Will already have my home end tickets confirmed. An old mate from back at uni lives down there and goes to the odd game.
Quite impressive seeing as we don't even know who will play who yet. Unlike the league game, this will be a sell out so unless he is a season ticket holder and a trust member even he will struggle.

Well done Wycombe, not our day today. We need a point next week for a home second leg play off
Best of luck in the play offs,2 fan owned teams being promoted in the same season would be some achievement.

On to Yeovil, a la 2004. It'll be tense but with a weeks rest it'll give us a chance to recharge the batteries. Should be a cracker.

Huge for Cov, Imps and Stags next week. Huge! Whoever misses out on the play offs will be officially gutted! All had plenty of chances to secure a play off spot.

We need to draw or win to secure home tie in 2nd leg .

Well, despite being the 2nd best team in the division, Accrington have now secured the title with a game to spare. I've already used all the superlatives I can manage to describe the season they've had. Just got to get through next week and it's off to League One with the champions tag now earned. Luton follow them, they can have a nice trip to Nottingham next week and enjoy themselves. Maybe even help decide where County finish in the top 7.

And last but not least, Wycombe wrap up that 3rd spot with a win at Chesterfield. They've been grinding their way towards the finish line of late, but with their win today and the 2 below them both losing, they are now up and deservedly so. Ainsworth has done a great job there, even if some aren't overly keen on him. They now head back to L1 after a 6 year absence and will try to stay up for longer than a season after their last 2 visits lasted 12 months.

Surprised at the way Exeter blew it against Stevenage, but a win next week secures them 4th spot. Same goes for Notts County, although they were playing a Grimsby side desperate for a win. They'll now try to get a win at home to Luton, which won't be easy. A good win for Coventry at Cheltenham, sees them catch up with Lincoln on goal difference and move back into 6th. They finish with a desperate Morecambe team, but they still need a point to confirm their spot. Same goes for Lincoln, no disgrace at losing to the Champions, a home game against Yeovil should be just what they need to head into the top 7 in form.

Mansfield have hit form at the wrong time, they could still do it, but it doesn't look very likely.

Working on the presumption that the current teams in 4th-7th all make it, each of them could finish anywhere from 4th all the way to 7th. And whilst it's unlikely, Lincoln or Coventry could still miss and Mansfield could sneak in. So much to play for, given how wide open the current play offs are, no team can really affect who they end up playing. Can't wait to see what happens next Saturday.

I'm not sure second leg home tie is going to do is any favours tbh. We could be dead and buried by the second leg of we carry on as we did today against better strikers.

I think the 5 teams in or in with a shout of the PO's will be looking at others and not really fearing anyone. All seem inconsistent.

To get promotion via plays offs you have to play once at an oppositions ground and once at a neutral venue. With all games being shown live on TV!

That combination is bad news for the fans of the Stylish Magpies. Lincoln on the other hand have recent experience at Wembley , a good memory and perform very well in front of the TV cameras
I have us as distinct outsiders to succeed through the play off system even if we’ve been above and better than the Imps , Sky Blues and Stags all season

If level on points and goal difference, does it go down to wins or goals scored?

Goals scored, then the 2 teams head-2-head record. So for example you win 1-0 next week and Lincoln win 2-0, it would go to your record against each other. As you’ve both won one, it goes to goal difference in those 2 games, which Lincoln have the advantage in. I doubt it gets that far though.

As for a scenario which sees Mansfield sneak in, well, it’s very unlikely that it would take more than goals scored. Coventry would have to lose 4-3 and Mansfield to win 1-0 for that to happen. But with Lincoln, if they lose and Mansfield win, Mansfield would have better goal difference, so they wouldn’t need any other tiebreakers.

For me, Coventry will win the play offs. They've proven over the season that defensively and as a unit, they're difficult to beat.

Yeovil aside.

Well they did let in 4 at home to promotion rivals Lincoln not too long after conceding those 6 against Yeovil , sooooo not too sure about that Kenneth

Out of the likely play off sides. I think both them and Notts could be out of the tie after the 1st leg if they put in a poor performance. Cov weirdly inconsistent and Notts so bad away from home.

Think I'd back Lincoln to win the playoffs should they finish in the top 7. Just with the feel good factor around the place and expect they'd be a really tough opposition for their home leg.

It depends who the referee is, if it's a Premier League class ref then they have no chance but if it's a wimpy shit bag L2 ref then yes they will win the play offs easily.

They aren't difficult to beat. They've lost 15 games, the most of the current play off contenders. They've lost more than 3 teams outside the top 7.

Since the turn of the millenium, only 8 teams have gotten into the play offs having lost 15 or more games. The last team to go up with that many defeats? Blackpool in 2000-01. Coventry would buck an 17 year old streak if they did go up.

Apologies to Mansfield, but I'm working on the assumption that the current 4 in the play offs all make it.

I think all 4 teams are very evenly matched. All have their flaws, but all are pretty good at home whilst being average on the road. There is only a 6 goal gap between their goals scored and a 7 gap in goals conceded. They could all finish on the same points total next week, even if that probably won't happen. The biggest gap between the team that finished 4th and 7th will be 6 points, so it's not like the team in 4th can feel hard done by if they don't go up.

Just had a look at the records for all 4 against each, yet again they are all almost identical.

Exeter, 3-0-3
Notts County 3-1-2
Coventry 3-0-3
Lincoln 2-1-3

I don't think you(in a general sense) can call these play offs. Could make a case for all 4 to win. Coventry have the form, Lincoln the big game experience, Exeter have play off experience from last season, County are the top goalscorers. All are capable of some shockers. Will make a point to view these play offs, should be a close run thing.

I look forward to fans of middle table also rans and relegation battlers critiquing the semi finals , and commenting how poor they look , as happens every season.

Our Goalie will give me a bloody heart attack by season end. How I'm going to manage the playoffs, if we get there, I don't know. Most fans choose to close their eyes everytime he goes near the ball. Yes, he can have the odd blinder, but even in those games, he makes a right rickett or two.
Our defence generally after a great opening 3/4 of a season, have recently decided to stop doing what they did early on, though we do have some cover back at last, so should be a bit more steady in that area from now on. Our forward line is fine, we seem to create a lot of chances and McNulty is going to be key if we are going to do it.
All in all none of have faith we will beat Morecombe next Saturday so this could all be irrelevant as if there is a club can fuck this up its Cov. We have lost to FGR , Newport and Yeovil at home so how can i be confident. I will try to ignore this and remain confident which is very hard knowing Cov

Just wonder what we do next week. Rest players (particularly Stockley) or go for it so we get at least a point to guarantee 4th or 5th. The one thing we don't want (apart from an injury) is a red card. Unless it's for Lloyd James

My only niggling sorrow, on what should have been a day of unbridled promotional joy, was the thought of no longer being entitled by divisional right next season to benefit from Carver’s incredibly articulate, witty and in no way bargain-bin WUMmery.

Next season, if I wistfully gaze upon some top Carver bantz in a moment of nostalgia, I can only hope I’ll be man enough to suppress a tear.
