All this talk about budgets. Does anyone really know what clubs pay there players. At Bury our top earner will be Vaughan £6000 a week rumoured. Although he won't he won't be with us for much longer. Saudi bound. Suspect Beckford will be on similar. I think our 1st team squad will be on £750 minimum rising to maximum £6000. I suggest an average is £2500. Seems difficult to sustain on the gates we get. Players were not paid on a few occasions last season and also heard weren't paid on time for the last couple of months. Play offs minimum for Bury this season based on players brought in. Plus we should have all our long term injured players available. Mayor, Jones, Cameron, Ismail. Official transfer window open now, I suspect 3/4 to be sold.

Sorry, but where have you heard this? First time I've heard of it and that's strange as if it did happen that would be big news you've just pulled out of your arse.

Have you heard this from a reputable source or are you just stirring shite, like some fans love to do? Are you the lad that told everyone last season we were going into admin the next day to then unsurprisingly nothing happening?

I'm not a rose tinted supporter by any means, look through my posts for proof.. but claims like that with literally no substance (no media, never heard it off any other fan) are just malicious.

When players aren't getting paid word gets out very quickly and on a wide scale, see Morecambe and Leyton Orient. Funny how fans are aware of staff redundancies (something comparatively trivial) but aren't aware of players not getting paid.

Why is it a laugh?? It's a reasonable prediction as your always down there
Aye because that's how football works ain't it you thick twat. We've made considerable improvements to our squad, and 'we are always down there'.. but we weren't ever relegated were we?

You name 2 players we've signed are past it (calling Stephen Dawson past it is very dubious). Yet we've signed 9.. 2 out of 9 ain't bad is it.

You'll always be "there or there about"...
Apparently McCall is staying now, although the journalist that started the rumour he was going to resign is someone who is close to him, so why would the journo just make it up? Something is definitely going on, can't imagine it'll be helpful to players coming in although there is debate about how much McCall is involved with that.

If you ever lose your job, don't worry about it, it's a trivial matter :ffs:

Hence the use of the word comparatively. There were way to many staff at the club quite frankly it was a long time coming.

Admittedly we've quickly replaced Cook with a manager with a proven track-record, but he's working with a playing budget of £3.1M (which apparently puts us lower half of League One?)..

We apparently have a top 6 budget, after having a bottom 6 last season. I thought our budget was around 1.8M last season, so for you to apparently be mid table with a budget of 3.1M I would assume we must have at-least doubled ours to be top 6.

A lot of apparentlys in that.

That's even more signings than we have made!

Sounds like Clarke did a cracking job last season, Mario. There's so little info knocking around about League One budgets, but it would appear from the various comments that somewhere in the £3M to £3.5M range would put you top 6, so double isn't far off?

As far as predictions go, I'll wait a while I think. If Bury land Mbappe just before the season starts I may have to bump them up a bit.

Bury reject a 500k bid for James Vaughan and rightly so.

I like the signings Charlton are making. Fancy them to go fairly well next year

As last season, I think I might be the only Gills fan thinking we'll stay up again :lol: Our starting 11 isn't terrible on paper, we're just losing a couple of the more high-profile players.

Holy
O'Neil - Zakuani - Lacey - Garmston
Morris - Hessenthaler
Wagstaff - Wright - Martin
Parker
Nelson/Hadler, Ehmer, Byrne, Oldaker, Eaves, Knott, List, Mbo, Cundle making up the squad as it stands.

Yeah there's obvious gaps in the squad (namely up front now), and we could do with some more defensive depth but the team above is at least competitive at this level.

Still June chaps!

I know we won't do owt, especially with Warne as manager and Stewart being tight as fuck but saying that I doubt anybody could better our starting 11 at this point in time.

O'Donnell

Fisher Ajayi Belaid Mattock

Vaulks

Force Taylor Newell

Ball Clarke-Harris

Think we could play at 50% all season and reach play offs.

Taylor won't play centre midfield and Belaid will leave before the season start is my guess. Do agree we have a top 6 squad though but we have a shit manager imo so i reckon mid table for us.

My starting 11 so far would be this.

O'Donnell
Fisher, Ihiekwe or Ball, Ajayi, Mattock or Purrington
Forde, Vaulks or Frecklington, Potter, Newell
Ball

I have no idea how good this team is but know it stormed their division last year and was very unlucky to be relegated. There is, however just a sllght chance that you might be underestimating the dross that makes up this division

Our bodged up, far from finished squad would match that Rotherham starting XI.

Thank fuck we all know he's just a WUM.

A WUM? No don't believe you. We all know that the giants, Rotherscum and Donny will be top 2 and the rest of us minnows will be battling in the hope we can make the play offs

Very early days but based on signings so far Blackburn are a comfortable first. Fancy Charlton or MK Dons for second and Pompey, Bristol Rovers and some other wildcard like maybe Peterborough, Fleetwood or even Oldham (I rate Sheridan) to compete the playoffs. Bradford will be the big disappointment of the season. Rotherham have more chance of a relegation battle than a promotion battle with their signings so far and losing mentality of last season. Gillingham, Walsall, Blackpool and AFC Wimbledon to go down. God knows how we'll do but I'm not expecting top 6 with the squad we'll have in September.

How the hell did we get brought into this? We won't trouble the top half of the table let alone the top six, our defence hasn't been strengthened so no chance of us getting near the mighty millers

Brilliant. The under estimation of us is as bad as last time we were in this division.

Very solid keeper, name me a better one?

Better looking defence. Again don't think anyone could name better full backs from ours and Semi Ajayi will be best centre half in the league by far.

Our midfield contains Forde and Taylor. Two players that were excellent last time they were in this division. Especially Taylor. A fully fit Joe Newell could easily be the best player in the division as a fully fit Lee Frecklington could be.

Then up top we've got Ball who was a big performer in a very good Fleetwood side last year and Clarke-Harris who has been waiting for his opportunity to be the main man and 9 times out of 10 has been outstanding every time he's played for us.

We won't make any marquee signings and our manager is a wank fitness coach but our side is already good enough to piss all over the likes of Bradford.

I like Belaid. Far better than Wood.

Wasn't classing Taylor as a CM in that, I'd give those 3 a free role with Vaulks anchoring.

Imo sides relegated are usually in as much chaos off the pitch as they are on it. We are stable in both areas so I guess we shall have to wait and see.
