This guy has some interesting views on the promotion race. Obviously question his logic on predicting us 5th, but I'm sure Mansfield fans might have a thing or two to say...

Logic seems pretty sound at my end

I'd say Mansfield are nailed on for at least a playoff place and Exeter are nailed on for automatic.

We will know more this time next week.

After tranmere and port vale i thought we’d be in bother, stevenage was called off though i expected a win, but we’ve then got 7 from rochdale oldham and hartlepool.

If we can get 4 from northampton/FG i’d be delighted

I wish I could believe that. Pretty sure we'll be in the playoffs minimum, but still worried about automatics.

I love how the majority of us seem certain we’ll cock it up

Obviously only 4 spots available, (realistically 3 with FG) will be fun

Still reeling over those two points dropped last night, I don’t think automatic promotion sides do that at this stage of the season.

I don't actually think our run in is as tough as people are making out. Granted at this stage of the season if you're in the mix every game is a big one but we've now 5 at home and 4 away, Northampton the toughest of those at home this weekend, you could argue Forest Green but it's the final day so hopefully they've got the title sewn up by then.

Lots of twists and turns to come for us all no doubt. Its so much easier when you're finishing 14th and haven't had anything to play for since mid Feb

I can pretty much guarantee that every team will think they have fucked it after a particular game didn't go their way.

Teams at the bottom will pull off unexpected results. It has always been thus. A few years ago we played Luton, who were absolutely flying at the time and got promoted. We beat them 4-0 with one of the worst teams in our history.

Results will never go how you think they might. All teams will drop points and drop down places and then bounce back up the next week.

It's all about consistency now. Which team is capable of winning 6 of their last 8 games.

FGR and Exeter should now get the jobs done from where they are, the third spot is still very, very much up for grabs.

Jevani Brown has turned out to be a very key signing for Exeter, the damage he's done playing for them in that number ten role IMO has looked key to what they do. He's been miles better than he was at Colchester.

Has any other season been like this one where a week before Easter any of 11 teams could be promoted?

Huge grinding win today despite injuries and a sloppy first half, the kind of win we hadn’t been getting and the belief seems through the roof at the moment.

With the things gone against us this season it’s a remarkable effort to get back into the top 3, challenge now is to stay there but crucially try and quickly chalk of the wins to get the play offs secured first.

If we can beat Salford and hope FGR do a job on Mansfield then it’s in our hands but got to focus on our own job really rather than worry about other sides and hopefully it will take care of itself. FGR could beat Mansfield then go on a bad run but finish above us by the odd point so until May you don’t know what’s a good outcome I guess!

It’s tight up there and that GD is looking handy and could be crucial come May.

We’ve started turning all those draws into wins and seem to just never give in at the moment so bodes we’ll for us.

Yeah GD could be huge this year. It's one of the reasons I fancy Vale for the third spot.

It was annoying to win such a battle against northampton to see everyone else had won, bloody hell.

Maybe one way of looking at things is that those outside the playoffs have fallen away a little,

Salford are a bit of a worry. They are that side that hits form at the end and storms in and being that tight could even nab the autos!

I agree with you, looking at your fixtures your really should finish top 3 and it would be quite the fuck up if you didn’t.

Crunch time now really. Our next 4 games are:

Tranmere (A), Salford (H), Vale (A), FGR (H).

Make or break really

Happy to see that Carlisle have gone off the boil just in time for us to play them next week. A win there and we can relax a bit, with 4 of our remaining 6 being at home, and 3 of them against teams in the bottom 6.

We’ve got a modest run in, Salford A they are flying, Bristol Rovers and Newport at home and Exeter A. We’ve done well in the games against the top sides so far but still tricky.

Probably need 3 wins for play offs (75 points) so that’s the first aim. It’s nice to be in the mixer at this stage, aside from the covid cull it’s a rare event (2013 and 2004) that we’ve been involved.

Last weekend of the season-

Exeter v Vale
Mansfield v FGR

Could be quite a day if those are the top 4 at the time
