I can't believe Boletus has called the manager Cocko like he's some sort of mate of his
' ay up Cocko lad , you coming out for a pint ' .
Sorry just a pet hate of mine as you can see !
You do realise that all Argo fans refer to him fondly as Cocko?

First names are good if you like a player and you're shouting words of encouragement in the stadium from somewhere they can hear you. I haven't figured out what to call Coughlan yet. You need phlegm to say Coughlan properly and I don't like Graham. I don't know him well enough for Cocko or if it's a very good nickname

He'll get called worse here next season, If we are allowed in by then anyway!

Yeah he’ll get a rough ride at Mansfield for sure.

Though having played for chesterfield for so long it’s fitting he would know lots about non league football

To be fair we often refer to Wozza and Monty for example, always chuckled at Dodds being called Hayley myself!

...and if you spend some time going through your finances and decide on a sensible wage budget and then just go "FUCK IT CAROLYN MY SWEET, WE'RE DOUBLING IT AGAIN - WE CAN'T POSSIBLY FAIL THIS TIME, RIGHT?"

You’ve got the relationship dynamic the wrong way round you fool

We're set to make a decision on our out of contract players soon:

"Harry Davis, Bradley Garmston, Elliot Grandin, Jake Hessenthaler, Elliott Whitehouse, Max Wright, Harry Cardwell, Billy Clarke, Jordan Cook, Ahkeem Rose and Charles Vernam. The club can trigger a one-year option on Vernam's contract if they wish."

Taking the option up on Vernam and reneweing Billy Clarke's would be the only bits of imperative business there for me. Take or leave Davis and Garmston, both capable of doing a job in L2 but neither of excelling really. From what I've seen of Grandin, he is a complete wildcard who could rip a team to shreds one day and may as well not be on the pitch another. Too much of a luxury for right now, unfortunately. I'd release Whitehouse, hasn't really worked out here for him. We don't need him and Clifton. Cardwell and Rose get rid. Keep one of Wright or Cook. Preferably Wright.
Didn't realise Hess was out of contract (even though I'd copied and pasted the article that says he was). We've just released our retained and released list:

https://www.grimsby-townfc.co.uk/news/2020/may/retained-list-announced/

The following players remain under contract for the 2020/21 season:

James McKeown, Sam Russell, Ollie Battersby, Ludvig Öhman, Luke Waterfall, Mattie Pollock, Luke Hendrie, Elliott Hewitt, Harry Clifton, Jock Curran, James Tilley, James Hanson, Matt Green.

The following players will not be offered new contracts with the club for the 2020/21 season:

Bradley Garmston, Harry Davis, Brandon Buckley, Elliott Whitehouse, Elliot Grandin, Jake Hessenthaler, Harry Cardwell, Ahkeem Rose & Jordan Cook.

Gutted we've let go of Hess, that's a massive shame.

You seem to be letting go of your cornering of the Elliott market.

It’s a mixture of things.

A lot of them were there from the time of Evans when players were bought in on his conveyor belt system of where if you get enough players in eventually a few of them will be good enough - his transfer skills were shocking, unfortunately most of those who didn’t perform were his players who were on big wages who did duck all.

Coughlan saw straight through this has basically been wanting to clean it out from the earliest chance - which is now.

There's an interesting article on The Chad (won't link to it as the website is awful) where Bishop is talking about Dempster's leadership. Confirms what a lot of us were thinking re. Dempster.

Aye. Well I think fans had cottoned on by the end of August it was going to be a slow car crash of a season.

Whereas I did (and still do) believe sacking flitcroft was the correct decision, they obviously got this one horribly wrong.

Correct decision to get rid of Flitcroft, wrong appointment to get Dempster. I still think losing to Newport in the playoffs clouded judgement re. the next appointment. They saw Flynn as a rookie doing well and went for Dempster thinking it would have the same impact. It seems like part of the board is more fascinated with youth than they are winning.

Harry Davis released I see.

Good judge of talent Mr Ian Holloway is.
Davis did ok in general for us but he wanted out last year but we took an option to keep him for another year. No brainer to let someone go who hasn‘t settled in the area.

Decent, if unspectacular, player at this level imo.

Suspect Hess let go of us as much as anything. Be amazed if he didn‘t end up with a southern based club
