If we play like we did today I think we'll be champions before the last game of the season. To Port Vales delight. Our only issue is to get a consistent scorer otherwise it'll be 0-0s and 1-0. Probably concede 1 more goal in our next 6 games.

we can probably go the rest of the season without winning a game now and go up. 6 draws could do it.

Only 2 more away games and 4 at home..

Big grinding win today. Form team in the division so just need to keep it up for the next 5 games.

Today felt massive considering the type of win it ended up being.

Good results below bar Mansfield so one more win should secure at least top 7.

I can see Vale and Stags both on 81 points with two games left going into the TV games.

How many FGR and Exeter will have by then is another matter.

Looking at your fixtures i can see 8 points more will it be enough who knows ive got us down for 12 but who knows

Who knows, at this time of year with the pressure on its even more likely you will drop points where you least expect it. My expectation is whatever needs to be decided will go to the final day. Suppose our advantage right now is GD by a huge distance and it could well come down to that.

Not sure Swindon now in last chance saloon to make the playoffs but getting close to that point. Salford look the ones to watch for me.

Salford looked one dimensional midweek but shows what a good result that was and performance. It’s going to be tight, results aside from Mansfield and Exeter went well.

First job is secure the top 7 and one more win should do it.

Do you think we will lose to stevenage

No.

So, we've won 7 from 8, 1 defeat in 18, and suddenly we're going to drop 7 points in the final 5 games? Fine, if that's what you think but I don't think you do. More wishful thinking on your part.

We've had a bloody tough run. We've beaten Salford, Sutton, Mansfield and Oldham recently and a point against Exeter. Not like we've had easy games.

Personally, I think it'll be neck and neck until the final two games as a poster above has said. I think you'll drop points in the meantime though, where, I don't know, but you'll draw somewhere along the line. It's whether we can capitalise and create a bigger gap to have some comfort heading into the final two games. Should we drop points in the next 3 games, then it's going to be very interesting and could go down to the final day. I hope not. Cba going to Exeter needing a result whilst you get a free ride against champions FGR who won't give two fucks about the game.

So they are both going to win all their games before then? I would doubt it.

Good for the GD

I may well be wrong but i look at your remaining games and see a few draws against play off promotion rivals,i only have us getting four more points than you because we have an extra game in hand in hand against stevenage ,we have four games at home where wev,e won 11 on the bounce its gonna be tense

Stone as in the Vale keeper? It was picked up, he got booked and they had a free kick which he tipped onto the bar.

I did say if we were in the top 3 after yesterday's match then we'd stay there, but I'm still not ready to say it's definite. Despite our dominance it took a late goal to finally win it, and I'm worried that we will be in trouble if those single goals don't materialise. Port Vale and Mansfield are in pretty good form, and it wouldn't take much for them to catch us.

On the other hand, I'm pretty confident they're the only teams that can catch us. Forest Green don't look convincing at the moment. It would make me a lot happier if they got dragged back into the mini-autos league that has formed in the top 4.

At least if we fail to get promoted this season we’ll have a couple close games in Forest Green and Exeter next season.

If 1 loss in 18, and 7 wins from 8, is 'pretty good form', I'd hate to see your concept of superb or excellent form?

I seriously don't get why exeter fans are looking at Mansfield and Port Vale as if they're a threat to us. Beggars belief. The only team we need to focus on is FGR who are currently winning the two horse title race.

My biggest concern for Mansfield right now is a injured Rhys Oates, We are going to miss him especially against the better sides we have yet to play.

With the top 3 places sewn up, the important thing yesterday was to put space between us and 8th which we did. hopefully oates back in a week or 2

Love how Vale fans are so easily triggered.

It’s going to be a fun end, who knows what will happen, just enjoy the ride!*

*until we finish 4th and lose to Newport in the semi finals

Would be an incredible final day if FGR hit a sticky patch and all the top four are within 2/3 points which us four playing each other!

Shame sky have put the second last game on but the away fans for the last round will be stuck to twitter or BBC live text if they can’t get a ticket.

Not at convinced we've even got auto-promotion assured yet, with our current set of injuries and current limited supply of goals

That said, the boys do have fight. I might not be surprised if we end up winning more of the remaining "challenging" games (Bristol Rovers, Mansfield) than the ones that on the basis of league position should be "easy" (Barrow, Oldham).

Obviously after the season we've had it would be a major disaster to drop out of the top three, but it may yet happen....
