To even have a slither of a chance, we would have to win all four of our remaining games and that is no way happening, even more so with our run in. Yesterday was another great chance as Accrington were there for the taking - even first half, but we were then well on top for the first 20 minutes after the break until they hit us on the break, then it was game over.
Accrington just have the knack of winning even if they're not playing that well / not particularly deserving of it.

Fair play to them.

I do hope its not going to be like what's happened on the previous two occasions - we gain promotion when not even playing!

There’s going to be some real ‘quality’ play off games by the looks of it. 4 teams who are serving up some real crap on a regular basis.

Yep. The lower the team, the bigger the whuppin’ they’ve given us.

Barnet, Grimsby, Chesterfield

How in God’s name are we 2 points off the POs?

If we won all of our remaining games we might just sneak it, but that would require winning two away games which obviously just ain’t happening.

We’ve got to make sure we finis fourth or fifth, though. We need to be at home second in the play-offs.

No games are winnable under shitcroft.

Crewe was winnable, then we conceded 4 goals in 28 minutes. The lad couldn't beat an egg.

Stevenage away tomorrow, that should be it for us, how we're still 2 points away is beyond me. If the lad fucks up and let's Chesterfield best us his position will be untenable

no 'winnable' games in this league when you support a DF side. Same with us. Looking at our run in, most of our last 9 games of the season on paper were 'winnable' but we have drawn with Morecambe, Crawley and Carlisle.

We are at home to Yeovil whose recent form makes it tough to predict what will happen. It's getting on towards last chance saloon and we really really need to win. We probably won't.

Ever so slightly renewed sense of optimism at our place after a decent performance and win over Coventry, combined with finally seeing a bit of pace and clinical finishing up top - IF we can get three points at Colchester on Saturday our next two are Yeovil (H) and Grimsby (A). Again, big ifs, but six points there against opponents who will hopefully have little to play for could put us within range of 3rd going into the final day, when weird things can happen. Personally I think it's a bridge too far, and it'll be the play-offs for us, but hopefully we can at least start to get into a bit of form going into them.

As for Mansfield, surely Radford has a few questions to answer? Why go for Flitcroft so quickly? It seemed a bit rash at the time, and the shocking results since seem to have borne that out. Christ, even our lot were unhappy last season when we were heavily linked with him - and that was after we had just lost a record 10 games on the trot and were down at the bottom.

Radford is obviously fantastic overall for the club, but his history in appointing managers is dodgy.

The only reason he didn't keep Duncan Russell (RIP) back in the conference is because fellow directors had to do some mad persuading, despite the fact it was obvious he was not up to the job. That being said, Flitcroft is a weird one, he's disliked by the majority but he's still got a promotion from this division, and he was well on course for a shot at promotion with Swindon too.

I'm only arsed about what he does at Mansfield though, and the manager and players have been completely shambolic since Evans left.

Great night for Notts, Lincoln and Coventry without kicking a ball as Mansfield and Swindon drop more points in winnable games. Realistically you would say that Notts and Lincoln now look pretty safe when it comes to a play-off spot.

Yeah, you'd like to think that's probably us in the PO's now.

Four points in and two games in hand would be a hell of a position to fluff it up from. We do have Coventry, Wycombe and Accrington to play with the former two being our games in hand so we can't be any worse off from losing those games and have the gap closed.

Far from over for Manny T or Swindon, but it's a blow.

Mansfield really do have an easy run in. All it needs is a stumble from Cov

Agreed, it's far from over, with only Lincoln looking nailed on with those two games in hand.

ps - plus obviously Exeter or Wycombe.

Agree with Vanni, Wycombe or Exeter whoever falls just short, And imps are in.

But after that...... could be anyone. Everyone else is stumbling.

No doubt all change after Saturday’s results, if Notts win , i’d add them to the above short list but we won’t win away so I won’t be able to sadly.

I think we need 4-5 from the 12 available.
Colchester were very tough at the Lane earlier in the season, so although they aren’t really in with a chance they won’t just roll over. I’d hope for a point though.
Then we have to be looking at getting 4 points from Yeovil and Grimsby.

Then just sit back and watch it all crumble away on Sky

That's 4 draws in a row and each time due to other teams in the play off chase dropping points our season isn't (yet) over. Which is annoying as I know deep down we ain't going up this season, but while we are within touching distance of Coventry (they have a game in hand) there is still that belief that we may be in the play-off shake up.

I'd rather it be over now as this season has been rotten. The highlight of my trips to the CG this season are my pre-match beers with my dad and the train getting back into Paddington on the way home.

Maybe a good World Cup will get the juices flowing for next season but its an effort to watch us in League 2 and I really don't know if I can be bothered that much any more. Its a lot of money for not a lot of entertainment.

Owd Conks is right the blame is almost entirely with Fatty Fat Fat Evans , he’s put you in this mess and Radford just added to it with a seemingly awful appointment.

With Evans in charge now, Mansfield would be 3rd or 4th guaranteed

Where’s Costa Del Stag gone to defend DF?
Im still here and still defending flitcroft ,still think we could sneak it ,but if not theres only one person to blame ,and i dont think its flitcroft ,i would give him time to ship a few of this lot out and get a few of his own in though im in the minority i suppose or maybe i just dont shout as much as some ,dont think i have to mention names

The blame lies with the players, and most importantly the manager. He didn’t exactly have the most difficult job to come in to mid-season did he.

Under Evans we were the most difficult team to beat in the division and gunning for automatic promotion. I’m guessing on form we are currently the worst team in the division and outside the play-offs.

It’s a epic disaster, very Mansfield like :ffs::lol:

Welcome back Costa, I was worried with you being so quiet recently, glad to see you re-emerge.

Also, fair play to sticking to your guns and backing DF. All new managers need time to get their own players/squad unless of course you are taking over an upwardly mobile team , who’s hard to beat, playing with confidence and gunning for Top 3! Then you don’t need to do much.

I genuinely think some Stags fans on here would do better than 3 pts from 24 with that squad. Just give a team talk saying, do what you’ve been doing, I’m not gonna change things up at this stage.

There is indeed one, maybe two people to blame for applying the handbrake to the season . I wasn’t expecting that, surely even Swindon fans expected him to win a couple by now

If it wasn’t for the Flitcroft effect at Mansfield we would have no chance of the play offs. He just can’t leave well alone. He keeps trying to prove he’s some sort of tactical genius by chopping and changing for no good reason.

All he had to at Mansfield was keep them ticking over. Unbelievably, in such a short space of time he’s managed to turn a team into a complete shambles. He’s got to be up there with other natural disasters.
