Tbh when we played Northampton recently they were very poor, however they worked bloody hard though and through sheer determination (and luck at times) they some how got a draw against us at our place. A completely different team (in that respect) to the one we faced at their place where it ended 6-0.

I can see them fighting out for a draw here.
Same impression of the Cobblers based on Tuesday night. Not much quality, lots of hoofing but working really hard with great intensity. Much of our 'success' this season has come down to working harder that the other team - Northampton more than matched us on Tuesday night. I think it was a bad time to play them after their thrashing at home to Rotherham 3 days earlier as there was definitely a reaction. If we'd have scored first however I think we would have comfortably won the game

Yep sounds about right - especially as they went down to 10 men against us. At that point that game was over and nailed on 1-1 they just completely closed up.

I'd also agree with your statement about yourselves (at our place anyway). You weren't miles better than us, but just did everything right. All the basics were covered, always closed down at every moment, passed the ball well, never gave it away. It wasn't pretty but it was very admiral to watch at the same time.

Really hope you go up, I've always liked Shrewsbury since that Play Off Final game back in 07

Turns out the ticket office miscounted and we're only at 400 sold for Fleetwood. Bit disappointing.

Dont know if you are on your fans forum, if you are, can you give your fans travelling to the game the info that the primary road into Fleetwood off the M55 junction 3 closes for roadworks at 20.00 each night. Best route after this time is driving from Fleetwood to Blackpool and getting on the M55 J4.

Cods played with a little more edge and on balance deserved the win. Northampton looked 'flat' for most of the game apart from 10 minutes or so at the beginning of the second half where they could or should have equalised. If they had done it may well have been a different result. Despite the lack of quality on display it was evident that the Cods knew their arses are against the wall and so scrapped and fought for everything. Northampton played as if it were an end of season game with nothing to win or lose for, I would have expected far more fight and passion from them.
Good turn out by the visiting fans, a pity that their team did not turn up for them. I know from frequent personal experience that in travelling to away games you can accept a defeat IF the team perform with pride and passion if not skill. But it is a real kick in the sphericals if the don't.

About as good a set of results as we could have hoped for.

Bury are fucked now.
Rochdale can no longer rely on their own results.
Northampton have played 39 games.

We have to win our games in hand to give us a bit of breathing space.

Likewise except 1 of our games in hand is against Wigan so that is very, very likely to be a defeat.

Don’t think anyone needs telling that Bury are toast. They’ve got decent players, they are just mentally finished. As soon as they go behind they have zero belief that they can get anything. Reminded me of us in the Championship. Football is as much a psychological game as it is a physical one.

Hopefully Dunkley scores. What an outstanding signing he’s been for a Bosman.

Predictable defeat for us at shrewsbury.Fleetwood at home good friday is one we need to win !!. We simply don't score enough goals. That's not entirely surprising as we only have 2 fit forwards for the remainder of the season. An interesting fact for us this season is that whenever we have scored the first goal we have never lost a game this season, but on the flip side whenever we have conceded first we have never gone on to win a game!!! No idea if we will stay up.We will need to get the points at home i feel.Whatever happens the team will need to be totally dismantled next season, along with a clear out of the management.

Afraid so mate, probably the poorest team seen at Highbury this season. Van Veen quality but not much else. Sheridan is certainly turning things round, not sure about Hunter turning out at left back position but a third clean sheet in a row is excellent. The whole team worked their bollocks off and while there is still a long way to go there is an air of confidence in the team and fans

Great chance for Rochdale v us on Friday with midfielders Godfrey out injured, Ogogo and Bryn Morris suspended leaving just Nolan as the only recognised central midfielder . Add to that long term injuries to right Back Bolton and left back Brown who has missed most of the season our squad is stretched.
I can see us losing this one which would please Blackburn fans. I don’t think Wigan will be to concerned though as they seem in complete control of their destiny.

Is that a serious post? I know he has been a regular but the boy can't play it on the deck and has a 50p head. Will he make the step up to the Championship do you think?

I’ll be surprised and disappointed if he doesn’t. Been absolutely brilliant since he cut out those brain fades very early on in the season (Pompey). Wins everything in the air, doesn’t give the ball away and is probably the biggest defensive threat from set pieces that we’ve had since Harry Maguire. The FA Cup run was where I actually realised how good he was. We played West Ham and he didn’t give Hernandez a sniff all game. Credit to Paul Cook whose obviously worked hard with him and many others in training.

Fair play to him, liked Chey a lot and he was good here until he lost his confidence towards the end

I do think he might struggle in the Championship as I imagine being on the best defence in the league on the best team probably helps mask his flaws, and when you're on a more level playing field his flaws might be a bit more obvious

But hopefully he gets the chance and proves me wrong, after giving the scums **** goalie some stick earlier in the season I think most Oxford fans would wish him all the best

Thought Northampton played alright just no cutting edge, better team first half. Pretty direct but had the advantage in height and physically. Van Veen always scores against so we where expecting it again but luckily didnt happen.

We havent won at home in league for 5 months so long overdue, we are a poor side but new manager just given us the bounce we needed. Got us battling and digging in.

Pulled 5 points away from bottom 4 but nowhere near out of danger, though I admit that the relief of a home win it did feel it at 5pm.

Big game at Wimbledon where I dont recall us ever winning, so theres that.

Just want to add to the idea that Chey Dunkley seems to be an absolutely top fella and couldn't be more pleased to see him do well.

I’m from the arse end of nowhere the country’s forgotten peninsula and only had to awake at 05:30, let alone leave!

Thanks for your concern, that's to get to Sixfields to get on the fan bus for the rest of the journey. I live just north of Pompey and do it for all Northern away games. :dk:
