I will be surprised if amoo signs 1 because he had abit of stick off supporters and 2 hes abit of a journey man so does a year or 2 at a club and then moves on. I can see smith moving to a league one club as I think hes too good for league 2 now.

Depends if he’s willing to gamble with the current situation. We’ve not really heard much about him at all though since the season ended.

Smith might go, if he does fair play to him he’s earned it but hopefully he will give us another year to see if he can make it back to L1 with us.

Leggey and Brisley were solid though when he was out so if we get a decent replacement it maybe isn’t the disaster it could of been.

I think you're right about Amoo. Our fans loved him and was surprised he left but when you look at his CV he is always on the move.

Few of our fans have mentioned us with Smith. I just don’t see us competing financially to get him. The only pluses we can offer is league 1 football and close to his home.

Still nothing from our club, we must be one of very few in the division who haven't released our retained/released/offers list.

We've got one foot in L2 and one in the NL at present as the NL board tries to make the EFL board look good... so obviously no news from us yet either.

He's not the best ball at feet, probably his weakest part of his game so may be an issue with you guys but may be workable if you can match our wage offer and give him L1 football, he was being linked with Birmingham in January but obviously with the Virus they may not want to go for a player who isn't guaranteed to succeed at that level or on the flip side may come back in for him as a cheaper option.

That said he did start and finish a superb footballing goal away at Mansfield!

Only Amoo and Smith to really say now of our offers, although apparently talks with Amoo have been positive.

A number of our better players (J Mills, Shepherd, Rawson,McGinley, Stokes, Dawson, Frear, Williams etc) contracts run out in just over 2 weeks, so expect to hear something soon. Given that Vince was talking about tough financial times in Fridays refunds press release it will be pretty interesting to see how many of those we can try and keep.

No doubt that times are tough but from those you mentioned I would hope we can retain the services of Joe Mills, Shepherd, Rawson and McGinley...plus if possible Stokes as I think he was pretty good when we were struggling a bit with injuries in defence.

Shephard and Rawson would have been two of our top earners, huge losses. Frear and Williams also very talented but it seems we can't afford to keep them. Hope we can sign up the 3 we've offered deals as it's a very young squad without them.

Also, wasn't Matt Mills a player-coach at FGR?

Matt Mills was player assistant manger yeah, not wildly popular though.

Can cross McGinley off the offered deal list, he's already buggered off to Motherwell !

a step down to SPL level then. Apart from the top 2 the rest would struggle in the National League.... but perhaps he can now eat meat pies at the ground if he's not actually playing...

Of those we have retained, due to them still having a contract, I would be surprised if Smith or McCoulsky feature again as they appear to have been declared surplus to requirements earlier in the year and sent out on loan. I hope both Joe Mills and Stokes sign contracts as we have the makings of a fairly reasonable defence if we can retain their services, despite the departure of the likes of Shepherd, McGinley and Rawson.

Of those leaving at the end of their contract I would have liked to see Rawson stay at the club as I reckon he is one of the best defenders in the division, definitely a key player for us over the last couple of seasons, a significant factor in us avoiding relegation at the end of our first season in the Football League (he arrived at the club with mad-Gav Gunning in the January and the pair shored up a horrifically leaky defence).

I'm actually fairly happy with what we have left and think that we are in a reasonable position compared to many other clubs. We have a small squad who are probably not the highest wage earners, not a bad thing when we don't know how long it will be before supporters (the major revenue stream) are allowed back into grounds. With it being likely that most clubs will operate with smaller squads there are likely to be a lot of players looking for a new contract, if we can fill our gaps with a bit of quality then there is good reason to be optimistic.

Wouldn’t mind seeing us go after Joe Mills, would slot in at the LWB position.

As expected apart from Slew, no idea how he's got another deal. He works hard but he is just awful, cost us a few points just for being shit. I would have given Oates another chance after his big injury but he was always knackered after 20 minutes, even when fit. It will be Interesting to see what Derek has up his sleeve, big recruitment needed.

Kev has finally left, gutted that it has ended this way, but the relationship between him and Adams just totally fell apart. Hopefully his relationship with the club hasn't soured and he gets to return soon to get some sort of celebration for his time here.

Amoo the latest to confirm he wants to sign his deal. Only Smith left. Can’t recall a season where all but one have agreed to sign new deals, 6 of the 7 this summer and three done just before lockdown!

I dont really want smith to leave but CB is one of the easiest spots to fill plenty of decent ones for this level being released by clubs.

I’d say so yes, as long as we get a solid centre half in, maybe a younger one to go with Leggey and Brisley then I’d be happy enough.

Lewis Young signs a two year contract extension with Crawley.

A winger/wide midfielder/full back who doesn't really tackle or cross but he does applaud the fans so that's OK then.

He is the younger brother of Ashley so we do get a good player watching us sometimes.

Finally got round to a full list. The only surprise is letting Jamie's Sendles-White go. Capable of playing this level without problems. Someone's going to get a decent centre half.

Full list...

RELEASED UPON EXPIRY OF CONTRACT:

Ibrahim Meite ... Forward not league standard
Jimmy Smith ...... Midfield. Might have something lined up
Josh Payne.......... Midfield. Good range of passing. Annoying tendency to go backwards.
Jamie Sendles-White .... As discussed
PLAYERS UNDER CONTRACT:
Glenn Morris.... Keeper
Alfie Jones.... Young Keeper
Manny Adebowale..... Centre Half
Tom Dallison....... Centre Half
Joe McNerney..... Centre Half...fitness/injury problems last season
Jordan Tunnicliffe....Centre Half...ever present
David Sesay.... Full back
Josh Doherty... Full back
Lewis Young....
Ashley Nathaniel-George
Tarryn Allarakhia
George Francomb
Nathan Ferguson...midfield
Jack Powell...... midfield
Gyliano van Velzen.... Forward/winger Surprised he is still here
Filipe Morais.....Expect to see him leave
Brian Galach.... Needs a breakthrough season. Conf South beckons
Ricardo German.....Got game time and a goal after Xmas
Reece Grego-Cox
Bez Lubala
Ashley Nadesan
OFFERED NEW CONTRACTS:
Panutche Camará.... Very frustrating. Loads of energy, World beater to useless in 30 seconds
Ollie Palmer
Dannie Bulman....I hope he signs. Good player, good influence.

All loan players will return to their respective parent clubs and we thank them for their efforts during their time in Red.

What's a typical squad size in L2? And is that the norm, to have 20+ players on your retained list?

I don't think we've ever had a squad of more than about 20/21 players!

Probably 25 or so.

I'm surprised at the amount of players Clubs still have under contract, but maybe I'm just noticing it more because of circumstances.

Crawley had a big clear out at the end of the previous season. A lot of those contracted players are now on the second year of two year deals and five or six of those are players picked up from lower leagues who will not be on a big wage.....still, as a Crawley fan. Thats a big squad.

We currently have 11 players and 4 first team staff members contracted, all furloughed. 2 more offered deals but given the fact they haven't yet signed despite the current climate, I'd imagine they are on reduced terms.

Of those players contracted 6 have 1 or less seasons of EFL experience and only 2 are over 24. So at least we should be in a good position to comply if/when the wage cap/squad limit is introduced.
