though granted Grimsby are awful themselves.
Cacking myself, cannot contemplate non-league football.

Where have all the Chesterfield fans gone? I’m sure there used to be a few on here a few years ago during our promotion era. Remember them and that weird Rotherham fan falling out all the time.

That must be the famous SERNWA, another laugh from those heady days was Firthy the crowd obsessed Bradford fan.

Firthy still on League one, i go on now and then cos i like to see the away followings particularly Plymouth who take big numbers everywhere. Firthy still frequents there.
SERNWA got banned i think, probably fell out with every opposition fan going when a Rotherham thread was on.

Christ. Dan Phillips and SERAWA having a pop at each other. I think half the Rotherham fans hated SERAWA.

He got banned a few times but would come back under different weird guises.

Anyway that has taken my mind off Friday for a while, those heady mid-table league one days, i thought i was in bits v PNE the 2-2 and Yeovil away a couple of seasons ago, our very League existence will be decided within the next month.
Having already booked digs for a weekend in Cambridge it had better be one of relief at staying up rather than the unthinkable.

The other odd Rotherham fan started stalking me for real as he wrongly thought I'd banned him from our message board. Had to block the weirdo on Facebook as he'd send random & slightly sinister messages.

He posts still under a different username on here too.

I've been in hiding since naively predicting in the summer that we'd be challenging for the play offs come the end of the season:bye::bye:

As for this game, it'll be my 3rd away game of the season after notts county and mansfield because if we can get the points here then we are the team in the driving seat out of the bottom 4 teams and will be able to see us staying up... but after the way this seasons gone I won't be celebrating anything until mathematically safe :dk:

Prediction: Very cagey game, can't see many chances for either team, but think we'll nick it 1-0 with a drew Talbot header at the front post :2thumb:

Only change I would imagine will be Pope back in for Forrester. Whether he will be lacking sharpness after being out for a while is another matter. Other than that I'd set up the same way as at Wycombe. Glad to see the penny dropped and went away from Pugh and Tonge in the middle. I'm ok with one but not both, no surprise by all accounts we played with more energy on Saturday.

Will take us to win this as law of averages says we have to win at some point, nothing more scientific than that.

We've got to follow that performance up from yesterday. Win this and I can see myself to thinking we might stop up... Would be one hell of an escape

A lot depends on Pope playing or not. If he does, we will get our long overdue win. If not, its a certain draw which will not be a disaster for us with the potentially winnable Crewe game following on Monday. I think we will be at least 2 points better off by Monday.

40 crosses last home game so if we repeat that feat with Pope then its a totally different outcome I guess. We will see. Can he manage two games in 4 days though!

First away day of the season for me.

Far too bigger game to miss, just praying we find some consistency.
We seem to have found a little bit of form recently (apart from that second half vs Lincoln) at the most important stage of the season, with 7 points out of a possible 12! Keep that up from now till the end of the season and we should be ok!

As for the away following, my prediction would be somewhere between 800-1000 as everyone knows how important this game is in securing survival!

Surely bring more than that? We've often took more than that to your place for games?

We normally would in such a game, but the discontent amongst the fans with the owners of the club has had a detrimental impact on our home and away following all season!! I'm hoping the stayaways return for this game but realistically I can't see us taking much more than 1,000!! Hoping to be proven wrong

Play off season? :dk:
You'd like to think with this game being even more important than that we'd take more

To be fair your last two visits were on a snowy late November Saturday and a Friday night before New Year...

How far we've both fallen over this time.

Which is a little concerning in itself. If they don't realise the importance of this game at this stage, you wonder what the hell they're thinking!

I dont think that we are basing our survival on just one game to be honest. Lose this, and we are still in with a good chance given that Barnet are almost gone, and Grimsby are showing no signs of recovering.

However, I'd much rather we didn't lose this one!
