Carlisle fans would still say they're going down.

Carlisle could be second in the league, with a 20 point gap separating them from the third placed team, and their fans would still say that. A curious form of attention-seeking.

hellogregory will be in full blown panic mode now incase Stevenage get an unexpected "new manager" bounce and win their next match....

A couple of you using the plural ‘Carlisle fans’ when in fact it is just hellogregory predicting Carlisle’s imminent relegation for the 5th successive season.

Reading between the lines here...

https://www.stevenagefc.com/news/20...thletic-appointment-monday-17th-february-2020

...what are the odds of Stevenage getting a points deduction, which would surely seal the matter even more than it is already sealed?

I'd say it's very unlikely they'll get something as harsh as a points deduction for requesting and then being granted a game postponement, especially if it's only a technicality that one of the players on international duty doesn't meet the criteria to be counted as one of the three.

It's up to the EFL to judge and then grant or refuse the postponement at the time, unless Stevenage have deliberately concealed information they knew would affect their request (not entirely out of character for them), but even then I'm not sure they would go so far as to apply a points deduction.

Carlisle are now 30-1 to go down. Strike while the iron's hot! (don't)

both times I’ve seen Carlisle they’ve been pretty crap in fairness - that we’ve scored 4 goals in 2 games says that - and they’re level on points with so must be pretty lame.

However, like us they’re clearly not going down.

I wonder how much of his life savings HG spunked on that in the period last night when Macclesfield were beating Plymouth.

Well no, seeing as we’ve got through the period of games I felt were the big chance for teams to close the gap. We actually got 2 more points than i expected and the teams below didn’t put a little run together like we did a few weeks ago.

We are not safe. I don’t care what you or anyone says, our current points total does not guarantee safety. But having got through this period with our lead over bottom place intact, we SHOULD stay up.

Still here?
At what point will the gap to second place become narrow enough for you to air on the side of caution and slip away from the League 2 section?
5 points? 3 points? A point?

We’ll miss being informed of Barrow’s televised fixture schedule, but I’m sure we’ll manage.

and I'm surprised you're not resident on the non-league section already too....
by the way the next live TV match is Saturday this week at 5:20pm kick off away at Sutton United....

Even if we go down, I will not be going to the non league forum.

Why not? They must seem like a historic league club of repute to some of them down there.

Historic league club?

They were formed in 1976. There’s quite a few posters on here that are more ‘historic’ then them.

It's the fans. And the club as a whole. Not welcomed by anyone.
True - and it would be great if we at Barrow replace them as;-
1) We beat them in their last match as a non-league club and
2) We won't have to play them next season....

And we could be their last league opponents. They were our last non-league opponents (play off final)

please don't make hellogregory's predictions right by failing to get any more points and losing to them on the last day then....

Hopefully not, I don't think I could handle being a division below Barra... no offence just that we want to maintain our status as top dogs in Cumbria. If we're not does it mean we have to cede our nickname to you and be nicknamed something else?

That would give Stevenage 25 points. Where are the other 10 coming from?

they do still have Macclesfield, Oldham, Mansfield, Scunthorpe and Carlisle still to play;- 5 of the 6 teams directly above them... I don't think for a minute they'll win all them - but stranger things have happened in football...

Is there any rivalry or potential rivalry between Carlisle and Barrow? You’ve not crossed paths in decades but presumably being in the same league would create some needle?

well we would be the only 2 league teams in Cumbria, so there's that. Media wise it will be the biggest match and probably crowd wise. Morecambe would probably be the closet geographical match and used to be considered a derby when we were both non-league though.

Morecambe might be closer for us too... just thinking of how long it takes to get to Barrow after coming off the M6 at Kendal, compared to continuing down the M6 and coming off at Lancaster.

That said I think being the only two professional teams in the area covered by BBCRC means both sets of fans would view it as a big occasion for Cumbria. There's nothing particularly to dislike about Barrow but you want the local bragging rights.

You've come a long way since Dave Bayliss dropped the F-bomb in his post match interview... for context I was listening to that driving home from Brunton Park after just seeing us beat Sheffield United in L1, and I remember that more than I do the game.
