We lost to a 96th minute goal at Macclesfield 2-1. Youngster Max Woodcock got our goal. The average age of our team was about 17 I think. First team are playing at Kidsgrove tonight.

After our tough opener at San Mames on Friday night, we travel to the Mestalla tonight to face Valencia in the next leg of our Spanish tour. Think Valencia will likely field a mixture of first team and B team players but it will be a good test regardless.

Well, the Valencia of South Lakeland that is... aka the mighty Kendal Town.

On a quiet night news wise, the biggest story surely is that Sutton started their pre-season campaign with a 2-1 win over new National League side Dorking Wanderers, goals in each half from Donovan Wilson and Will Randall saw the U’s overcome a 1-0 deficit. Sutton pretty much it played a different XI in each half
A very competitive and entertaining game, Sutton had two player’s book by a very fussy ref

We have arranged a game at and v Heart of Midlothian on 16th July.

I've been singing Sunshine on Leith (very badly) ever since I heard...I might get punched by the other half soon.

Go up to that game singing Sunshine on Leith and you'll get more than one punch. Hope the jambos smash you.

Our goal we score from 1.57 is well worth watching.

I didn't even manage to do that when I played.

Lost 3-0 to Peterborough in Portugal.

Dan Happe and Craig Clay both played their first games since Jan/Feb.

Annoyingly we keep picking up niggling injuries. Harry Smith & Aaron Drinan both haven’t featured yet, Paul Smyth, Ethan Coleman and Jordan Brown also carrying knocks meaning our squad depth right now is being tested.

Squad splits on Tuesday away to Maidstone and Potters Bar. I’ll be at Potters Bar.

Drew 1-1 with Dundee United to finish our week in Scotland. Sounds like 2 decent results against Scottish Premiership teams.

We are going up.

usually good performances against any Scottish Premiership team other than the big 2 is a prelude to a shit season.

So after a very productive game in Valencia the other night, tomorrow we conclude our tour of Spain with a match at Camp Nou against Barcelona in what will be Rakish Bingham’s testimonial.

Of course Rakish never played for Carlisle, despite coming very close to on a number of deadline days, but it’s the club he said he regrets not playing for, hence his choice of opponents. So tomorrow he’ll get his chance to play in the shirt. He’ll play first half for the Blaugrana and second half for Carlisle.

I’m curious to know if the pre season friendlies thread still works the same way as it used to.?

By that I mean if any of us lose to a lower division team do we still have to mention 2 or 3 times after it that it was only a mix of youth team and trialists to try and save on the embarrassment?

2 Trialists starting against Villa 4 on the Bench one is Timmy Abraham another starting looks like a big centre back

yes - added emphasis if it was a team from the Scottish or Welsh leagues - apart from Celtic, Rangers or TNS

Losing 2-0 to Derby at half time. Derby look bang average and we look absolutely woeful.

Lost 2-0 to Derby. Both Derby goals had an element of luck. We didn't really work their keeper enough. Lots of changes, game time for some of the lads who won the under 19 title last season and no injuries. Standard pre-season stuff against an okay League One side.
