Browne was very good for Macc in the NL a couple of seasons ago.

We lost 4-1 to Leicester, pretty even game tbh and we showed some good stuff, but they were incredibly clinical as you would expect. We made a couple of mistakes that would likely lead to nowt in League Two, but against them it was an instant goal.

We’ve had a bit of a weird pre-season tbh, feel like we’ve not played enough games and the four that we have played have either been against part time teams that we’ve battered or teams much better than us, not sure how much we can have learned really. Last one at Luton next week may give a better indication of where we’re at.
We've had a weird one, too.

Usually we build up to the tougher fixtures but went Norwich, Sheffield Wednesday and then Blackburn tomorrow and going to end up playing 5 PSF's.

We've just HAMMERED the Gas 1-0, Doidge pen. Apparently we were all over them for the first half at least. Think the nil to them is more important than the one to us, even if they weren't their strongest. Mid-table is almost touching distance!
That is a pretty fair summary, the second half they pressed a bit and it made it a bit more difficult for us, but they didn't create too much and couldn't have complained if we had doubled our lead. I think we have developed Englanditis, a team who can score from the spot or dead ball situations but struggles to find the net from open play...solve that conundrum and my dream of mid-table mediocrity might just happen.

Reece Brown was excellent, never thought I would be saying that, pretty much controlled play in the first half and even made a few tackles. Bad tackle on Winchester near the end, thought it was going to kick-off, referee just managed to diffuse the situation...but only just.

Lost 1-0 to Blackpool, goal was miles offside apparently but sounds like we played well enough, had a shot blocked on the like by a Blackpool player... who’s currently on loan to us! Quigley blocking his own team mates effort.

Waiting now on FA to decide on Miller so hoping we can get him in next week. Decision Wednesday I think.

Interesting Sam Foley was at the game too. Would welcome him back with open arms but not sure why he was there in all honesty.
The trialist midfielder we had playing looked good wouldnt mind us signing him. Think he was conlon ex stevenage but lives newcastle under lyme.

After the 3-1 win over derby we entertained more neighbours in Sheffield Utd toda

Finished 0-0 but was a fiesty competitive game between what appeared to be the starting xi of both sides.

What is encouraging is both how fast we move the hall and press, it’s hard to see how we will play the long ball, though Davies did well in holding the ball up when it was required. He will work well with rose and Blake - it’s encouraging to see us have decent forward options this season when we literally just had rose.

Wilder, like lamps red was full of praise for us, which is promising and encouraging.

4 conceded against derby and Leicester? You got some injuries at the back/playing some trailists?

As Jacob says, lost 4-1 but played well to a degree. Vaughn a class apart for us . If we can save his legs and he doesn't suddenly just run out of gas in February / March we have a centre midfielder playing way above Div 2, he just didn't waste a pass.
Boudwijn has a poor first touch but is a very direct powerful player.
Kellet looked lightweight, Thomas anonymous but half an hour of a PSF is way too early to write players off. Damari Gray looked electric for Leicester.
Been a tough pre season with Luton away next week so they should be primed if not gelled for the big KO.
I'm confident of top seven, money spent they really ought to be top three but we didn't look overly good up front and there seems to be a lot hanging on an injury prone 35 year old centre midfielder.

We're about 4 or 5 players away from a team capable of challenging. Fingers crossed the next two weeks bare some delicious fruit.

2 players who had a lot of potential here but were never given a proper chance, I know Browne left to be closer to family following his Dads death but whilst he was here he was never given a proper chance despite obvious signs of talent, and Jaiyesimi looked great one minute but then drifted out of games the next and couldn't nail down a starting place. Both of them on their day (which sounds like today is one of them) have the potential to be terrific.

Rhys' dad played a lot of games for us in the 90s and it's fantastic to see Rhys doing so well

I would happily drive Sam Foley back to Huish Park and then drive him to every away game.

I hope not. 2 or 3 maximum I reckon. Need a striker with Richards out and not so young.
2 centre halves (with Robertson moved on) rb/lb back up, winger, striker would be my wishlist. We've still got 3 loans to use up as well haven't we?

I'm worried we'll end up in a situation where the first team will look good but a couple of injuries and we're down to the bare bones.

We lost 0-2 to Fleetwood Mac at home. We're going to tear a new hole in this sorry tinpot division, probably at the bottom...

Our fans are getting overly excited about a youth player who is 17 and basically has good technical skills, with calls for him to start.

Preseason eh

Yeah but what will he be like on a Tuesday night at Morecambe etc.....

League 2 is a very physical league, good technical little players tend to get bulldozered as we found out quite often last season.

My point exactly. I think as a sub it's ok may be a cup game, but you need to be eased in...

Going for my first look at our revamped squad.
We currently have 17 on the books of which 3 are injured Habergham, Bostwick and O'Connor (what a shocker!)
Of the remaining 14 one is a 17 year old who's never played in the league but has done well in the friendlies so far.
Expecting a couple of the trialists to sign, the other trialists are lads we looking to take on loan for the season.
The management have said they want a squad of around 22 bit small IMHO but I'll trust them.

After back to back 4-1 defeats against the East Mids Elite, I’m now pretty confident of promotion for this upcoming season.

Delighted to be playing such talented opposition in front of big pre season crowds

We beat Bristol Rovers and only lost by 1 to Leeds, that means we are in almost unstoppable form.

The best possible preperation ahead of the big kick off........in El Nailsico.

Shortwood wont know what's hit em. As long as we beat them no FGR fan will care if we lose EVERY league 2 game next season. Just 5 days to go. It's gonna be massive

We’re doing the very clever ploy of losing every pre season game just to trick the rest of League 2 into thinking we’re shit, then when each team turns up half arsed expecting an easy 3 points we’ll smash the fuckers to oblivion. Easy.

Phil Brown has also stated he wants a squad of 22. I personally think it’s about 3 short but that’s what he is paid for so I’m happy to trust him!

^ I saw that Yeovil result when scrolling through the live scores on Flashscore. So far I've only settled on the U's to make the top 3 this coming season, but now I reckon there's every chance Yeovil will be one of the other two sides to join us. This PSF business - more specifically, who's going up/down - is easy enough to grasp once you learn what to look out for.

Meanwhile, TOP Championship side Millwall could only get a couple of late goals after Joe Dunne wisely decided that it was a tad embarrassing for Millwall to not win this game so he took everybody off around the one hour mark and gave our youth team some much needed game time. Fair play Joe

BTW we also had a game last night, a rather easy 3-0 win over highly rated Conference side Braintree.

In Dunne we trust. Onwards to L1 :bravo:
If Yeovil finish anywhere near the top 3 I’ll give you a grand
