We drew 1-1 at St Albans. Wasn't there, but sounds like a couple of players had 'mares reading the reports. Koroma scored again, that's about 6 now this pre-season from him, so he may be pushing for a start against Salford up top with Bonne.

We play Southend this weekend at home, so we may see close to what our starting line up will be against Salford. Hopefully new signing Gorman gets a run out as he recovers from injury as our midfield is definitely the weak link again this season.

Warrington Town 1-4 Stockport County (Warburton, Dimaio, Mulhern, Bell)

Pretty solid performance from us against a good Warrington Town side (which included Richard Brodie!). All 5 goals on the night were superbly taken and provided an entertaining spectacle.

First game I have got to this pre-season. Like what I saw in the most part. Ash Palmer looks solid. Dimaio looks like that extra bit of quality in the centre of the park we've missed.

Up front Mulhern is a hard worker. Makes things difficult for the defenders. Should perhaps have had another goal to his name.

Nyal Bell is an interesting one. Physically he's a defenders worst nightmare. Tall, strong and very quick. He certainly has something about him and took his goal last night superbly. Just seems a little raw at the moment.
Did you go to that little chippy by the Bridge?

What a difference a few days makes. We were much improved last night (although we couldn’t have been any worse). Our shape was much better, we were organised, solid, played exciting football, plenty of movement, battled well and picked up the second balls.. it was the polar opposite of the Telford game. We dominated the majority of the game, although Macclesfield finished stronger in the last 20 as they threw on more and more fresh players. Luke Summerfield was the star man last night for me, he ran the show. I thought he was decent at Telford and a lot of our attacks did start with him, but he was even better this time. Fondop is excellent up top, he bullied Macclesfield for a lot of the game and this time he had more support from Holroyd and Rutherford, so he wasn’t as isolated. The defence looked much better as well, with Manny back to his usual self and he took his goal really well. A mention for young Tharme as well who did good up against lanky Blissett and the others. Macc were pretty good up front too with plenty of movement and quick play, so we did well up against that. We just need to add a few more quality bodies now and we’ll be starting to look like challengers once Pearson, Deverdics and Pyke return.

1-1 away at St Albans last night, Josh Koroma scoring again for us.

Played well for first 30mins I thought, should've been at least 2-0 up before they pulled it back to 1-1 with a penalty.

Both teams had chances to take the lead again.

Southend United up at home on Saturday for our final friendly.

For all the Wrexham fans in attendance last night, what did you think to the young lad we brought on in the 2nd half last night? Shaved head, wore number 23, called Danny Whitaker. He's defo one to keep an eye out for, got a big future I reckon.

Drew 1-1 tonight against a full strength Wigan side for Tommy Lee's testimonial! Good to see fan favourites like Sam Morsy, Gary Roberts and Paul Cook back at the proact to celebrate the career of a club legend in Tommy.

Very impressed with Zavon Hines tonight, looks a new man under MA during pre season, hope he continues like this when it all kicks off on the 4th August. We're also looking a far more organised outfit now under Allen which was to be expected, but it's good to see after 3 shambolic years on a tactical front!

Two more friendlies to go... bring on the fleet

Went to my first and only PSF last night, never usually bother but it was a Testimonial so made the effort

Thought we looked alright to be honest, against a full strength Wigan side we more than matched them. Evans at CH looks a good signing, as does Weston and Carter in the midfield. Nelson at CH can't run or kick but he was solid and a proper unit which i'm told this is what we will need at this level

Binom Williams looked a different player to last season, as did Zavon Hines which is good to see, they were porbably our best 2 players.

Can't read a lot into pre season but I wasn't disappointed. Still think we will need a striker and a winger at least. We've lost the striker we wanted to a FL club due to the takeover stuff putting everything on old, which sounds ominous as it will annoy Martin Allen I suspect.

I still don't think we were that interested in Mcalinden tbh. MA seems to love Gozie Ugwu after his comments last night!

Shaw and Ugwu upfront together with Carter and Hines drifting inside looks like it could cause problems for opposition teams this season

Jordan Archer started for Bury last Saturday in our PSF and was anonymous. Taken off h/t and his replacement Gold somethingorother scored the winner. Archer did look as though he'd bulked out a little though.

He's talking about Liam Mcalinden not Jordan Archer mate, we had him on trial but due to the takeover going on we're not in a position to be handing contracts out ATM!

Alfreton 5-2 Burton Albion XI

Out played and out fought a very strong Burton XI on Wednesday. Cannot fail to be hugely impressed.

Denton and Peniket caused havoc up front. Johnson set piece deliver was excellent. James Clifton has consisently impressed at right back. Shiels and Riley who has looked quality have impressed. Riley picked up a knock but stand in centre back Jack Lane did well.

Eager for the season to begin. Excited to see where the journey takes us. Think we are shaping up extremely well. Definitely gonna be up there at the right end of the table this year.

Those Leeds boys are bloody quick and well drilled. A far cry from the Bolton team we faced.

Any Spiretes coming down to the Impact Arena for the friendly tomorrow. Should be a decent game in prospect. Both teams shaping up well for the season ahead after a few seasons of real strife for both.

Maidenhead 1-1 Wycombe

Good performance against an L1 team. Max Worsfold looks like a quality signing and caused a lot of trouble down the left, cutting the ball across goal for Ryan Bird to score.

Wycombe's defence dealt with our long balls easily, but we defended well too. Eventually the pressure told and they equalised, but we still continued to look solid as subs came on. I can see Worsfold and Ravi Shamsi causing a lot of trouble down the wings this season.

Currently getting our shit pushed in by a strong Middlesbrough team, 5-0 at the minute, luckily enough for us we won't be up against a £20m strike force every week, except when we play Salford.

We turned Bury over 3-1 today, and we weren't even at full strength.

Might as well hand us the National League North title now, we'll piss this tinpot league, etc.

We won 3-2 at a little non league team called Total Network Solutions Wrexham or something. Think they play in the league of Wales?

Closer then it should have been but it was their cup final, not often a bunch of brickies, window cleaners and dustmen get to play against top pros from one of the great 92. Something to tell their grandkids about.

Stayed 5 nowt in the end. Not a great way to finish pre season, I hate the borer but without their support last season we might not exist so fair dos.

We beat a Chesterfield XI of youth players and fringe players and a handful of first teamers 2-0. We never really looked in much danger and I dont really understand why Allen didnt player a stronger side.

Well I cant bloody wait for Saturday. Billy Heath has down a cracking job so far. All things considered Pre season cant have gone any better and boy have we impressed against Burton and Chesterfield in recent matches. No reason to fear anybody in our league. Bring it on!

Played some decent stuff for the first 30 mins or so but Boro just stepped up and took us to pieces, nothing to be concerned about just not great to watch when you're getting a shafting, I was the same as you, fucking hated Boro until they came through for the Wrexham match and showed their support, wish them nothing but success these days.

A hard earned 2-2 draw with Southend, goals from Bonne and good finish from Alabi for ourselves.

Pre season finally over!!
