A Barnsley XI consisting of youth players and youngsters who've broken into the first team beaten 1-0 at Barton Town Old Boys (great name).

What a strange friendly.
Hardly, it's normal for the bigger sides to play away isn't it? :D

Any Bradford fans go to the game, and be able to give us a fair assessment of our performance?

Town 1-4 West Brom.

Two goals in the last 5 minutes for the Baggies after a shit load of subs.

Still need a keeper, centre half and a striker for me.

Fabien Robert held talks over a permanent deal with the Chairman today so looking like he'll be our newest addition, hopefully.

Why are Port Vale creaming themselves over a 2-2 draw vs a 10 man Getafe who are probably the equvilant to a Hull City over here. I also wouldnt get carried away with ajays form, he always looks good in pre season when there isnt much preassure on.

Was a good performance against a technically good side. It more importantly breeds confidence so does no harm and if Ajay is the confidence player we've been told about then his goals will only help that ahead of August 8th. If he's lining up at Gresty Road full of confidence that can only benefit us.

Who told you about Ajay the "confidence" player? Did they mean "Conference"?

(To be fair, I jest. He's bog standard League Two.)

Once again noting that we beat newly promoted Hull a few years back 4-0, Calvin Zola scored a hat trick. We went on to be relegated from L1 that season whilst they stayed in the PL. Zola also only scored 4 goals in the entire season. Pre season results and performances mean nothing.

As for Ajay, he scored 6 last season in friendlies for Yeovil. He followed that up with 2 goals in 21 starts in the league. Confidence didn't seem to matter last season. I see no reason to see why this time will be any different.

We aren't getting carried away, I'd say we've slightly improved all be it not a great deal but the bigger changes are off the field. We won't be having Glover and Grew barking orders but actual coaches. I think we will be safe for sure but certainly won't bother the top end.

As for AJ he spent most of his time at Yeovil as a left winger!

Drew 2-2 with Newcastle in Chris Morgans testimonial. He got sent off almost straight away though...

Hmm. I'd suggest there is a reason for that.

What I'm saying is, you are on about the result and performance breeding confidence in the team, when it is irrelevant for the reasons I've already mentioned. I bet we were confident heading into the 11/12 season after winning 7 and drawing 2 of our 9 pre-season games, including wins against Derby and Wolves. Lost our opening 5 games of that season.

It's a blank slate when the season starts. Doesn't matter if you've beaten Hull or drew with Getafe. It doesn't matter if a striker has scored a shed load in pre-season. All meaningless. Far too many examples that prove it as a total fact.

Yes and no, granted it can be a false dawn but also it can breed confidence going into the season such as Tom Pope with a similar poor scoring record to AJLS for instance at the time. He scored a few in pre season and took it into the season.

We rarely lose pre-season games anyway, 1 a season at most so I know it means little but to see the football we were playing under Bodin's guidance is encouraging. Nothing more nothing less. As i've mentioned before we beat a Man United XI with Rossi, Campbell, Shawcross playing, then hammered a strong Sheffield Wednesday side 3-0 the pre-season before our last relegation.

We're playing Bolton but look like we've lost another key player early on with O'Connor being helped off the field.

1-0 down at HT but played really well apparently, sounds like Kelly is playing superb.

Main worry is the extent of Oakys injury. Could start the season without two crucial players.

We lost 2-0 at home to the WBA first team. Sounds like we played quite well, hit the woodwork in the second half and Bradshaw had a penalty tipped onto the post before slotting the rebound........WIDE. Another nice little payday with a big following from the Albion.

5,209 and 6,600 in the last few days at £12 a ticket for an adult. I bet there was no more than 1,000 home fans at either game. Suppose that's the handy side of having premier league sides practically on your doorstep.

Lost 2-1 hit the woodwork three times including missing a last gasp penalty. Sounds like we did well in terms of performance though.

Yeah, I am not sure whether it was us playing really well or Albion just being shite, but they were truly shite for 70 minutes. Full first team as well, which is very surprising, only should of been 1 winner, and that was us. Kinsella was exposed twice though on the counter, shame.

Very inspiring performance though.

That pre-season trophy is looking like ours so long as we avoid defeat in our final 2 games. Anyone else boasting a 100% record in pre-season? #promotionbrigade #goingup

Have you even played anybody half-decent yet? Blackburn's reserves don't count.

Good to hear, glad we tried another new formation too. 3-5-2 could work well with Kinsella/Henry.

People will probably think I'm deluded, but I can honestly say I think I'm more excited about Rico Henry than I am Tom Bradshaw next season. Don't get me wrong, I love super T, but I can see big things from Henry. I wouldn't be surprised to see him have an amazin debut season and then go on to be sold next summer for £1m+ to a Premier league side - Villa or Albion probably being a good fit. Didn't Villa send a scout to him? Literally just turned 18 a fortnight ago and everytime I've seen him, he's looked a class above anyone in our side.
