Going by their squad numbers (which despite having no names were their actual squad numbers - I checked) it was pretty much their first team that started the game. I thought they looked sharp to start with, had us penned back for first 15 minutes.

Think our lack of depth told in the end. They were bringing on first teamers replacing first teamers, where as we were bringing on a bunch of 17 year olds to try and see out the game.

We need 5 first team quality signings at the very least to give ourselves a chance this season.

I think saying we were trying to 'see out the game' isn't really accurate, as getting a result isn't really the point of friendlies (unless you're a Hibs fan it seems). I reckon that Pressley had decided that apart from the keeper, no player would play more than 60 minutes. We ran out of players that we wanted to assess so we put the young players on probably mainly to give them some experience, and to be fair they seemed to enjoy that, as did the fans around me. Buzzed around like a swarm of bees for ten minutes or so, two of them even linking to force the own goal before Hibs more experienced players sussed out where the weaknesses were.

I doubt if we'll get five first team signings right away, maybe three, and it sounds like we'll have a loanee in next week. After yesterday I feel fairly happy that we have the players we need at the back. Elliot really impressed in the second half, the old guy next to me was loving him getting stuck in 'get some blood on yer studs!'. None of the senior players that featured at the back yesterday gave me too much initial cause for concern. Iredale made a couple of errors but was good going forward and then when Mellish went to left back, he looked quite good there. Thought Duffus looked a lot more steady than you'd expect of a 22 year old; apparently he can cover right back too so maybe we'll see him get a chance there and if he does well I think he's worth a contract.

Just never got to see anything from either of the centre forwards we went with, and we could be further weakened if we lose Hope. I think we're going to need to set ourselves up in the next friendly to create chances for a centre forward as there weren't many of those last night.

Highlights are up... the state of the Hibs fans :fl:

Funny how we see things differently because I thought Duffus looked awful, but someone near me was saying it’s not his natural position and he’s played his career so far as an attacking midfielder

By see out the game I didn’t mean it how you took it as in literally trying to see out the result. I just meant we finished the game with bringing on 5 boys where as they brought on more first team players. Thats the reason we lost. The young lad who finished the game at left back had a terrible time, got roasted and roasted. He probably had nightmares last night about it.

Interesting that you've got Tyrone Duffus, one of our old boys.

He is better further up the pitch but will put a shift in, rarely heard or seen anything negative about him. I think his brother is now at Oldham?

Annoying that Exeter are above us when they’ve played teams that are pants whilst we’ve come up against top notch opposition like Cleethorpes Town and Grantham Town.
Not happy about this. :dis:

Yeah, that was Charlie Birch. The other un-named ones were Taylor Charters and Jamie Armstrong, the latter of whom linked up with Keighran Kerr for the own goal. Think Armstrong was our number 16 who replaced IBR and looked an improvement on him. IBR will get another couple of chances to show what he can do but based on yesterday looked like one of those players who flatters to deceive.

The highlights show Duffus getting caught flat-footed with that ball over the top and I think Gray was as culpable, but they don't show the more run of the mill interceptions and clearances so I only have my memory and my chat with the fella next to me to go off but I remember him looking fairly composed for the most part, did the simple stuff well as managers like to say. He fits perfectly into the 'slot' the Pressley feels will complement his defence. He wants a right-footed centre back who can play full-back (I think he can play full-back at least).

My man of the half in the first half was Harry McKirdy. At 1:09 in the highlights, Webster plays a long diagonal to him and he takes it down excellently; needed to pick out a striker then rather than try the shot himself, but either way he seems like an exciting player. Webster would be a close second.

Man of the second half, I think most United fans would agree, was Christie Elliot. Looks like the complete full-back. Got stuck in as well, like one of those players you have to tackle twice before you get the ball off him.

I'm thinking of changing it to points per game, what with some clubs playing more PSF's than others - I won't add it until near the end though.

Plus drawing with a near full strength Premier League side managed by one of the top managers in English football deserves some bonus points imo.

Their last competitive match was a 2-0 win at Old Trafford in a Premier League game. That makes us better then Man U.

If we draw or lose at Supermarine on Saturday that automatically makes them better then United too. Fact.

At least the Hibs fans have a sense of humour about the utter scenes that followed yesterday's comeback win.

Folk will remember where they were this night years from now. Carlisle have been the dominant club in Carlisle for over a century with many many famous players without peer in the Carlisle region. But they couldn't match the mighty Hibees … that our team could walk out into that white hot atmosphere and score 4 speaks volumes.

The great Mansfield Town have lost their first pre-season friendly. Oh dear. Interesting that the likes of Adam Stag, Conker, Jumping John, StagsBOI69, and Stoney haven't mentioned it.
There are mitigating circumstances though that you’ve failed to mention, Carolyn is over there with them and the players have obviously been put off by her levels of attractiveness.

We beat Everton Under 23s 1-0 with a last minute goal from Ellis Iandolo. Game was played in La Manga, where we are having a team building session.

Our starting line-up is probably what it will be come the kick off at Scunny barring new strikers. (Which we should have time to bring in).

The squad are back to England tomorrow.

Did any of Everton's youngsters on the fringes of their first team play? Or was it very much the U23 squad?

We've got Boston away tonight.

Just had a quick look at Twitter, very much their youngsters (in that I didn't recognise any of their names). Their Under 23s have won the premier league title 2 out of 3 seasons so they seem to have some handy youngsters.

Not that I am going to get carried away or owt.

3 wins out of 3 for Swindon now, you can definitely get carried away in my opinion. If we beat Boston tonight, we are on for the playoffs!

I'm not going to include Oldham's game as it was 3 30 minute periods and (according to their official site) a training game.

As I discounted Vale's result yesterday I must be seen to be consistent.

The imaginative souls at Vale have steered away from a possible friendly against Leeds to confirmation our last pre season game will be Bury at home .

Fuck me drunk what a truly appalling game against a club on it's arse.

No idea what will be achieved by that game apart from a crowd of 700.

On top of Fleetwood at home it must be the worst set of home friendlies in our history
