Just look at the top 3 now 7/8 points clear of 4th place, you've got to kneel to us.

What's that? 7 points clear you say? Shit, that's the league over for this year then.

How long have you been watching football Carver?

Long enough then to know that there is a separate promotion thread now.

Actually there wasn't when he posted that... that post was my prompt that a promotion thread would have to be started or else he would just continue to talk up our chances in the relegation thread.

Really neither thread should have been started before Christmas... blamed Hooped Wizard for this.

Fair enough, it's just that it must be even more painful for supporters of those genuinely shit teams that know they are likely to be struggling down there all season to have a Carlisle fan on here saying how magnificent they are.
A bit like Kelly Brook walking into the waiting room of breast enlargement clinic with a very low cut top on.

To be fair, for him to have any real recollection of us as a decent team he'd need to be at least 18.

Yes, but my point was that 7 or 8 points is nothing esp. in lower league football and with 3 points for a win. Just look at Pools and their great escape a couple of years ago. It's not like we're talking about Celtic having a 7 point lead here.

Having said that, I only predicted you lot to make the play offs on the Sergei(RIP) pre-season table prediction thing, but changed my mind after the 5th or 6th day of the season. Won't say you'll deffo make top 3 but I'm sure you'll be up there all year long.

Yeah, what I meant was just that it's probably to be expected if we continue to have a good season that *some* of our fans may be a bit unbearable, especially as the many of those at the optimum age for unbearability are yet to know anything but mid-season drudges and relegation battles.

It often seems to be the most shambolic clubs that go down, the team they put out just reflects the mess behind the scenes.
On every level from top to bottom you'd have to fancy us for the drop, as a club we're in freefall.

I would expect Newport and one other at the moment.

Accrington will probably get out of it, once Kee comes back from injury - They play better football than most teams at the bottom.

I wouldn't be suprised if we went, it will be humiliating for our owner though. He has spent so much in terms of tranfer fees and wages, but the teams we keep building under his tenure, have all lacked heart and desire. Something which I feel all the other sides in the bottom tier of the tablr have over us. It will be quietly ammusing though to watch him fail.

Notts County and Morecambe have to be very, very careful I feel - Both look likely to implode at any minute.

Cheltenham look like a pub team and think they'll be down there.

Hope Cheltenham go the journey, dirty side, but go down like they've been shot when you touch them.
Saw the sending off for Morecombe, bad challenge on him,a slight reaction, then Chelts players surrounding the ref to get him sent off.
No wonder Bentley was fuming, typical of those twats.

We are still in the mix for this, no doubt.

Not content with one relegation on his CV, Steve Davis is doing his very best to end 96 uninterrupted years of league football in Crewe...

I fully believe that if you can keep your first XI injury free, then you lot can launch a playoff challenge. Especially with the away form and now the St James Park monkey off your back.

I doubt that very much, I see you only going upwards toward the top seven. Newport, Cheltenham and maybe sadly Leyton seem to be the front runners at present.

Well, their fans did say they were cruising out of the division at the first attempt.

Love how they didn't believe me when i said their side had no league quality in it. The amount of games i went to see during the title winning season where they were absolutely awful but somehow managed to win.

Love how their manager shouted "if you don't start trying I'm quitting today" and they ended up winning a game for once. January is massive for them, rumours around the town that players have been seen in pubs nights before games lol, but i still think they are one of the weakest in the league and might be the first team to go straight back down.

We won't be near the playoffs come the end of the season. Doubt we'll be dragged down either as we've actually got some good players for this level (our front 4 especially) and we're not a complete basket case of a club (at the moment).

Somewhere like 13th would be my guess for where we end up.

YES, almost every prediction on here from chelt fans was saying top 3/4 min because they were so so so much better than bristol rovers??? Hilarious, look at the pub team go.
I remember that. Deluded fools to a man.

I think the only ones saying that were the WUMs who don't really post any more. I think the few of us that do still post (is it just myself and Si?) were never expecting that high a finish. I know I personally predicted a mid table finish.

I hate to try and predict any teams for relegation -- But I don't think you will have to look much further than Newport & Morecombe.

I made no predictions, you had us mid-table. Yep, every Cheltenham fan had us going up. We're going to piss this tinpot league :ffs:

EDIT - Well it appears I'm wrong, I did make a final table prediction and had Cheltenham listed as 6th. Surprised even myself with that prediction. Whilst looking through that thread though I did notice the following:

- The only other Chelts fan to predict a table was the Barnwood fan (4th).
- Only one poster had us going up automatically (a Doncaster fan).
- As many Grimsby and Mansfield fans had Cheltenham reaching the playoffs as Cheltenham fans.
- The vast majority predicted us to be between 11th and 15th (something I'd sntach your hand off for now).
- 5 of my predicted top 7 are there or thereabouts, only Carlisle (11th in my predictions) and Wycombe (17th) making me look foolish. With my top 7 having Chelts (as mentioned above) and Exeter in their place.

Given how tight the league is this year the January goings-on will be absolutely crucial.

Whilst Orient are right in the mix if we can keep hold of our newest manager (Andy Edwards), I think we will stay up. Not by a lot, but we will have the ability to beat sides like Morecambe, Hartlepool, Stanley, Notts County, Newport etc when those fixtures come round again.

For me it looks like Newport and one of Accrington or Notts County.

I would hate to see County go down myself, I've always thought of them as a Midlands Orient. Although getting hammered by Newport, being done by an extremely poor Colchester side and losing their last 6 league games doesn't do their chances any good...

Hope to see Newport and Accrington / Morecambe drop, they're genuinely tin pot.
