If anyone here bothered betting (which I don't) skybet have Accrington 11/5 to beat us on Friday. Taking into account the realistic odds are about 1/20 - get your money on

Not really, I think he's just being realistic based on our current form and the team we are playing against and their form.

Adam you really are a dickhead just saying

I jus say things as they are. If being a dickhead is saying things how they are then cool.

Btw. That £20 I had on Accrington and advised on Mansfield followers was taken up by loads of fans. Why? The reason why is that it was going to happen when you know or have some knowledge of football, and it did. Been to watch Mansfield recently

A dickhead for predicting something right which everyone thought would happen. Well, jeez

Think we’ve both been Flitcrofted

Good shout about Accrington’s odds, by the way

Of course it was, it was easy money. £20 on 11/5 and £20 on accy or draw at 6/5. Easy easy money.

Don't confuse Spanish stag, he or she will think you're a dickhead

Horribly tight in the playoff race now.

Providing the top 3 remain as they are, 4 from: Notts, Exeter, Coventry, Lincoln, Mansfield and Swindon. Could be any order to be honest. I can't be certain on any of those sides definitely making it.

Adams right, I believe Mansfield have never beaten Accrington since they came back into the league even when Stanley have been good, bad or bang average. 2/1 when they are top 2 and in the best form in the division is a no brainer. In fact it’s criminally bad by the bookies. Even I had £10 on Stanley today so nice beer money made for later tonight.

Costa Del Stag ain’t the smartest cookie, clearly, and just didn’t like Adam saying anything against his beloved Yeeeelllloooowwwwssss or Ambers ? :dk:
Let’s be honest he still fully backs and believes in DF after a spectacularly bad start to his Mansfield career. I mean handbrake bad. My man Steve Evans has literally pulled down MTFCs season 17/18 pants and gone balls deep . :fl: Karma. Irony. The works. Marvellous :brill:

Thanks Adam for highlighting easy money , it’s like when Mansfield play Notts, easy money :2thumb: . Stats and history says so

Youuuuuu Pieeeessssss aren’t good enough to be involved in Promotion or Play offs this season

So what has Flitcroft done to achieve this reverse Midas-touch effect?

So what has Flitcroft done to achieve this reverse Midas-touch effect?

I can't speak for other Mansfield fans, but I genuinely did think we fell under the evans spell.

With the budget we've had this season, anything other than promotion is for a start an abject failure. Yes, we're Mansfield, and no, by and large we don't have big expectations, but given the budget and constantly being told by the owners and manager we'd go up, well many believed it, why wouldn't you?

The problems started last season when he took over, he convinced us all that rose was better than green (he actually is, but not much in it) but green needed to go and we'd get in better forwards - we didn't. It's led to a season littered by games where we've been the better side (without ever reaching full potential!) but not converting and being hauled back by more clinical sides on the break. Goals gets points, possession and nice football doesn't.

We were poor in evans last game against Coventry where we drew 1-1. We seemingly don't seem to have recovered since. Confidence is low, without rose we've no forward who knows what the goal is, we haven't a top 7 goalkeeper either, Logan is very average, great shot stopper, but today's goal for instance was easy for him to come out and collect, he didn't and was responsible for the goal.

Flitcroft has walked into a cauldron of fans who are deeply uneasy with the course of the season, he's got 1-1 draws in derbies against Lincoln and county, but the performance against FG was terrible. If he can get the players to replicate their form and passion for the rest of the season that they showed today, we could be alright. He just need a fair ref and not to play a team full of cons.

He's Luton away on Monday which most have written off. Next Saturday we entertain Crewe - that needs to be a win. No ifs. No buts. No maybes. Just a win.

I wouldn't necessarily write Monday off if i were a Mansfield fan, we are poor right now to be honest and have been for around 2 months. I am gutted to be honest that we have let such a good season slip away to be basically crawling over the line praying other teams dont string any results together.

Without Berry we are also liable to get dominated in midfield too.

I find it interesting, a lot of focus on the poor performance against Coventry in the 1-1 home draw but prior to that one game. What was Evans record in the previous 10-12 games. I remember Mansfield after a slow start really kick on post Christmas and many a Stags fan on here rightly getting very excited.

To come in to a club with upward momentum, talented squad, playing with confidence is very rare for a new manager. They usually come into a squad with no confidence, low league position , bad form etc. So he’s already at a huge advantage and he’s failed to win against Lincoln, Colchester, Notts, Forest Green and now Accrington.

That is so impressive... in a bad way. 3 goals in 5 games!! 3 points out of 15. That would never of happened under the Fat One, the convicted crim. how many goals would Stags have scored and points won from those 5 before Handbrake Flitcroft arrived?

Oh we can dominate midfield, we had a decent go at that today with 10 men. We've just no forwards who know what the net is with rose being injured.

Funnily enough we played poorly at Mansfield and somehow got a draw, since then we've gone 6 games unbeaten. It almost turned our players into believers. This and the signing of Clarke-Harris was a stroke of genius by Robins has put us where we are.

Don’t worry about that either, we’ll give you a couple of cheap goals from set pieces, no bother!

Yes, but we haven't anyone who knows how to score. Seriously, you're safe.

Though I've only been to Luton twice, and many years ago - 5-3 to Luton and 3-2 to Mansfield

8th Mansfield(39) - 63 points. Luton(A), Crewe(H), Stevenage(A), Chesterfield(A), Port Vale(H), Yeovil(A), Crawley(H)
9th Swindon(39) - 61 points. Crawley(A), Carlisle(H), Yeovil(H), Newport(A), Grimsby(H), Colchester(A), Accrington(H)
10th Carlisle(40) - 60 points. Lincoln(H), Swindon(A), Morecambe(A), Luton(H), Port Vale(A), Newport(H)

Working from bottom to top, Carlisle keep their slim hopes alive with a win at Cheltenham. They'll need 6 points from their next 2 you'd have thought, but they are hanging on in there. Swindon's inconsistency keeps biting them after only drawing with Morecambe, but a win at Crawley gets them right back in the hunt. Flitcroft has been a disaster at Mansfield, hardly surprising given Swindon's fans comments about him and the fact the players Evans signed don't seem like his type of players. Still, once Luton is out the way with, their run in is kind, so maybe there is still hope for them.

Lincoln get a massive win over Exeter and in such dramatic style too. Got some tricky fixtures, but with Carlisle a little bit behind and Mansfield and Swindon not in top form, 7th might be theirs for the taking. Would be a fitting way for the Cowley's to sign off before moving to Ipswich. ;) Dropped points for Coventry away at Newport? Still, not a bad point, and a win at home to Yeovil on Monday would represent a decent haul from the Easter period.

Not a great defeat for Exeter at Lincoln, given the fact they were 1-0 up and got it back to 2-2. Still, like Coventry, win at home on Monday against Cheltenham and they'll be nicely set for the last run of games. Did Notts County blow their last chance at the automatics by only drawing with Wycombe? Probably not, but with Accy and Coventry next up, their promotion credentials will be severely tested.

Good point for Wycombe on the other hand. 6 points from their next 2 should have them firmly in the driving seat for that 3rd spot. Or it could be 2nd, given Luton's ever increasing wobble. Not nice to see Luke Berry go off like that, but losing at Colchester is poor. Have they all but given the title away? Their next 3 look favourable mind, so still a chance for them to keep pace with Accrington.

As for the now top again Accy, what more can you say? The way they grind out results is so impressive, what a job Coleman has done there. Manager of the Year by a country mile. One more win and they should be up, don't see 3 other teams getting more than 80 points. Then it's about finishing top and with 2 games in hand on the teams below them, they are in a great position.

Again, some big promotion 6 pointers to come on Monday. Accrington v Notts County, Luton v Mansfield, Carlisle v Lincoln. So, have Accy all but confirmed promotion? Have Luton blown the title? Have Notts County blown the top 3? Can anyone catch those top 3? Is 7th now Lincoln's to lose?

Good work JJ1532 and to answer your "Have Luton blown the title" question, absolutely YES!

If we had even been half as good as we were in the first part of the season we would have had a reasonable cushion, even with the odd wobble thrown in for good measure, but we have well and truly choked the title opportunity away and I think Accy will win it at a canter now to be honest. They have just found that winning formula and are capable of grinding out results when not playing very well which we are simply not capable of doing.

I think we probably have enough to get us over the line, although losing Berry is potentially huge. Incredibly selfish of me I know given most would give their right arm to be in our position, but I cant say im not disappointed in how we have choked the title away given how things were 2/2 half months ago. I really did want to go up as champions.

We have blown our chance now. Forget about it. The best we can hope for is a home tie in the 2nd leg of the play offs.
I actually think we will win the next two but it’s not good enough now.
Looking at the playoffs as it stands I’d not pick any of them to be an “easier” tie. Lincoln would be a sell out both games, I’d imagine Coventry would be similar both of which can quiet easily turn us over. As for Exeter we beat each other away convincingly.

Saying that our captain marvel O’Connor should be fit for Monday, he wasn’t suppose to be playing at all this season...watch out league 2!

I'd like to think that's our toughest test over with. Very nearly came out on top there. So seven to go, four at home and all against teams eleventh or below. I guess there is still a chance that Colchester could put a run together so the final game might be crucial. Still lots of twists and turns to go.

No idea what the stats are, but has any other team had as many players missing with long(ish) term injuries this season?

Cuthbert - 3 months
McCormack - 6 months
Hylton - 2-3 months across 2 spells
...and now Berry for maybe 6 months+

That is the spine of our team. Who else could cope with that?
