Max Wright signs a new 2-year contract.

Charles Vernam likely to be off to a League 1 club as we can’t afford to offer him better terms at the moment. Disappointing after he’s only had few decent months but not an absolute disaster.

The latest to confirm a new deal is completely is Cristian Montano, been a very useful player for us over the past three season, surprising it is only a 1 year term but he is a fans favourite.

Been very good since moved from a winger to a left back.

Rhys Browne now official as well, 1 year extension, didn't really get much of a look in with Worrall and Amoo but a decent back up, oddly it looked as though he was going in January! Didn't help he was injured the first few months so hopefully we see what he can offer.

Was outstanding when he first came on against Plymouth when Amoo wen't off but been hit and miss at times since.

That's 6 of the 7 offered new deals in the summer signed (along with the 4 agreed prior to the summer), just Nathan Smith to go, although think he will be going myself.

Happy with that, now hopefully we can start adding that little bit extra to get us to really push for promotion next season. Centre Half, natural left back ideally and a half decent Striker and we are pretty much good to go. Maybe a Jake Taylor or equivalent although less crucial if Manny stays fit.

Port vale recruiting early got a feeling they will be a force in league two next season. Northampton did the same last year. Didn’t do them any harm we will be on the last minute as usual I would imagine

We’ve kept almost all the players we wanted from last year so only a few fringe and smith likely to go which is a nice change.

Wouldn’t think we will do too much but tweak to try and add to what we did last season, especially as it could of ended with a top 7 finish and we’d really kicked into gear after Christmas.

First time in 6 or 7 years I’m excited by the prospect of a season!

You can normally get a good idea on who's likely to do well based on momentum. Crewe had it last season, their form since Jan had been very good and it was no surprise they went up this season.

Likewise I reckon Vale seem to have it this time, on and off the pitch, so reckon they look nailed on to be up there. Salford also look like they've got some momentum going too, plus they'll bring in some quality no doubt.

Those 2 plus Bolton and probably Bradford are almost certainly gonna be top 7 minimum imo. Grimsby another team to look out for with Holloway getting them playing some good stuff.

Nah you'll be fucked. Askey's only used to having 2 players left from the season before and getting his squad built 3 games into the season! No way he knows how to handle stability!!

I was really looking forward to having Vernam, Hanson and Clarke as an attacking trio...especially with Cardwell off so potentially another decent forward coming in.

But, we're operating sensibly as opposed to a lot of clubs right now so I can understand why we've missed out despite it being frustrating.

Big season for Max Wright now. Has shown glimpses of what he's capable and I really like him whenever I've seen him interviewed. Great attitude and he's a life long Town fan so I desperately want him to succeed. It all seems a bit Peter Bore/Danny North though, in that he could well just continue to show these glimpses but never really become consistent enough. I hope he's given the time to prove himself and improve.

Other teams have external funding and therefore more money, you gotta wait until you can go windmilling regarding who’s sensible or not.

Any idea who the L1 club is for Vernam?

Yeah, but nobody knows when the season is gonna start or when people are going to be attending games so clubs are obviously budgeting knowing that losses are more likely if they're signing players now.

Strong rumours are that it's Burton that Vernam is going to.

New coming out of the L1 meeting last Thursday seems to be a start date of 12th September with 30%-40% capacity and nearing 100% come January.

I think the PL are voting on their start date tomorrow?

They've proposed 12th Sept as one option or 29th August as the other.

The 100% by January seems be assuming the virus disappears as winter will be the acid test to if this thing has any seasonality or not.

30-40% would suit Vale as we could go pretty much as normal though!

Yep, two dates but 12th September seems to be favoured although there are L1 clubs who don't want to start back up until the crowds are back (ironically enough, apparently they include club(s) who voted to play on this season without crowds).

Wow am genuinely shocked by that. Thought for all intents and purposes he was gone. 2 years as well is fantastic for us. This must be the first time in years everybody we have wanted to keep we have done so.

First time I’ve ever known us sign players up so early and all of them have stayed.

Our squad is already looking decent. Couple of more additions and we are looking very strong.

One of the men who runs Crawley has replied to a twitter question regarding the contract renewals of Ollie Palmer and Panutche Camara. He wrote they were good servants of the club but " In all honesty the odds are not in our favour of both of them being with us next season".

Palmer would get a contract with most sides at league 2 and a fair few in league 1 but Camara? As much as I love him, work rate and sheer enthusiasm, his tendency to go from class to crap in ten seconds will probably go against him. He may end up back in Portugal.

I can't make up my mind as to who would be the biggest loss.

same for us.

if this 30 - 40% from September gets confirmed I reckon we could well stay full time which would be a huge relief.
