He's always open and honest what he says. Yep sometimes it comes out a bit David Brentish, but he calls it as he sees it. I'd rather have that than listen to someone like Mourinho who basically only says two or three default things.

Mourinho is the biggest bullshitter in the league and he is in a category of his own but Rodgers is guilty of it from time to time as well. The stuff he said about Southampton for example, Spurs when they spent a large sum of money, the recent stamps etc etc- he's not open or honest at all.

Rodgers often speaks above his station and looks sly and cringey.

He said both of those things as thats how he feels about them, he wasn't being disingenuous. If Spurs or So'ton fans found the quotes disrespectful thats up to them, but he told it as he saw it.

I gave three examples. There are plenty more as well. He is a Premier League manager, of course he is a lying, hypocritical sack of shite. I don't know why you are defending his honour so vehemently!

He stretches the truth occasionally, but more often than not Brodge answers a question directly and doesn't deflect it away like a lot of other managers do and I always think thats a commendable trait. :)

He leaves the deflecting for when he looks like a complete hypocrite I.e Skrtel, Spurs spending etc.

He might get it when he replaces Lambert.

Stockport County.
They have as much chance of winning the league or trophies as Liverpool currently, i.e. not a lot. Then there is the fact of the unofficial transfer embargo's between the sides. Its a waste of ink that 'story'.
Which is the more ridiiculous comment you have made; this one or the "Brendan Rodgers says it how he sees it line"?

Not been following this very closely and I can't be bothered reading through 9 pages of this (especially since most of it is Liverpool/Man U boring point scoring) but I'm disappointed that he didn't sign a quite generous offer. He's a solid prospect but that's it. Mourinho can still destroy him à la SWP and not a lot of clubs will offer him more than £100k per week given his young age. Certainly not Wenger.

As I said he was being honest in his thought on Spurs, they threw their money around and didn't get anywhere with it. They had no plan or direction either once they got those players in - just put them all in the side and see if they can gel. They aren't that much better this season either; its only the emergence of Kane who has been a revelation that's kept them slightly in the hunt, and not their £27 mill Soldado (who I do like actually) and Adebayor. Also I'm with Rodgers in that there was nothing in the Skrtel incident, so Rodgers is not hypocritical in either case for me.

Which is the more ridiiculous comment you have made; this one or the "Brendan Rodgers says it how he sees it line"?

So you think Arsenal and Liverpool are capable of consistently winning trophies then? Liverpool have won one since 2006, and Arsenal 1 since 2005? Not exactly consistent trophy success is it?

And Chelsea, though you lot are going to be in a similar predicament going forward. Its Chelsea and City that are the dominant teams now.

Don't think City are in a more envious position going forward than their neighbours or Arsenal. Aging squad, inorganic revenues to comply with FFP compared to the other two, and Kompany seems to have regressed. Will likely have to accomdate more homegrown players and a new manager.

UEFA practically make a new rule every week to try and stop those plastic plonkers. They despise them with a passion and everything they stand for. City can run but they can't hide.

He's not good enough for a big move says Phil neville http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32185092

I'm sure some will jump on this because it's Phil Neville but he's right. He's a decent player but still has a lot to learn. I'm sure he will become a great player but if he moves too soon to somewhere he's only going to be a bench player it will ruin his career. He'd be far better accepting £100k or whatever he's been offered. Signing a 3 year deal and seeing where he is then.

City or Chelsea would be really bad moves for him. they've both already ruined several promising players careers. He's not what United need so that only really leaves Arsenal or a move abroad. Arsenal won't offer him the cash he wants so a move abroad or staying put are his best options.

If he really wants to move he'd be best suited to going abroad and broadening his horizons a bit.

People will jump on it, because it's bollocks and Phil Neville is bollocks! :bg:

Sterling is a better player than Young, Nevas, Willian and Welbeck. He'd get into any of the teams currently above Liverpool and he knows that.

Phil Neville is talking about Diego Costa and Aguero, but they aren't the players that Stirling will compete with for a starting place.

Sterling is a better player than Welbeck.

yes Clearly

2013/14 Welbeck 36 games 10 goals Sterling 38 games 10 goals
2014/15 Welbeck 34 games 8 goals Sterling 44 games 10 goals
For England 2015 and 2015 Welbeck 13 games 6 goals Sterling 13 games 1 goal

I'd wager Welbeck has been a Sub in a lot more of those games than Sterling has too, England aside.

Clearly a world of difference there for 2 players who largely don't play up front but do on occasion

Goals ain't everything though and certainly not for wide players.

But of course if you want to go down that route, you would have to show the same for Navas, Young and Willian...

Young doesn't have many. he was rubbish last year and been Left back/LWB for large chunks of this season

Navas 79 apps and 7 goals for City and 1 game and 0 goals for Spain
Willian 76 and 8 for Chelsea and 3 goals in 10 games for Brazil
Young 48 and 4 for United. No games for England

indeed stats aren't everything, RVP has scored 10 goals and he's been utter poo. Di Maria has 10 assists and hasn't had a fantastic season.

Sterling is a good player but he's easily the most over rated player in the league at the moment, especially in his own head/agents head. There's talk of £50m, utter lunacy.

Certainly makes Stirling's stats look better in comparison!

Lets say the Arsenal team is too bloated to incorporate another winger and Mourinho would favour Willian's defensive work. I still don't see how Stirling doesn't get into both Manchester clubs.

EDIT: Price tags aren't down to the player, that's the media getting all excited. I think Stirling wants to play regular CL football and not for a team that plays their reserve side against Real Madrid.

£50 million for Sterling is lunacy from a buying point of view, but from a sellers point of view it would be lunacy to accept anything less, especially with 2 years to go on his contract.

As for the honesty/integrity of managers, I find it interesting that when some managers (like Mourinho) act like bell ends, they're hailed as a genius of mind games, yet when others behave like bell ends, they're seen as, well, bell ends.

Someone would pay that for him without a doubt [after all PSG paid £50 mill for David Luiz!]. He's #1 in all stats for Liverpool this season and we know he could still improve further. I'm not too fussed either way if he stays or goes. If he goes, Liverpool will get a good whack for Summer (hopefully towards another striker!). If he stays then great, he can improve there and try to help Liverpool push on for the CL etc, next season.

Are you not a little worried you'll piss it up the wall again? What Southampton player would you want?

Going into the transfer market is always a risk but you gotta try if you need players.
