Caught a snippet of the Notts Co game whilst watching the cricket. Bumble reeling off the teams too.

Gabby Rogers scored a worldie against us for Tiverton in midweek. He repeated the trick today but this time for us against Chippenham.

Think he was at Yeovil previously?

Apparently Ira Jackson Jr scored two on trial for Aldershot today. Definitely gonna sign for them and bang loads in.

He was with Torquay before us! A lot of our fans having a meltdown about this, never really got a chance but ultimately his end product was never there. Great at a step over though!

We drew 1-1 with Weston super mare, sounds like our worst performance of pre season so far, add to that Ruben Reid did his hamstring. Tom knowles with the goal again, the only player to score for us in 4 games.

We drew 2-2 at Spennymoor.

However much we spend, people have always got a chance againsr us when Christian Dibble is in goal.

Only as a Yoof though, he's from Torquay but he's one of the players we lost out on by closing our academy.

Looked good, we dominated possession and really should’ve won, but missed a few chances and our ‘keeper made some horrible errors, but you looked strong and organised, and a threat on the break. Looked a mid-table National League side tbh.

Notts lads, apparently we had A̶l̶e̶x̶ Christian Oxlade- Chamberlain up front today. Looks like you had him on your books a couple of years ago.
Any good?

We best Guiseley 5-0 with goals from Madden (2), Rooney, Barclay and an O.G

Not conceded a goal yet all pre-season.

History says this bodes very, very badly for our season. Shit pre seasons= good season is usually our tried and tested formula.

You looked effective, well drilled and ready for the season. I'll be very surprised if you don't go up one way or the other this year.
Beck is an astute signing and I liked your centre midfielder with the corn dreads whose name I don't know.

He was a RB or centre half for us and L2 was at least one division too high for him. Had some absolute stinkers for us , always had an error in him.

Sonny Blu lo-Everton on trial for us today. Had a spell at Wealdstone last season. I’d be happy to sign him based on his name alone.

Sonny is small and slight but has great feet and acquitted himself well for us. Was hoping we'd get him back again this season.

Appparently it was him. There may be some confusion with Jackson from Grimsby, who was definitely playing. If they are both useless, we need to re-sign Harry Panaytiou to complete a typical forward line.

Unless he’s totally changed position, AOC was a right back for us with a couple of appearances in midfield. We signed him on the back of one good performance against us in the FA Cup for Oxford City and he never did anything to suggest he’s professional standard, but tbf he didn’t play that much either.

I’ve been impressed by Taylor, seems to be splitting opinion already. Roberts was unplayable at times today but yeah, playing him as a genuine central midfielder is a bit wild.

I can’t see Burchnall changing now, mind. Our games are going to largely be extremely open and entertaining, but to get away with it we need to be a lot more clinical than we have been the last couple of friendlies, and for Slocombe to stop making basic errors.

What formation did we play today then, and who played where?

Hope to not play you next pre season unless you get back in league then.
Good luck a club your size deserves league football.

3-5-2. Roberts as a genuine central midfielder - caused good chaos when we had the ball, bad chaos when we didn’t. He’s still our best player by miles fwiw, they couldn’t get near him when he was running at them.

Ira Jackson isn’t useless just very raw, and I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see him do well in this league.

Another win and another clean sheet but I’m worried that we’re sticking with the 3412, Rooney at 10, no upgrades in midfield and still not much pace in the team except MSH.

Can very easily see a repeat of last season if we’re not careful.

Signings have been angled towards the 3/5 at the back staying. He clearly thinks Barclay has the quality on the ball be the LCB- a bit like Maguire for England. Fish will be here to play when he's available no doubt and going off what I saw the other day that will be no bad thing. It probably does suit MSH and Kitching when fit to be fair. Whitfield may be wondering where he fits in unless he can get in as the number 10.

I think we may get the upgrade in midfield. We must have something in mind letting Maynard go. I could see a young player from a side higher up the pyramid, probably on a loan. We need someone who is really comfortable on the ball, they are ten a penny at Youth level these days. The loan market will start getting going as clubs start knowing what they have and haven't got which will be the next couple of weeks.

From his performances here I don't think Whitfield would work as a number 10. He's not one for finding pockets of space or threading passes, he needs space to run into to be effective.

Wing back option? Or is the defensive side of his game not up to scratch.

Not for me, he's got the work rate and is decent at tracking back to protect his full back but don't think he has the discipline for a more full time defensive role.
