Final preseason game this afternoon and we were absolutely abysmal. Lost comfortably 2-0 to Dundee Utd. A stroll in the park for them.

Thankfully this awakening has happened before the season has started so something can be done about it.

Lost 2-1 in the last minute against Cov. Ref missed a foul in the build up. Never mind, played well in parts and Kyle Taylor played for the first time in 18 months.

Oxford 5.0 QPR

Absolutely destroyed them in the 2nd half whilst comfortable in the 1st. Could have been a lot more. Liked how we are looking to play.

That said the caveat is it is only a pre-season game.

4,500 odd there with around 1,800 from QPR. Most had left by the time the 4 went in.

Hopefully the QPR player who was stretchered off isn't too bad.

By all accounts a very poor performance in our 3-0 defeat to Rotherham.

Better to get your shite performances out of the way in pre-season though surely - if ever there’s a good time to spot weaknesses it’s now.

By the sounds of things though, QPR fans are distinctly unhappy at being shat upon 5-0 by Oxford, friendly or not…

Apparently we were quite poor in our 1-1 draw away at Newport.

I'll collate today's results and post the final table on Monday morning.

Lost 2-1 to Scunthorpe and played badly. Hopefully he now knows who he is picking and who not. Rotated the team again today and it backfired.

I would pay absolutely no mind to friendlies and I can never understand why people even bother with them. Literally a glorified training session, where zero actual effort is put in. Some of our best pre seasons have coincided with our worst seasons.

Lost 2-1 At Colchester, had Theo Archibald sent off by a very inconsistent referee for two yellow cards in quick succession for kicking the ball away and mouthing off to the ref. Don't quite get how kicking the ball away in a friendly when you're losing warrants a yellow but there you go.

We was poor for most of the game, but because of Colchesters dry pitch we've now picked up injuries to Agyei, Sotiriou and Drinan. Regardless of the result, thats the worst thing to come out of today because we're gonna be light up top for next week most likely.

Once the sending off happened, we made a load of changes and nearly drew the game after scoring a penalty through youngster Charlie Pegrum we had some chances to draw and Colchester also missed a late penalty.

I'd rather have lost 5-0 and not picked up any injuries.

Wellens post game interview was a good one, slagged off the ref, Howard Webb, Colchesters pitch and most of our team.

Away to Bishops Stortford on Tuesday and now because of the injuries we will have to rethink who plays for us in that.

Oxford 5 QPR 0

Love what Manning is doing with Oxford. It's like watching that MK Dons team from two years ago that made the play offs and pretty much had 80% possession every game, but with much better players.
Didn't expect to rip a QPR first team a new arsehole though, ......and yes I know it's a friendly but it was embarrassingly good.

Some PSFs are better than others. I thought our game today was quite useful, both sides were going for it and formations are taking place.
I wouldn't go hundreds of miles to watch one though

It's useful as a training exercise but I haven't been to a friendly in years. I think we pumelled Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 in a friendly a few years ago, looked like world beaters and promptly got relegated. I think we also beat a Man United team in that pre season. All our fans having a meltdown and conversely other teams who have won comfortably thinking they are going to storm the league. It's literally got zero reflection on what happens when teams actually try.

We just beat Chesterfield 2-0, John Marquis with a brace
How did we look? Random game, any idea why we’ve gone all the way down there for a PSF?

We were 3-0 up v Man United in 15 minutes! Shane Tudor looked like Ryan Giggs… as we found out he was awful!

Had we played that game today in the Pizza Cup no one would care, yet it’s all doom and gloom with this striker obsession. We will get them in but unlike last season we at least have Ellis for Saturday and will be playing a system likely using him alone with Chislett in the number 10. (Assume we will decide on Wilson by then also!)

Well according to George because we lost 4-1 to Torquay we are going down

I enjoyed ours and for £6 it was a good afternoon, even if it means nothing really.

You looked decent to be fair. Stifled us in midfield and as you pressed high you caught us in possession in dangerous areas. You knocked it around well just didn't have that cutting edge and that was the difference between us.
You certainly caused us a lot more problems than Swansea did in our last friendly, should do well. Good luck for the new season!

My only assumption is that you might be taking some loan players? We had a friendly against Brentford B and signed 2 of their players a week later. Otherwise no idea, thought it was also a bit random

Could also be that one of our staff is friendly with Paul Cook who hails from Merseyside. Kieron Dyer will know Barton too from QPR (and very briefly at Newcastle). Another of their coaches Gary Roberts was also with Mangan at Accy

We lost 3-1 to Sheff Utd - ironically the best part of our game was right before they scored two goals in two minutes. I guess that’s football. They have some quality players - Berge and Ndiaye are as good as I’ve seen for a long time. They’ve got a lot of championship level players in their team, even some less than that, but they grafted hard.

It would be mind boggling to see Osula get a premier league appearance this season, never seen a player do an impression of Labrador as proficiently as them.

We played well enough for some optimism, hopefully we can add some depth to the team but as for the team next week I think that’s pretty much set.

God what happened to Cook? He was possibly the most wanted manager of the EFL what 2/3 years ago? I was dreading City might get him

Lost 2-0 at Barnet.

That's a relief.

Another bonus is to finish pre-season (matches) with no injuries and all longer term injuries from last season back in full training.

Lost 1-0 at home to Bristol City.

Didn't go but general consensus was that so far there doesn't seem to be much change in our lack of ability to really create much in the final third and score goals. I'm anticipating that unlike most recent seasons, we'll be slow starters this year.

By all accounts a very poor performance in our 3-0 defeat to Rotherham.

We hit the bar in the first minute but it was a fairly even first half until Rathbone's goal.

Second half we got better and scored two more and missed a penalty bit then looked pretty toothless when the front two were substituted.

It will be interesting to see how Tyler Walker improves things as he starts to get full fitness levels.

Overall a good day out, a win in long overdue pre-season sunshine and Hall's injury is not as bad as first thought.

Good luck for next season.

Lost 3-2 at home to Aberdeen.

Abysmal first half, much better second half.

Think we’re going to cause defences a lot of problems, unfortunately our defence are going to cause themselves their own problems.

Yeah he was well sought after until he went to Ipswich and that seems to have finished him

It's really hard to tell how well we'll do based on that performance as City were clearly a level above us and so they had the better chances and we didn't really create too much despite some promising moves in the second half. Regan Poole was the stand out player for us, but I still worry about where our goals are going to come from.

You'd like to think we wouldn't be slow starters given our early recruitment and we can't afford to be given the generous fixtures we've been given in August. Any serious promotion candidate cannot be taking less than 13 points from those first five games.

I find it slightly troubling that our pre season program wasn't as well planned as it could have been. I don't think the players have got the minutes under their belts that you would have liked by this point. The loss of the entire fitness and physio set up without as yet any permanent experienced replacements is a also a worry.

I don't think this team will really find its rhythm until 4-6 weeks into the season. Lets hope we still manage to build up a points tally before that given the easier set of fixtures in that time, at least on paper.
