I can see Port Vale winning their next four games and Mansfield winning their next five (Scunthorpe and Carlisle away, Stevenage, Sutton and Crawley at home.) I can see Exeter getting ten points from their next five games which leaves all three teams on 81 points with two games left each to play.

Vale’s last two games are Bristol Rovers and Exeter, whereas Stags are Salford and FGR. It’s going to be tight.
I can't see any team winning four or five in a row at this stage of the season.
I'm confident 80 points will be enough, so three wins needed from seven. Be nice if we could get those before the Northampton and Vale games

Almost, it’s actually Newport as the last home game then Exeter away. Right now I think for the third spot it’s one from Vale, Mansfield or B.Rovers. Obviously Northampton on same points as the latter two but something just seems a little off with them.

Still a lot that can happen. It is not crazy to say Oldham could just as easily come to VP on Saturday and pull something out the bag. This league more than any other that can happen. In which case if that does happen in terms of operation fuck off Stevenage you’re all welcome just to state.

Mansfield still in a decent position.

We do need Oates back though, and Clough desperately needs to stop playing Akins upfront, he’s played well on the right but not upfront.

You've got a pretty kind run of fixtures now. It does seem that Clough makes the odd decision that leaves fans scratching their heads.

It's going to go down to the wire. It feels like we're too good at the moment for most but we all know with Vale that it can come crashing down quickly.

Hoping for 10,000 on Saturday.

We are in a great position after last night but its about game 46 and the position after that.

Bowyer reckons we are the best side in the league which was a nice compliment considering his antics during the game!

If we win the last 6 we are up but it doesn't work that easy unfortunately and sure there will be twists and turns, we seem to have really clicked and are finding ways to win which we weren't a few weeks ago, on paper we've had some really tough games and taken 19 points from 21 so its certainly feeling positive but all Vale fans know there is the niggling feeling with the Vale!

Its a cliche I know but it is 6 cup finals and we have to take them 1 at a time, we are playing extremely well at the moment and it feels like a special group this season but if we take our eye off or get complacent we will be punished so have to just take it a game at a time.

10 points from our next 5 games? Eh? Someone didn't do well in Math class.

5 games is 5 wins, and that's 15 points, not 10.

To get 10 we'd have to win 3 and draw and lose one, which obviously isn't happening.

If FGR win on Saturday and both Tranmere and Sutton fail to win then FGR will be guaranteed at least a play off place.

Oh it’s completely in port vales hands and it would be a massive surprise if they don’t go up now, the top 3 look nailed on for me.

For some reason I feel so much worse about our chances today than I did yesterday. I guess I'm so used to us bottling it that my main hope was other teams bottling it more. Even though we're still 5 points clear of 4th, it was nice to be 5 clear of 3rd as well.

We haven't been right since our COVID outbreak before Christmas, I'm surprised that we stayed in the auto's for so long. Play-offs is my expectation but can't even guarantee that the way we are at the moment.

Yeah. i’m still scarred after the fucking flitcroft debacle several seasons ago, that would be typical, that fucking tit goes and gets promoted instead of us.

So they’re not going to be secured of a playoff place on Saturday then…

More than just Vale and Mansfield in contention for a automatic spot, one game at a time!

He doesn't have any influence on the matchday, he is just a DoF (part time I think) so is only really involved in recruitment and the running of the club.

Aye his remit is mainly contracts and recruitment as well as coaching structure etc. Think him and DC are also working together on developing new training ground too.

Matchday right now is strictly in Andy Crosbys domain until the summer. That’s the one fear I have now that some smart club will look at how he has navigated the squad through this time and look to make him their permanent manager. Wouldn’t begrudge him that of course but would be a tough act to follow.

Yep although DC rightly takes many plaudits it was when Crosby came in that bonkers run last season occurred!

Yep was probably one of the most important signings DC made. Definitely our best manager and assistant partnership since John Rudge and Billy Dearden. I know a number of people at the time questioned our investment in the backroom staff but regardless how the season ends the club have been proven right.

We'd have to maintain a ridiculous unbeaten/winning run to keep this up until the end of the season. I think we'll lose one or maybe even two games, but hopefully win the other 4. Positive results in our next two against a rejuvenated but ultimately poor Oldham side and a Hartlepool who seemed to have packed up for the beach a few weeks ago would put us in a very strong position. I'd then expect us to beat one out of Newport or Bristol Rovers at home and also Walsall away, who again should have nothing to play for. I think we'll need a result of some sort at Exeter, which isn't ideal.

I’m aware he’s not involved matchday, just still, the season a few years back still resonates and we will lose out on autos and end up at sodding newport or somewhere shit again and lose.

On a side note it’s encouraging that darrell clarke is on a phased return after what’s happen personally from a vale fan in work, if we don’t make the top 3, i think given the loss he’s had i’d like it to be you boys that go up for that reason alone

For yourselves and Exeter to slip up and feature in the play offs it will mean;
a) you to lose games which you havent done of late
b) everyone else to win all the game which nobody has done of late
I think your result at Salford was the key one, im pretty much looking at play off spots now

We do well against the top sides but say Oldham come and park the bus and frustrate thats the type we slip up in...

We will probably beat you, Newport and Exeter and lose to Oldham, Walsall and Hartlepool for example! Nothing is ever as simple as a Vale fan of cruising to promotion from this position.

Yep anything can happen, but it will have to take a big change of fortunes for the current top3 not to stay there imo. We are only a decent goalscorer away from being in there ourselves.

Doesn’t have to be us losing. A lot of our wins over the past few months have been by a single goal, it wouldn't have taken much for those to turn into draws. Whilst I'd not be surprised to see us go unbeaten (apart from against Northampton) the rest of the season, if we had a run like last year where we drew every game we could easily be overtaken.
