We are still due another striker and a midfielder. However I am willing to take a punt and say we will finish somewhere between 14 and 22. We are too organised and solid to finish bottom 2 and the rest depends on injuries and if new strikers click. 17 is likely finish.

As for the rest I'm not sure but maybe gills and walsall struggling along with Blackpool. A good season for Blackburn, scunthorpe and bury.

I wouldn't be so sure....Bury's last 4 seasons in League 1: 19th, 16th, 22nd, 14th. Your average finishing position is between 17th-18th place..
Yes, but we have a considerably better squad this time around than in the seasons you've mentioned.

:pond:I'm assuming this is wishful thinking for us rather than an accurate prediction.

We've finished in the top half in each of our last 8 seasons in League 1. With our new manager we also had the 4th best defence in the league since he took over in December, moving from 19th to 12th by the end of the season.

Hence why we are 5th favourites for promotion with bookies.

I'm not sure how you'd get an "accurate" prediction unless you're Nostradamus. All the best.

True. Nevertheless, anything higher than what you've put us as will be a more accurate prediction in the end.

It's all about opinions. I'm sure you know better than this simple son of the West Country. Would you like me to swap you with someone higher? Just say the word.

I'm just a plastic franchise fan, my opinion is worth exactly half that of a regular human being football supporter so unless another one of us enters this thread off the production line it will have to remain the same. :bg:

Shrewsbury have enough this season certainly not to struggle, after watching the players beat Aston Villa yesterday in comparison to seeing Last seasons friendly v Hibs when I thought straight away we were in the sh1t!

Pre-season means absolutely nothing. It has no relation to how well you perform in the league.

I disagree. I have seen us pre season and can pretty much predict how we going to do year on year from how shit or solid we look preseason..

Just before the first day of the season, I'll collate every prediction that has attempted the entire table, and produce the average of everyone's forecasts.

If I can be arsed.

Love being underestimated every season. We've not had a bottom half finish in any league under Keith Hill's management. Can't see us being bottom half for that reason, we will probably flirt with the playoffs as usual but just miss out again. Think our defence will let us down again. Only Sheffield United and Scunny outscored us last season. I'll post a full table prediction when I have more time on my hands.

I reckon we'll finish 10-15th at the moment. - depends on if we can get a decent striker in to help Ajose and Beckford and if we can loan Freddie Woodman to whether we can aim for any higher.

Yet again, I have refrained from sharing any opinion based predictions - I just don't see the point.

You only have to look at a couple of pages, and it's evidently clear that a lot of fans believe their respective club will finish higher than what others predict.

Unfortunately, there are only 3 promotion places - and a good 12+ clubs are going to be left disappointed.

I have no idea where we'll finish. We're an attacking squad, with very attack-minded tactics. However, we've done well in recent years based on a very strong defence, however, McArdle and Meredith have now moved on.

How come you don't think Scunthorpe will finish higher up? 3rd last season and to me you seem stronger if anything, or have you lost key players?

At the moment I don't think we will, a couple of good signings might change that though. We lost our captain at one of our players of the season in Dawson to Bury. I feel like our best player in Murray Wallace is going to leave as well. We need more creativity in the team too.

Do you think Morris' season was just a fluke? I mean you can't expect him to get 20 again but 8-10 would be a good return for a midfielder, although never looked like getting close with us.

I think the football league might have to look at how they're running things this year and offer the option for lots of teams to finish in the same position because at the moment predictions suggest that we've got about 19 teams finishing between 8th and 10th

I predict that one or more teams from the north of England will finish in the top 6. I'll go no further than that.

You remind me very much of us last season. Had a good season the year before and missed the play-offs narrowly, then went and signed some 'proven' players to try and cement the assault.

Ours didn't turn out so well, there's no guarantees yours will either!

Brave call, I'm pretty sure we have the worst playoff record in the FL.

I wouldn't say it was a fluke. He just had a ridiculous first half of the season and everything was going for him. He's got the ability. Even though he wasn't as good after Christmas, his record stayed pretty good. He was involved in a large amount of our goals.

No problem.

Other than us and Gills I have honestly no idea who else is thought to do poorly/have a poor squad and I haven't heard much from Rovers so that's why you're down there. It's very likely i'm wrong!

We'll do poorly if that helps.
