How about this goal? Mexes vs Inter. Zlatan-esque.

Interesting squad Howe is putting out against Nantes tonight. Either we have a few worrying injury issues, or Howe reckons some of the youth are up to it.

Bloody hell, we're beating a very strong Lyon team 6-0 with just under 5 minutes remaining. I only got in 10 minutes ago but I caught Ozil's goal and I've just seen Cazorla score a free-kick with his left foot, what a piss take.

Van Gaal has said a couple of times that the players that get the 60 minutes in this game against Barca are likely to be the ones he goes with on the first day of the season against Spurs. We are currently lining up like this...

De Gea
Darmian Jones Blind Shaw
Mata Schneiderlin Carrick Young
Depay
Rooney
...hopefully the shape and positions of the players is subject to change because that really doesn't seem like the best use of the players we have at our disposal.

Why are you playing a winger as number 10 and a number 10 as a winger?

Exactly. And a CM (LB at a push) as a CB.

Positives: Depay, De Gea, Young and Darmian.
Negatives: Mata playing wide (far too slow) and Rooney's performance.

We should switch Depay out wide and move Mata centrally. Overall a decent half for us, after a dodgy start.

Managed a 0-0 against Nantes with a mixture of a side. Missed a late penalty to win it as well

Schweinsteiger isn't world class any longer. He'd still be at Bayern if that was true.

He may not have the legs from a few years back but in terms of experience and having won it all, I'm sure he's got plenty else to give this United team building to get back amongst Europe's elite. Will most probably be rotated with Carrick sitting beside Schneiderlin, can't go wrong their imo.

Schweinsteiger not at his peak > 90% of midfielders available.

Once he gets his fitness up he'll provide plenty to our midfield. His know-how could prove vital in the bigger games. With him, Herrera, Carrick and Schneiderlin we've got very strong options for central midfield. Add a central defender and striker, then we'll be set for the new season.

Not sure what on earth happened with Lyon. Just crazy. Hope they won't be like that in Europe this season!

Arsenal were brilliant at times to be fair. Some of their counter attacks were like United at their Rooney/Ronaldo/Tevez peak.

I'm not sure about that, Zelalem is a seriously talented lad and he looks miles above everybody else at his age. I haven't seen much of Iwobi as I missed most of yesterdays game but be took his goal well and he was alright in Singapore. My only concern with Zelalem is his strength, or lack of it. He's incredibly lightweight and I'm not sure he's ever going to be tough enough to play for us regularly, but then he is still only 18.

I don't get the dislike over Mata and Depay being played where they are. It wasn't till Mata was played wide that he truly shined at United, after almost a year of never being worth what we paid. And Depay has added much needed pace and trickery to our centre, which is what we need.

In any case, Van Gaal is doing what he said he wanted to do with Di Maria last season, experiment. If it works, it works, if it doesn't he will change it.

Courtois is a good penalty kicker.

In last nights match it was evident it wasn't working. Every counter attack was halted as Mata didn't have the pace to stay ahead of the defender. I was very impressed with Depay's movement last night.

LvG has loved Mata as a false winger since the Liverpool game last year. I don't think beating men and whipping one in is the intention of playing him there, he's to pull players out of position to make more room for others. It looks frustrating but has proven effective.

Same. Lyon looked perfectly fine before Arsenal's opening goal. Not sure if it was Arsenal turning it on or Lyon just taken aback by some kind of blitz in which they conceded 4 goals in 10 minutes (or something like that).
Oh and Grenier got injured. Great.

Seriously though, I'm not sure Depay's best position is as a winger. His vision has really surprised me and his movement playing off Rooney has been a constant threat. I also remember being impressed with him playing up front at the World Cup. Mata excelled as a wide playmaker last season, cutting in and playing through balls and scoring goals, so I don't have any problems with him playing there. When Darmian gets up to full fitness and his relationship with his new team mates improves I'm confident he'll prove to be a very good outlet running down the right flank with his pace and directness.

Reine-Adelaide looks quite the player for a 17 year-old.

I wouldn't put Zelalem ahead of Crowley on the evidence of the past season.
