Arsenal with a better shot at a trophy this season and a younger squad than City. He would face less competition at Man City, I suppose.

What would you say to £30m off City for Wilshire and £20-30m + Theo for Sterling? Frees up some surplus and brings in one if the brightest young players in Europe at no great loss in my view.

I would do both, but I think I'm in the minority on the Wilshere front.

Always a tough call as a fan when it comes to one of your own. It'd be a sensible move though.

Suarez, Sterling and Gerrard all leaving within a season - I almost feel sorry for Sturridge...almost. If he wasn't so injury prone he'd probably jump ship too at this rate.

They won't let him go easily and not to a rival in the Prem.

To be honest I'm not sure I can see anybody paying what Liverpool will want for him. We certainly won't, the last thing we need is another winger with Sanchez, Ox, Walcott, Welbeck and Gnabry. Perhaps City will given that they need more young and British players in their team. Might be tight with FFP though. United just bought Depay. Chelsea are like us and have other priorities. I can't imagine what teams abroad will want him...Bayern's wingers aren't getting any younger but I can't see them seeing any value in Sterling (pardon the pun). Madrid/Barca have no need for him right now and he's not really good enough.

Either City or Arsenal will take him.

He hasn't been that good this season, it'd make absolutely no sense for any part if he leaves. He'll struggle to be a starter at most clubs a tier above us able to pay the asking price.

For a while he was in superb form, but yes overall he hasn't been at his best consistently this season. If he wants games and to improve he should stay at Liverpool, but he looks as if he wants to leave so that does beg the question, where indeed does he go to?

I can't see him having any trouble being first choice in a wide position for anyone above you in the Premier League, apart from United, but that's only dependent on their formation.

Brilliant discussion there about this between Neville and Carragher.

I get that Liverpool don't want to be dictated to by him but given that he has his contract runs out in 2017 they might as well swallow there pride and cash in while they can because if they don't sell this summer then the price will drop and they could risk losing him for nothing if he were to sign for a foreign club

I reckon you overrate his current ability, then.

He really hasn't performed anywhere near his last season standard this season. And last season, quite a few players were playing out of their skins. Raheem has a lot to prove before trusting that he'll be a nailed on starter at Arsenal/Chelsea/City.

Stockport County.
Fuck me imagine the nerve if he went to United. Would be a bigger reaction than Figo to Real or Campbell to Arsenal surely?

Won't happen though. He'll go to the poor relations in Manchester and suffocate in boredom, winning the odd trophy but with nobody really caring.

I can't think who would keep him out at any of those clubs. Sanchez and Hazard would obviously get their choice of wide position, but I'm not sure who's ahead of him on the other.

This reminds me a bit of the Rooney transfer saga: you just can't see the players leaving the Premiership and not quite see him playing for another big club. Then again, I thought the same about Torres.

Do QPR have a sell on? If they do could help a lot with their FFP troubles.

You are right about it being unlikely for him to move abroad or join another big club, that's why he'll join City.

He would easily get into Arsenal's starting XI

What Carragher said about this on MNF was spot on. I haven't heard Neville's view.

I reckon if Sturridge was fit he would be joining Stirling in handing in a transfer request

You can always rely on an Arsenal fan to have a knowledgeable view about transfer requests from players. I am surprised Sanchez hasn't handed in a transfer request to Barcelona...oh wait!

Agreed. There is no reason for Sturridge to stay when bigger clubs come calling. It is just a natural law of football. Players always jump from smaller ships to bigger ones. De Gea will be another notable player to jump the ship this summer. Similarly, as rejects from bigger ships are given away like a bone thrown at a dog, there are many smaller ships who wants to take them. Of course, even among the smaller ships there are relatively bigger ones, who will the winner of the dog fight. Recent ones (bones) in the premier league include Di Maria, Falcao, Sanchez, Bojan, etc.

100%.

He started brightly this season and he's been really poor for a good few months now. Yes, i realize that he is only 20 but he has so many weaknesses to his game and it would be foolish for him to move this season. He's not gonna get the same playing time and for all his faults, Rodgers usually deals well with the younger players.

His decision making in the final third of the pitch is dreadful, and i'm not even exaggerating. Whether this is something he will improve down the line remains to be seen.
