Chesterfield looked full of it last weekend in fairness but looked much different today, seems to be like us last season in a polar opposite away from home maybe? They’ve got a chance, Grimsby are falling still and they play each other soon don’t they?

Boomer taken to hospital after a stroke :( has a small one pre game but didn’t want to let the kids down! Fair play. Hope the guy who was having CPR behind the Bycars pulls through too.

Just seen the highlights and I’d say the ref was right to send Pugh off. Awful ball from Tonge though once again showing why he should be no where near the starting 11.

Seen that Jack Lester is moaning about not getting enough decisions from the ref. Except numerous throw ins given the wrong way and 2 free kicks around the edge of the area; one of which was given because your player kicked the floor and fell over, the other was given because Nathan Smith had the nerve to run behind and around your player and brushed against him making him fall over like he had been taken down.

I've not seen the sending off again but it looked about as a clear a 2018 red card as you'll get.

I didn't notice any throw-ins that were clearly wrong but at the time I was surprised we got the free-kick we scored from.

The whole issue again arises from honesty and being around the referee. Aspin has banned diving, feigning and surrounding the referee... look at the difference in outcomes... their lad does one of the most obvious red cards you will ever see... Hannant is out of it on the floor but there was no running up etc.

Pugh does his foul their guy is acting like he’s been shot in the knee and their lads are running up to the ref and shoving etc before a miracle recovery as soon as the red comes out.

Two different outcomes with Pughys arguably less severe than the clothes line.

We’ve got to play the game like our opponents do but it just doesn’t pay to not do it.

It’s ok Aspin criticising their player for milking it but everyone does it and we are losing an advantage by not doing it... it’s sad but that’s the way the game is now days.

The free kick was just bizarre, no idea what he saw to give it, the whole home side went “wayyyy” laughing after his air kick missing the ball. Good hit mind from the dead ball.

Four yellows over some handbags in the corner was a bit over the top too.

I only saw two cards and only realised four had been dished looking at my phone.

Virtually nothing happened. Two honest players and an accidental coming together.

He gave two initially ran to the half way line then gave two more. Passionate game few handbags. Assume he was demoted from the Championship!

Sounds like the chap who was being CPR in the Bycars has had a heart attack but is still with us thankfully.

Doha has put the clips up on OVF of the elbow and the "foul" for the freekick.

Safe to say that referee was trying to relegate us and Jack Lester can fuck right off if he thinks they were hard done by AT ALL. 3 game changing decisions, 1 right, all 3 Chesterfields way.

We'd have won that game by a much clearer margin if it was refereed competently.

And this is from someone who thought a yellow was fair for the elbow in the ground, wasn't sure about the player tripping himself up, although I did and still do think that Pugh was rightfully sent off.

Thank god we won. Would have been an utter joke if he'd have cost us.

Looks worse than I first thought! Not sure if Doha can get it up on here but that’s diabolical.

The free kick Hannant is about a good three feet away!

Seen a freeze frame of the Pugh red card and to be fair he catches him on the ankle stud up but is only one footed. Similar to the Crewe one even time and area of the pitch with Tonge.

That's a sending off all day, you just can't jump in like that. It was an idiotic challenge in a nothing part of the pitch minutes before half time.

That elbow is also a straight red mind, leads with a raised arm, he knew what he was doing.

Both red cards. With regards to the freekick, he probably doesn’t catch him but if you leave your foot in like that, even just a tickle, and you’re asking for a foul against you.

I agree, it's the fact he leaves the floor, it's out of control and I think most referees even the incompetent ones would send a player off for doing it.

Definitely a red for Pugh, needless challenge.
The other two clips confirm what we knew....the ref was diabolical.
Lester needs to put his crack pipe down as his comments are friggin ludicrous

Probably one of the worst displays of refereeing I’ve ever seen in my entire life.

Firstly, he should’ve sent their lad off in the first 30 seconds for a wrestling manoevure which I thought had knocked Luke Hannant out. Totally bottled it because it was so early in the game. Then, he sends Danny Pugh off for, admittedly, an over the top challenge which was a yellow card at most; their lads made a meal out of it and was up on his feet 10 seconds after. Their players were straight to the ref although they didn’t need to be because the ref has already made up his mind without thinking through the decision.

Gave a free kick because their player kicked the floor and fell over; Chesterfield subsequently score from the free kick. The ref then preceded to lose total control of the game. Gave us a free kick in the corner but ended up booking 2 of our players, 2 of theirs and nobody (even the players) had any idea what was going on. Also, not sure where he got 6 minutes of injury time from it was 4 minutes absolute maximum.

In terms of the match we were by far and away the better side even when playing with 10 men. First half we could have been 2 or 3 up, second half playing against 11 and the ref was just as good and we got forward and constantly hit them on the counter as they committed men forward to try and get the win.

Chesterfield look like a side that have given up and have accepted their fate; worst side I’ve seen all season.

Massive praise to Montano. The guy has been an absolute revelation at left back and should have been man of the match today.

Louis Reed looks a real talented player.
Is there such a thing as an over the top, yellow challenge?

A real sickener to lose it so late but we can’t really complain as even though we hit the woodwork twice I thought we deserved to lose. If you can beat 10 men (definite red) you’re in real trouble and we just didn’t kick on after we equalised (never a free kick however)

Good day though, we went up Newcastle under Lyme pre match and it was so good we missed the kick off, much better than the usual day out in Stoke watching Town at Vale. Hopefully we will be still around to come back next season..
