Its not amazing but much more tidier than the tent that was there before. We have wanted a new stadium for years but costs would be too much, so are looking at upgrading each side of the ground bit by bit. East side is next which is the side where the crap away terracing is.

I think your ground is decent to be fair. It's got a bit of character about it. I have been in the terracing a few times and enjoyed it apart from not being able to get a beer at half time

Thats a fair point, but surely fan experience comes higher than how many seats you can fit there. The stadium isn't exactly eye catching at the best of times, so this adds to the misery of the memorial ground.

We're going back to Torquay which is a surprise as last time we lost 4 nil, had a man sent off and got kicked to sh*t.
And they celebrated like they won the World Cup before losing to Aveley the next week.

Watford announced as our only home PSF.

Very meh fixture, but then I never go to friendlies anyway so my opinion is pretty irrelevant.

If nothing else, it’s good to check out how your squad fares against a better quality of player than your own.

Who knows, in the incredibly unlikely event we managed to thrash them, that might be enough to trigger yet another managerial sacking, so there’s the comedy value.

Otherwise am expecting any other PSF slots to be filled w/ local non-league sides - especially those from whom we’ve nicked players for a song.

We're in Spain to play Derby. That Pinatar place everyone goes. We played Lincoln there last season.

Nothing else announced, imagine a few local aways, we often play Altrincham but I've heard Oldham mentioned this summer.
Just up the road from me think,i might be washing my hair that day:bg:

I'm the same, don't see the point in going to friendlies. May as well just go and watch them training

I tend to go if they are at grounds I haven't been to before. Always like the idea but get bored in the second half.
And even that is unlikely as we end up playing the same sides every season, I think we have played Weston 5 years running..

Our banker friendly is usually Melksham who we beat 9-0 last year. I dont know why we don't play Yeovil or Torquay anymore, or FGR now they have disappeared where they belong. Cant remember us ever playing WSM, usually City go there.
I believe we will be in Portugal again where we played Braga last year

Think half of Weston are Bristol City fans, which is probably why. Always see people up there in BC shirts when we play them

Yeah WSM is a total dive these days so that explains a lot!

The first pre-season game to be announced is home to he Blades on the 27th July, which is quite a common fixture TBH as both clubs and supporters get on so there's not too much chance of any trouble.

It will also give us a chance to look at any possible loans.
Hopefully, the fact that we hardly gave any game time to Femi Seriki last season won't affect any possible agreements.

TBF the lad was never ready for a relegation scrap in a poor team and Leam Richardson has left so I would imagine Wilder might help his old club out seeing as we offered him a job last season.

The club is promising an update on the rest of the pre-season games as soon as they are confirmed.

If Wild's still there they'll be trying to break our legs. Wouldn't have gone near a friendly with this band of thugs.

Won't have to worry about that then.

We are off to Wycombe and Stevenage.

We have our annual friendly visit to Dagenham and Rebridge confirmed for Saturday 3rd August.

Doesn't look like we will have a home one for the second year in a row.

We’re off to Portugal with games behind closed doors organised but not confirmed who against.

Once back in the UK we have Braintree, Ebbsfleet and WBA.

Jeez you dont have to come mate. No pillars on the terracing if your 'international fans' don't snap up all the tickets....

Slovenia for us, a Nathan Jones special apparently
Wonder if we will end up playing a behind closed door game there against you as im pretty sure we will be back there. We have been there every season since NJ started it, even last season.

Yep, far too big now to be lowering yourselves at a league one ground..

Not sure what you mean but the point was we are both going to be doing training camps in the same place in Slovenia most likely so would make sense if we do a game there, we’ve done it with other sides who have trained there so would make sense is all. We played “home” pre season games at Colchester last season whilst the stadium was being done so no issues with League 1 at all :)

We've announced four. Aldershot being the highest placed.
We do go to Lewes at the wonderfully named Dripping Pan ground (is there a thread for oddest named grounds?)

No 'exciting' teams which turn out to be kids announced yet.

It's just that no one seems to want to play us. Every single game is against non league sides this year. Can't see that being great preparation for the league start.

I presume it is the same for many, PL sides only really want to go abroad these days

Got you. It must be tough to get decent friendlies for you i guess given location - PL sides probably wont fancy the journey and not a money spinner sponsorship wise either. Some of the stuff they are all doing is nuts this year, end of season friendlies in Australia and their own Pre Season tournaments in America/the Far East.

We have been fortunate to get decent ones as they are often using Luton Airport to jet off somewhere.

Fans love coming down here in July/ August though. We had Coventry last year, their fans made a weekend of it.

We seem to be arranging behind closed doors friendlies with the likes of Bristol City and Oxford. I'm wondering whether clubs just can't be bothered with the hassle of arranging games with fans
