It's a good job Vale got that late equaliser at the Mill a fortnight ago or the Vale fans would be shitting bricks watching all them goals go in at Cambridge and listening to the goals at Barnet.

If Allen stays, I expect us to be back soon enough, possibly even first time of asking if we invest in the squad.

Not many relegated sides go down off the back of promotion form, and we have lots of Conf experience in our squad already.

Shame the fixtures played out the way they did with Coventry and Morecambe both happy with a draw but when you have 4 different managers in a season, you can only blame yourselves.

Well, chesterfield won’t have a clue what’s hit them. Going down to the conference is the equivalent of being spun around, blindfolded, hands tied - and wonder why in November you’re in the bottom half when you’ve no clue what’s going on.

Barnet won’t be blindfolded, spun around or hands tied, they’ll know the drill well and go about it well.

Heads up boys, you’re a good bunch and I wish you all the best.

Did think that but to be fair we wouldn’t have played that XI had we not in the past fortnight!

Got what we deserved.

Hopefully this works as a wake up call to the chairman. He's done a lot of very good things, but by goodness, he has an awful record of appointing managers which is the most important position in the club.

Hopefully we've planned for relegation, as it's been on the cards since Christmas and he has a proper manager lined up, not someone on the cheap, or a contact of a mate.

We need stability. We've gone through a multitude of people that were never going to be up to the job. If he wants to keep Allen, then ensure the contract contains an eye watering penalty should he want to break it (which he will), and if he doesn't want to sign it, thank him for his efforts and show him the door.

We are geared up off the field to compete and we will compete on it if he gets the right man in as manager.

True but lets be honest with only 2 wins this calendar year it's not as though our first choice XI is that much of an improvement.

Commiserations to the Barnet fans on here, always seemed a good bunch and hopefully can bounce back asap.

It's interesting that I think there were probably more Barrow fans than Barnet fans pissed off that Morecambe blagged their way to avoiding the drop - although the exiles of the NSC will be pleased to seek out the joys of the Hive.

Carlisle fans pleased with the outcome certainly exceeded Morecambe fans as otherwise their nearest away matches would have been Bury, Oldham, Crewe and possibly Tranmere - all over 240 miles round trip.

Grim. This season has been a very unique one with us showing our potential only at the very start and very end. First half of the season ended with the worst injury list I've ever come across and the second half began with the worst manager I've ever come across (fuck you McGhee).

Did we deserve to go down? Absolutely. Were we, at anywhere near our potential, too good to go down? Yes.

Best of luck to everyone next season (even Coventry). We won't be back for a while, if at all.
My respect must go to the Barnet fans for their dignity and grace in going down.
To put my clubs case forward, we had nine shots on target yesterday so yes we did try to win the game for you. We have a lot of injuries too, so it was critical we did not get anymore in time for the playoffs, so we may have held back on really getting stuck in. We had to look after ourselves fIrst and foremost so we had to make sure we did not lose the game, so perhaps we were a little defensive and apprehensive.
We have had two season ending injuries early on in the campaign , two of our most creative players so I think most of our fans were dreading the thought of more injuries at this crucial time.
The Barnet fans on here have been fantastic this season and I really do hope you bounce back next season, I will certainly keep an eye out for your results.
To not finish in the top six in any league since the 1970/71 season it was obvious we were a massive bag of nerves about yesterday.
Anyway good luck Bees and could you please send Akinde up the motorway to us I will be most grateful

Sorry to see Barnet go - must be all the more frustrating to have that late surge that ended up being too little, too late.

Hope to see you back in a couple of seasons when we’ll both no doubt return to our spiritual home league...

I was surprised actually seeing the highlights that Morecambe's keeper made 2 brilliant saves as it sounded on Sky Sports like neither team were trying, I think this was probably the case a lot more in the second half as both teams settled for the draw whereas Cov seemed to go for it a lot more in the first half.

All the best, Barnet.

You've been there and done it before, with Allen and Akinde so you're probably better prepared than most who go down.

It's a favourite away day of Imps, so we'll miss it.

The fans at Brunton Park were actually singing 'The Shrimps are staying up' towards the end of the game, so you could be right.

The people really pissed off about this will be all those clubs in the Conference who expected a tilt at promotion next season but now Barnet are down they'll have to make do with the play-offs.

Barrow needn't worry themselves, and can't really call anyone out for shithousing survival.

Vale are wank id make us and morecambe favourites for relegation for next season already.
Surely you’ll strengthen in the Summer though and get rid of some of the dead wood?

At first I was a tad disappointed with your side's failing to beat Morecambe, though I've got nothing against Morecambe as a club. It was more the fact that it ended up goalless, and oddly enough I wouldn't have felt this way if it had ended 1-1 or 2-2. Thing is a goalless draw reminded me of those fixed Italian football matches and I like to think things are done differently over here.

But after reading your post, and after watching the highlights, I think you're right and tbh I think my lot would've done exactly the same thing if it were them in this situation. Coventry needed just a point to make the play offs and they got it, same as Lincoln who also drew their match even though Yeovil had nothing to play for, unlike Morecambe. Another thing is Morecambe are L2's draw specialists so the end result cannot be considered 'suspicious' or anything.

Good luck in the play offs.

Theres too many to get rid off. For the third summer in the row we have pretty much got get rid of around 20 players but this time instead of signing another 20 just sign around 12 better standard ones.

There is but I would back JR and Aspin to get the right players in far more than Brown and Bruno.

As I’ve said before though it depends what we are wanting next season... it may be unrealistic to think we can turn this around enough such is the damage done that we will be challenging the top six next season but may be a case of consolidating an upper mid table side that we can then use as a base to tweak and amend over the next two or three years to get the job done.

I didn’t realise it is actually our joint worst ever FL finish... some going with 110 years or something of it!

We are in a similar position to 2009 when Adams came in and had to undo the mess of Glover and Sinnott so May take time. I would take 12th if offered now!

Core is there to built around at least, Pope, Monty, Hannant, Worrall, Smith and Gibbons, could include Kay in that too who has been outstanding in midfield. If we can get five or six quality additions to that we won’t be far off.

Imagine a lot available for transfer too...

Problem is even if they are made available who the hell will want any of them?

This season has only just finished and lots can change but as it stands right now I'm more inclined to Andy's way of thinking on this. Brown has fucked us over with these second year options for Pugh and Tonge who would be top of my list to get rid of and thats not even mentioning we have to tolerate another year of Joe fucking Davis. We got very lucky this year but doubt it will happen again for us.

Forget playoffs or anything like that. Somewhere like 13-16th will likely be the height of what we will be able to achieve next year.

Here's an interesting thought;

Had the bookies been taken to the cleaners off the back of a tactical 0-0 draw, would we now be seeing match fixing and disrepute charges and all sorts leveled at Coventry and Morecambe?

Not when they look at the saves Morecambe's keeper made in the first half, and if Morecambe were to get done every time they set up for a 0-0 they would be facing 46 disrepute charges this season.

He's settled down south -not a chance he'll go up north -certainly not for a NL team.
Sorry, you know him personally do you???

Guess it depends on whether he fancies taking on the challenge of bouncing straight back at a far bigger club doesn't it
