Fantastic occasion, all things considered. It was Stephen Darby’s day - but also a great opportunity to raise funds and awareness for MND. Just under 24,500 was there in attendance to support such a great cause.
As for the game, it really wasnirrelevant - but it was the tippy, tappy, non-penetrative football that you would expect from Liverpool - and any other top flight team - for Christ’s sake, don’t lose the ball. Boring.
Anyhow, their starting line-up consisted of;
Mignolet, Clyne, Lovern, Milner, The OX, Lalana, Brewster, Kent, Philips, Wilson and Larouci - strong as you’d expect. The subs didn’t make the task any easier, either; the luxury of having Origi, Gomez, Matip and Woddburn at your disposal - sound.
3-1 the finishing score line. We had 2 goals disallowed, so in my view it actually finished 3-3 - I don’t care what anyone says.
