Top man is Rafa. If there’s any manager in the world you’d want at a club where the owner is in the mould of Mike Ashley, it’s him.

He’s been down this route before, but the situation is even more tragic. Ashley has kidnapped the club.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
Really can’t stand these huge international tour malarkies. Especially in a World Cup year.

It will have been very good for the young lads to have some games, but why not just play the local FL clubs like the good old days?

You want to have seen the abuse I've had on Youtube from Utd fans, for suggesting Liverpool could actually challenge City for the league this season and that we have a good chance of overtaking you guys in the process. All the 'deluded', 'You'll Never Win Anything' comments came out. Shocked I was, utterly shocked!

I wouldn't pay much attention to YouTube comments.

You've definitely got the squad to challenge for the title this season but if City are anywhere near as good as they were last season it'll be a tough ask for Liverpool to match or better them.

Scathing words from my main man, I just wonder how Salty is going to respond to that.

Shots fired you have to say.

Anyway, we're playing Napoli tonight fielding what should be if not the West Ham eleven then very close to it. The Front Three™, Keita and Fabinho in midfield and Alisson getting his debut in goal. Should be Robertson and Clyne flanking VVD and probably Gomez in the middle.

Only question mark is who's going to play as the nr 10. Most people would probably guess Shaqiri given how well he performed there last time out (given against some small no-mark club), but Klopp said he played there because it's the simplest position in our system so it makes sense to hand a debut there.

Can't think of a good alternative though so that will probably be the eleven.

Our defence is going to get destroyed when we actually play a good side.

And there we have it, a 3-0 home defeat to Borussia Mönchengladbach rounds up our pre season. Could have easily been 5+. Bring on the new season.

1-1 v Sampdoria.

Deeney with the strike.

Decent 2nd half performance - without Chalobah, Doucouré and Deulofeu again..need them back next week really.

So glad I didn't renew and a massive lol@ the people who did. A long season ahead after yet another shite transfer window.

We beat Napoli (a week behind us in their preparations) 5-0 in Dublin. Scorers were Milner, Wijnaldum, Salah, Sturridge and Moreno in that order.

Alisson's distribution is sensational and Firmino has put on some weight over the summer.

Firmino has put on some weight over the summer.
He does tend to do that, I remember him looking slightly podgy when he came back last season.

Sounded a rout. Was out so didn't get to see the match, but everyone seemed to be sharp and Alisson had a good debut. All good. :)

Well it's a lot more this time around. With Sturridge looking so sharp this whole pre-season I'm not sure Firmino should start against West Ham.

He loses it quickly enough, after a week or so he's back to being super Bobby. He must love focaccia or something as it isn't long since the world cup to have put on that weight.

He'll probably get another run-out against Torino through the week to burn some more off!

Stuck just the 5 past the Europa League finalists Marseille today. 5-2 it ended.

Lost 2-0 to Betis last night mind.

That Brooks lad looks a real prospect.

Cardiff lost 2-1 to Real Betis reserves...

Backing them to go down is printing money.

I watched the game 'cause I'm a Napoli supporter: embarassing. I noticed an incredible difference in shape and condition between the two teams. Lots of Napoli's turnovers were unforced, players looked still unconfortable in the system of the new coach.

Hoping in a better performance for Thursday.

I stewarded Fulham v Celta Vigo today. Can't have been that good judging by the number of people out on the concourse drinking beer while the match went on.

We did a lose at home to Augsburg.

Augsburg? Really? Robbed again?

edit:

btw: Germany's footy mag Kicker had yesterday a frontpage story about your club on its webpage

http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...ma_ein-lehrstueck-aus-der-premier-league.html

(I can't remember that they've done it before. Sorry, the article is only in German but I thought I could mention it here nonetheless just for info (try google translate )

We're always robbed when we lose mate.

Yeah, Ashley's cuntery is getting a lot more attention since Rafa joined, a high profile manager with the balls to speak about and criticise him in public. Nobody else has done that, Keegan aside. This sort of nonsense has been going on for 11 years remember, and the general football public are only beginning to really pay attention to it now. Previously we've had 'yes men' like McClaren and Pardew who were just delighted to have a job they didn't deserve. Keegan won a constructive dismissal case against this regime 9 years ago and nobody batted an eyelid. Rafa knows he can walk in to another, better, job once his contract is up. And what's Jabba going to do about the manager exposing him and his mates? Sack him and risk the PL money? A large reason Rafa is loved so much, other than being a terrific manager and all round nice guy, is his drawing of attention to the theft and awful management going on at the club. Will be a sad day for the city when he leaves at the end of the season.
