I would say Andy Cook has form for this type of thing but he has gone already.

I dare say we will, but with respect as well - we’ve gone from chasing promotion last season to well this, and whereas Cambridge and Carlisle - mentioned in this / have had times better than mansfield, maybe their expectations this season were slightly more modest. We’re a laughing stock.
I haven’t followed Mansfield’s season that closely (aside from that posted on here) but I can talk from Cambridge and say we were expecting a top half finish with a flirt with the play offs. We’re now 10 points off the play offs after 3 consecutive wins - we’re way below our expectations and it was pretty disastrous up to Calderwood being sacked (we’d lost our last two home games 4-0 ffs, one of them to Stevenage). In short the team is doing its best to recover some sort of respect from the fans for its season and it’s hardly like we’ve had “good times”.

You should have read our message board a month or so ago if you wanted a feeling of the doom. The words “laughing stock” cropped up on their quite a few times. But like Mansfield, we were always way clear of Stevenage and the rational fans knew we’d be safe, just as you will be.

Big ask for the play offs you’d need probably 11 wins from 13 surely?

Anyone below FGR is surely out of it realistically.

I'm interested to know, which players the Mansfield fans think are causing any issues off the pitch?

I was shocked that Craig Davies didn't even get thrown on for the final couple of minutes last night............

Davies been a disaster, always injured. Flitcroft chucked 50k the drain with him.

Neal Bishop attitude is pathetic, but he’s not the only one.

We should be safe, but due to our squad fans of other teams are struggling to comprehend just how shite we are, without Maynard we will be around Stevenage. It’s having the best striker in the league that’s our only proper hope.

Yeah at the moment we (Carlisle) are exceeding my expectations as going into this season I expected us to finish in the bottom 2.

Notts were the (ultimate) laughing stock last season, we were reminded regularly by Adam and co. Looks like it's Mansfailed's turn this season.

As for Bishop, his attitude was always very good at Meadow Lane although his IQ is clearly limited. Never heard anyone before now at any club having a go at his attitude.

Stags fans were absolutely loving him and his perfomances last season , huge fall from grace for Bish.

Not surprised to hear that his legs have gone, he's old.

It’s all well and good saying we’re safe. I’d be surprised if 34 points has ever been enough to stay up. We need to get to 42/43 points before I declare us safe. Less than that may be enough but we can’t thhink like that, stranger things have happened than Stevenage stringing together a couple of wins.
34 potentially could have been ok in 2015/16. York and Daggers went down on 34 points with -35 and -36 GD's.

35 would have obviously been certain safety.

Oh I agree, we’d have to basically win every game which obviously isn’t going to happen. I’m more using us as an example of a club who were in the shit a few weeks ago but are closer to the play offs than relegation now.

*I wasn't sure at the time but looking at the highlights you can see Reid and one other Cheltenham player definitely offside as the ball is kicked. The linesman looks a bit behind the line of the defenders though

I watch all the L2 highlights as soon as they're up on youtube, and that's a clear offside is what I said to myself at the time. But I think the lino is actually in line with the Carlisle defenders and that of course makes it worse.

Quite a few refs had a shocker in midweek. The penalty that Kettle gave to FGR was a joke, and so were the two pennos awarded to Crewe and Crawley. OTOH, Macc had a good shout for one turned down for a pretty clear deliberate handball at Morecambe.

Frustrating since it was a set piece, surely the easiest part of a linesmans day. And from a set piece the advantage you gain from a few inches is pretty clear, not like open play where it might not have mattered anyway.

It's now a three-horse race:

- Stevenage
- Macc (on points)
- Macc (due to ceasing to exist)

What’s the current situation with you guys? Is there a date for your EFL appeal and further charge?

Hopefully you can pull through and whoever goes down it’s because they are the worst team rather than worst run!

#stevenageforleaguefootball is trending on Twitter as their fans try to rally together. All 6 of them are really getting some positive traction.

No idea on the timeline for the points appeal or the 2nd charge, there wasnt any indication of the last announcement coming before it was announced.

25th March is the date we're next due in court. This was after the 10 weeks we were given following Amar stating he was in the process of selling. Obviously there's been no official news on any progress of a takeover/buyout; expectation is that if he doesn't sell before then, then that's the end of us.

No one has a fucking clue. The dickhead owner still refuses to communicate anything that's happening. I'm just expecting to wake up one day to find out we no longer exist. Doesn't help having no local rag to actually investigate what the fuck is going on. Rumours are that Smurf is one of the interested parties, though because he hasn't fully severed all ties with you lot yet (I dont know exactly) that he's not legally able to buy is. Like I say, not a scooby what's going on.

It’s complicated but from what I understand because of the crazy price the ground part of the take over is being paid for over a set amount of time, thus allowing them to invest in the massive improvements needed immediately. Thus meaning he still has a financial interest until paid off.

I really would like it if we could just win our next 3 games just to make the remainder of the season a bit more comfortable and boring. Sick of the constant stress of worrying about losing our league status.

I know there’s more chance of me sleeping with Shakira tonight than this Carlisle team in its current injury ravaged state winning 3 games in a row, but I can hope.

HG said three games ago when we were 11 points clear of Stevenage, that if we can maintain that 11 point gap for the next three games then he'll feel we're staying up.

Three games later and we've extended that gap to 13 points, so now he's decided we need to take nine points from three games in order to have a chance of staying up.

Stop making stuff up you utter tit.

I didn’t say we need 9 more points to “have a chance” of staying up at all. I said I’d like 9 points in the next 3 games to make the rest of the season comfortable and boring, as in nailed on safety.

I think with results going our way today we should now stay up now (should stay up is what I said 3 games ago, not exactly what you put in the post above)... so yeah we’ve come through this period with the gap intact and actually added 2 points in the process. I was worried about these 3 tough games incase Stevenage picked up a couple of wins out of the blue just like we did a few weeks ago. They didn’t so I’m happy, but we’re not “safe” yet.

That was such a important win for Mansfield yesterday, we took advantage of a injury ridden and very poor Newport but it doesn’t really matter how we do it now.

We’ve got Cheltenham and Swindon next up so it’s very unlikely we will pick up any points in them, yesterday nicely relieves the pressure.

Realistically that’s a massive step to seeing us stopping up, it’s hard to see Stevenage making it up now

It's always implied when you talk about relegation that you're talking in terms of having a chance of surviving.
