I'm basing that on their performances so far this season where they've generally been annoyingly impressive. That could change if Dyche leaves but they look a solid group of players.

Either way, I think they would be an attractive proposition to any Championship manager right now.

If wilder wasn't a blade, all his best mates blades, his life in sheffield I'd agree with you

Can't help but think a nice pay-rise and Premier League football will always win in the end.

Fair play, if he's not motivated by cash but a chance to manage a side in the Prem doesn't come around regularly regardless of loyalties.

I know they wouldn't but at least if he took us up he'd be managing his club with 32k there every single week, sell out at every away game or Burnley who he doesnt care about who get 18 or 19k and can't even muster 2k at Everton ffs, and why leave a club where everything is perfect for him, a club where he's loved , a club he supports and a club doing well to go to fucking burnley. Only possible reason would be a lot lot more money. At least if he leaves i hope its to a proper club like everton for example
A chance to manage in the PL, something he may never achieve with you guys, and get a good financial grounding for himself and family for the rest of his life, would be pretty attractive to me.

I can also see why he might stay with you guys, but given the opportunity I reckon he’d take it

Burnley isn't a bad job as long as you don't have to live within 10 miles of the shithole. Dyche does alright, I think he lives in Kettering.

We will see then won't we if they came in for him. Not sure what the wage difference would be, that's the only thing to swing it

Maybe I’m being naive but I’d be shocked if Wilder left for a bottom half PL club.

Wilder isn’t a normal SU fan (like Warnock), he’s fanatical about the club, he and his assistant Alan Knill still live in Sheffield and have done for many years. Wilders family and friends are Blades, his brother has been a SU season ticket holder for years., so it’s in his blood, he’s admitted several times that he’s currently living the dream and he stated that any salary increases aren’t that important, he just doesn’t want to be taken advantage of and paid the going rate.

Wilder constantly talks about old fashioned values and loyalty. He always says he’s rather have a basic player that will die for a club than a really talented mercenary player who couldn’t give a toss.

He’s a really humble bloke from a modest background and is still really grounded. He sometimes says that if a player starts becoming more interested in pay rises than doing his job, then they are out. Wilders main motivation Is career progression and challenge above financial gain. He preaches this to the players all the time, the importance of job satisfaction and achievement.

So he’d look a right idiot and hypocrite if he left for what appeared to be solely a much bigger salary.

Wilder has massive principles.
I’m 99% certain he’ll see what he can do at SU and see how much the board back him.
His dream is to leave SU with his head held high and his reputation intact.
He could become a living legend, which comes in useful when you live in the city ha ha.
If he left for Burnley he’d need to uproot and leave Sheffield, also you’d find that some of his family and friends wouldn’t speak to him. Is it worth it just for more money when he’s already on a big salary?

The only potential spanner in the works is a club like Everton because they are potentially a massive club (even more massive than SW ;-)) and would be hard to resist, however I’m sure Everton would want someone more high profile than Wilder , he’s hardly a sexy name and has no previous PL experience and no experience working with highly paid players with big egos.

In fact Wilder has said many times he doesn’t like big egos, no matter how good they are. He puts a lot of importance in team spirit and character, hence why he’s rarely bought foreign players. The personality and character of the player is really important to him.

Would he really care how many fans show up to watch the team he manages if he was being offered triple the wage he's currently on?

I know you'd sell out home and away in the Premier League but so would we and most clubs, Burnley are a remarkably successful club given the town size.

There would be no need to uproot his family etc, Burnley's hardly the other end of the country.

I hope you're right. Hopefully Dyche leaves for Everton though, he's doing a bloody good job.

Can't even see McCabe allowing Burnley a chance to even talk to him to be honest, why would he.

No way will wilder leave for Burnley. If Everton came knocking(which they won't) that would be a different matter as they are one of the biggest clubs in English football. I think he's on to a good thing at Sheffield united and has every chance of leading them to the prem.

I'd accept and understand if he came to you lot more than Burnley ffs. At least he's be leaving for a proper club who could compete at the top end of the prem at some point again.

To be honest mate, I think we would struggle to get him away from Sheffield united. for how big some people see villa, it really is a horrible job to manage.

Partially agree but if a player wanted to leave SU to join Burnley, he’d tell the player (someone like the highly talented David Brooks), why join Burnley when there’s a good chance SU will be in the PL next season. He’d say “just give us 2 years commitment and if we’re not in the PL then you can leave with my blessing”. The same applies to Wilder. Why walk out when he’s won 19 of his last 24 league matches. He’s creating something I’ve not seen in my 40+ years watching the Blades.

Regards uprooting his family, I realise he can commute to Burnley but every time he goes to the his local supermarket or the newsagent down the road he’ll get dirty looks and comments. He’d become persona non grata, instant hero to zero. It would initially be really really uncomfortable for both Wilder and his assistant Knill. In the short term they’d be better off leaving Sheffield and even some of his family would fall out with him. It could become really unpleasant for him meaning he’d be forced to move out of the city.

Everton and Villa are historically 2 of the biggest clubs in England. Both have truely fantastic histories and both still have fantastic potential. Both clubs will always be attractive to prospective managers.

A good chance we will be in the premier league next season, speaking very fucking prematurely there aren't you. Hope it happens of course, a ridiculously long way to go yet though and let's be reyt unless we finish top 2 we ain't going nowhere and to finish top 2 would be a monumental season. No way at all Boro, Wednesday and a couple of others won't come good eventually and have a run like we've had. It's all a case of us keeping this form up, I certainly don't see us completely collapsing though , far from it

Kettering is a fucking dump as well. He lives in a village just outside Northampton, think you'd describe it as 'leafy'.

Anyway, Mr Wilder is an ambitious chap and I think he'd be off if Burnley came knocking. The players seem to fit his style, hardworking, committed, no egos.

Fair point, “good chance” is the wrong phrase, more like “realistic chance”
even though I accept we are still big outsiders.

Agree, there are several teams with more potential quality than us.
If those clubs click (like you’d expect) then doubt we’ll keep it.
I’m just happy that we’re involved amongst the front runners
But we’ve seen how things can quickly change, not counting any chickens.

ahh reverse psychology mate:2thumb:
Thats like me saying to the lad..."The Blades won't keep this up for much longer"
You end up where you deserve to end up.
Its fairly obvious now that United are not a flash in the pan, too many games gone...As for us?
Yea I think we can get back into it, but we have to do it sooner rather than later...
This division is, and has been for years , about consistency, We aren't consistent,
We play like we did against you...patchy...We play like we did against Leeds...extremely well after 20 minutes..Then Bolton?...Birmingham?..Derby?...inconsistent, gets you nowhere bar fans not quite being able to make their minds up...Carlos in?....Out?...oh in then...no f.ook him...
Typical Wednesday
