You're as much a non-entity when it comes to big trophies, Liverpool have been closer to the league title more recently than you. You enter the Champions League for financial purposes only, second round exit no matter what calibre of opponent. Nowhere near the league title this year and won't be for the forseeable. Flat-track bullies if we ever saw one.

Liverpool are a bigger club with bigger history too, although that makes little difference.
Bit harsh, but i actually agree on this. I don't think Arsenal would be a sideways step, but it just wouldn't be a big one. Suarez nearly made the same mistake last year :)

Sorry Will, it's not often we disagree on things.

Loving this. Interesting to see the stick he is getting from some Liverpool fans. I thought they would never abandon him or abuse him for his decisions, like wanting to be near his family. YNWA and all that.

How long until this?

Shouldn't you be getting your birth certificate from the Everton site, Joe?

The interview revealed nothing we didn't already know. The interviewer prompted the bit about Arsenal, asking if it was flattering to be linked. He'll hardly say no.

I'd perhaps say he wasn't best advised to do it, but his agent is just after the money. His agent would get a portion of the 10% he'd get from Raheem signing a contract now, in the summer he'll get 100% of that 10%. That's why he's been advised to wait for the summer.

I'm in no way a Liverpool defender, Pagnell will tell you that but anybody who knows anything about football knows that moving to Arsenal from Liverpool has never been and is still not a step up. Arsenal fans really do over-estimate their own importance, but we knew that already didn't we?

Two clubs who's sole aim is top 4. In fact, Liverpool have had the best shot of a league title in the last 10 years, 08-09 and last season. Liverpool have also won the European Cup in the last 10 years and have won it 5 times (they don't mention it though...) compared to Arsenal's...0. Both teams have good records in domestic cup competitions and both will continue to do so. Arsenal have more money to throw around and London as factors to down LFC with but two very shallow reasons. Liverpool like em or not, along with Manchester United are the club young players around the world dream of playing for in England. People dream of playing at Anfield (like they do Old Trafford)... the Emirates stadium with a load of tarquins watching on with their cotton traders on, not so much.

United and Liverpool hate each other passionatley but respect each other. Both clubs fans look down on Arsenal and their self important attitude to English football. Look at Arsenal fans and their reaction to Danny Welbeck scoring against United, a player United didn't want. Jonathan Greening used to always have blinders against them when he played for Middlesboro and they didn't want him either. Small time attitude from Arsenal of which we up north are accustomed too

I personally think Arsenal and Liverpool are on about the same level. If United don't make the CL then they will be on the same boat too. Sterling's best option is City.

It's a step up but it's a bit of a pointless step up for someone like Sterling. He's been talking about wanting to win things, and if that's the case I don't see why he'd shuffle up the league a bit to Arsenal when surely Chelsea or City would be happy to sign him.

Do you think Chelsea would though? Jose only seems to like one of his three attacking midfielders to be uninhibited by the system and formation he plays - to have attacking license at the expense of tracking back/defending. That's why Mata didn't fit into his system and that's why we see hardworking players like Willian played on the one side while Hazard gets the freedom on the other. Sterling would be great in the Hazard type role (which he can't play at Chelsea) but I'm not sure about him playing the Willian role.

I don't see why not. He's been playing wingback of late.

Yeah and that is supposedly one of the reasons he has been stalling on the contract, he wants guarantees that he can play a more attacking role.

I only see City as a possible destination for him if he ends up leaving Liverpool. It's a perfect fit.

At the moment, nobody comes to mind. So that's a very good point.

Navas doesn't come close apart from his pace, If I were Liverpool I'd be doing everything to get Jovetic in for any kind of deal.

One of Sterling's best qualities is his workrate and understanding of when to press. i'd have him ahead of Willian personally...

But Sterling is also very creative and would thrive more with the freedom to roam. I think he'd be stifled in a Chelsea side with Hazard. I'd definitely have him ahead of Willian too but I'm not sure Mourinho would.

I agree, Chelsea wouldn't be a good fit for him. If he is to leave us this summer I think he'd be better served going abroad to one of the clubs in the tier below Bayern, Real & Barca for his development. In England, then I'd only really say City would be near us as being a good option, for him.

Is he justified in asking for the money he is after Sturridge got a bump to £140k last year? With Suarez gone and Gerrard about to leave I think he might be.

How much would you Liverpool fans accept for him in the Summer? £40m?

From abroad, depending on who went in for him, if it was Real or Barca, they'd probably be willing to pay even more than that for him. From England - £50 mill+.

I get that he wants to win trophies, who wouldn't, I just think he's too young to be worrying about it this early on his career. See out your contract at Liverpool...leave in 2/3 years join Madrid/Barcelona/Chelsea and won as many trophies as your can get your hands on.

Agree with you on this (for a change! :D ), he has come on leaps and bounds as a player since Rodgers brought him in. He has just about dealt with everything thrown at him, including being the talisman for the side when Sturridge has been out injured (again). He has the time to sign for the £100k+/week deal, improve his game over the next two seasons, and then if he wants to, then he could go to a side who'll be competing for the CL trophy every year. If he goes in the summer, then he'll get paid more - but will he get given time to improve his game further, or will he run the risk of fading out like so many others, before he can step up and become potentially world class and England's best player?
