I just have to reiterate, after skim reading, that if you take a view on a Facebook "bantz" page as the view of a fanbase then your pretty bloody stupid. You have to be slightly idiotic to look on them let alone post on them.

Don't think anyone would have been wrong to think Grimsby had the momentum, but to be fair in making judgements on what people say, I'm sure people were claiming we were having a wobble when our forms still been pretty bloody good, also a Barnet fan used to love claiming we can only score 1 goal a game.

For the record, if we don't go up, I'd like it to be Grimsby. Proper football club.

Grimsby will drop points at home to Wrexham, Bristol Rovers will drop points at Dover, we'll drop points at home to Halifax but it'll still be enough for us to win this shite hole; and I hope anyone other than the two big time Charlie's join us up. I wouldn't mind Eastleigh. Whoever wins this league is going to be the worst team to do so in years.

Personal insults, nicely done. Exactly the kind of thing they do on those 'bantz' pages you know.

I also haven't taken it as a view of your fan base, otherwise I'd have said that. What it is, is a view of a side to your fan base as backed up by posters on your forum and pockets of fan behaviour. It's not the majority, although is hardly say that the actions of you relatively civilised bunch on TFF is the majority too.

They're not far off the opinions spouted on both of your fans forum though, to be fair.
I can't speak for the Bristol Rovers forum, but the GTFC posters on this site are a far cry from some of the ones spouting crap on The Fishy!! ;)

So I'll take the Barnet fan who signed up to the Rovers forum back in December just to troll our fans when we weren't even close to you as a side view of your fan base, then?

If you don't take that as a view of our fan base, I haven't insulted you, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

One fan, who was probably a kid. Rovers and Grimsby fans pretty much dominate the world of idiotic, insulting and demeaning comments: take a look at the Tweets sent to Barnet during any one of our matches (some of which are genuinely disgusting), some of the comments after Barnet score/win on your respective forums, the comments from the world of depravity which is the Facebook banter page.

Every team has their portion of idiots and as said above fortunately only a few of them seem to have made their way onto TFF. But it seems that as our lead has dwindled away more and more of these 'people' are coming out of the woodwork. It clearly is a portion of your fanbase and it clearly is a portion that's increasing in size. At best some of the comments made are extremely rude towards Barnet and the fans, at worst some of them verge on criminal. It's not pleasant and certainly doesn't reflect well on your club(s), no matter how proportionally big/small this section is compared to your total support.

It's a bit dramatic calling a face book page a world of depravity . It's a site run by twats for twats . Don't let it get you down.

That was sarcasm based on how it was described above, is all. I think all of the people posting on there are morons, every post degenerates into which person is a bigger paedo than the others.

Obviously we're going to have more plonkers on the forums, purely because we have more fans. It's all relative in it :cool1:

I thought that's why we had this forum for the "so called" more sensible fans so that we don't have to go by what's put on our own clubs forums or Facebook pages.

As far as I'm aware there's been no real boasting that we're going to win the league by any of the Bristol or Grimsby fans on here.

I don't think it's unreasonable for Grimsby fans or us to get a bit excited about the fact we've managed to pull barnet back and make it a proper title race .

There's a difference between getting excited and sending rude, abusive tweets/degrading fans of other clubs/thinking your club is the dogs bollocks based on attendances though mate, which both sets of fans *appear* to be doing at the moment.

Course there is and I was agreeing with the Grimsby poster about the lack of grandstanding on this forum particularly . There's been a bit of a laugh and some light hearted ' banter ' but I haven't seen anything agressive or massively insulting on here .

I don't post quite as much as I want to on here but I do log in daily and from what I have seen there has been no Billy Big Boll*cks from any Gasheads or Grimsby fans (except the occasional tongue in cheek comment). On other forums it may be a different story, but bar our own one I don't look at any others because they are inhabited by kids or blokes who behave like kids. There may be knobbish behaviour on Facebook Banter groups but to be fair what do you expect?

On here, though, I think some pretty good debates and discussions take place.

That's what I'm saying, the fans on here are by and large very decent. Everywhere else though they seem to be rude, childish and unpleasant.

But you seem to believe that it's just us nasty big clubs who have rude, childish and unpleasant fans. Unfortunately, the internet just creates those who like to either talk rubbish or wind people up who wouldn't do either in the cold light of day. I usually find them to be kids or bitter older fans, but every club has them. From the "proper" clubs to the "tinpotters", from those at the top of the league to the bottom.

For every one of our idiots, and don't get me wrong, there are plenty, there are people who want to target us as a wind up. It's the whole premise of modern day football fans on t'interweb. When we came to this league, we heard that Luton fans gave it the billy big balls and they'd rubbed all up the wrong way. We also heard from their fans that people liked to have a go at them for all sorts for being a "big club" - From my perspective I've probably seen both sides.

The Codheads won't win it, they will bottle it in the play offs as usual as well
You seem obsessed with seeing us bottle it as though last season wasn't enough, where you very barely beat us, needing a goalkeeping howler and 9 men to do it.

We are however at least in the position to bottle it, have been for 3 seasons and will be for a few years to come. I'd definitely take that opposed to being stuck at a poxy midtable shitehole club like yours. Why don't you turn your obsession to a team like Woking or Halifax and stop giving yourself a nosebleed.

Anyway, if anybody is taking what is said on The Fishy seriously, let alone bloody facebook banter pages, they need to stay off the internet.

I remember this from tff , when we were shit it was all uh oh look how hard this league is . Then when we started to win a few games it was , you should be walking the league , look at your wage bill / money.

I've loved the atmosphere in the games against the big clubs. Segregation, smoke bombs, fat blokes with their shirts off, what's not to like? Grimsby at home was ace, so were Lincoln, Macclesfield and Bristol Rovers. It certainly beats watching North Ferriby, Colwyn Bay and Vauxhall Motors.

Both are generally true. This league is hard to get out of and in theory having one of the biggest budgets should give a better chance of promotion. Only two promotion spots ensures that this is the case for any team.

This is true , but fAns can't have it both ways , rovers fans came onto the non league forum being in the most part respectful and suitably humble about our new status . We then started to win a few games and were told " you should be pissing it " then it was " oh look at the big bollocks rovers " . I suppose its natural position to an extent , a bit annoying but in the grand scheme of things I don't give a shit .

Most, if not all, were pretty confident we'd mess it up. We have.
None of us on here said anything like that. As has been said already, we were just really happy that we'd cut what had at once point seemed like an insurmountable gap down to a single point. Throw in a local ex-player of ours who was well liked scoring the late goal past Barnet that allowed it to be possible and it's hardly surprising at all.

You'd have to say Bristol Rovers are going to win their 3 remaining games, so Barnet need to do the same and their matches are far more difficult.

So top 3 pretty much confirmed now just the order to sort. Only Macc can break in there but being 8 points behind is very unlikely. Top 2 confirmed for the play-offs and short of Eastliegh turning around 12 points and GD means Grimsby are all but confirmed too.

The other two spots not sorted though anyone down to 10th can still get in there with only 6 points separating Gateshead and FGR.

As for the title still relying on Barnet dropping points but Halifax will be tough next week. If we win our last 3 we can't complain if we don't get first but it sure is going to be fun

At the minute Halifax, Gateshead and Dover still in with a chance of play-offs so all want to win. Alfreton could still well be trying to save relegation on the final day. We have 3 teams already in holiday you'd like to think. All to play for, of course Gateshead could be out of it very soon.

Dover away could prove a very, very tough game. Barnet do have the toughest of the 3, but sometimes that can go in your favour as teams try to win against you and leave yourself vulnerable instead of playing for a draw.

I personally can't see Barnet slipping up twice, you never know, but it's a big ask so it's a tough test for Grimsby.
